I always felt that I wanted to be a drummer and was steered away from it by my parents. When my attention was grabbed by a bass I think they felt 'well, it's not a drum set' and went with it. That's not to say I'm unhappy with where music has taken me on the bass, but I just can't help wondering what route the other journey might have taken. I think there's a lot more to keep you occupied with a drum set though, so I'm not sure I'd have as many kits as basses 😂

I keep looking in 'Basses for Sale' and no-one appears to have listed one yet 🤷‍♂️ Not that I want one of course.

Yes, it’s the Alembic. Going to an excellent home in the USA. I probably should have clarified that weight is the bass in it’s case, but nothing else. Those Spyder cases are unbelievably solid. I’m sure if you had a good few of them you could make a decent fallout shelter 😂

Glad you got it sorted @fleabag. Nowhere near the weight you were originally told, but I’m just about to ship a bass that is over 40lb without any packing added yet….and it’s going overseas. I’m glad I’m not paying for the shipping 😂

@SumOne - Bass Direct also have the 5 string J in as used.

Ah, I was just speaking with Bass Direct the other day about getting one of these.... It's the Chuck Rainey PJ and I don't think they make them any more, which is a bit of a shame. They do have the J version as used at the moment, but I really wanted the PJ. That 5'er does looks very nice, but yes, a bit on the weighty side.

No doubt it looks different. Not sure on the usability of the sounds, for me at least.

Would you perhaps consider sharing the gig diary with another bass player? I would consider helping as I dep in a Ska band anyway, but my worry is that my diary is quite full already and would clash with your bands dates if I did it full time. I suppose it depends on what 'lots of gigs in the diary' means and whether you would rather just leave altogether so they can find a full time replacement.

Quite so. Same here. Not so funny the other way around either when I commented he still had that overpriced eyesore hanging in his shop - ‘Nice bass that’. It’s still there as far as I’m aware (depends whether the web site accurately reflects the 2nd hand stock 😂).
