  1. It’s que, not keh, and it’s THE Band.
  2. Regretfully, this show has been rescheduled to 9/7/2022. June 21st has cast a shadow over the gigs immediately after that date and it has become too much of a risk for the band financially to allow the gig to go ahead. Our next gig will be at Chinnery’s in Southend, Essex on 17/9 followed by Fat Lil’s in Witney, Oxfordshire the following week.
  3. I can’t believe I’m even typing this, but my pedal board is the one thing that has not died on me. I’ve had amps go and basses, but never a pedal board. Probably just jinxed myself 😂.
  4. Yeah, I saw that Ric on FB. Was tempted by that myself as it’s in the same county 😂. GLWTS.
  5. Another Hercules fan. I have four of them. Three are the ‘hanging’ type (a 1, a 2 and a 3 instrument stand) and the other one is this little fella (the stand, not the dog) which is ideal for a corner of the living room. Small footprint, takes any bass that I’ve tried in (other than my Sandberg 48/Alembic Spyder/Warwick Reverso/any other pointy type bass) and it folds away to hardly anything when not in use (can of Coke for scale). As @ped mentioned, these types of stands look a bit odd with offset bodies (as shown) but I find they are very stable. I know it’s not made of wood, but for £25 (bag included 😂), it does the job.
  6. You wouldn't have enjoyed the process anyway. Part of the new set-up involves sending them a copy of a bank statement. Fairly painless and done within a few minutes though.
  7. It seems to me that you're just scouting for an argument. Highlighting a famous bass player that didn't have more than one bass for a live performances does not remove the risk. I wouldn't call it unprofessional, more unprepared and willing to take the gamble. As I said before, I think the gamble is easier to take with a passive bass and a new set of strings.
  8. I'll admit to having been someone who accepted what I had, but that's because I didn't know any different when I started. Some 40+ years down the line, I now know what I like. Added to that, I now have an issue with my fretting hand which means J width necks are much more preferable, so standard P necks are out.
  9. The ones I've played have all had a softish 'V' profile which I definitely do not get on with. My one isn't. I'm not sure what it would be classed as, but it's different to all the others I had tried.
  10. You’re not wrong there - absolutely solid. I’ve even tried putting the saddle in a clamp and using a pair of pliers to rotate the saddle screw. I knew it would knacker the thread on the screw, but it’s become a bit of a game now. I come back to it every couple of days and have another go 😂.
  11. Yes, exactly. I have a few Fender relics and there are no issues adjusting them. I should probably e-mail Mark and let him know.
  12. Yes, it would be bad enough if it was a one off, but I’ve heard that a reputable luthier dreads relic Limelight’s coming in for a set up as the rusted up bridges are always a problem. That can’t be a good business model for anyone.
  13. Sounds interesting. We need to know more. Not done it myself by the way.
  14. JamKazam is full of them if you’re happy to jam virtually.
  15. Oh I forgot to mention…. Given that this bass has only ever seen about 3/4 rehearsals, one gig and a few hours of playing time at home, when I took the strings off the bass, the A string gave way at the point where it was bent over to go down through the head of the tuner. That obviously filled me with joy once again 🙄.
  16. I don’t think this is worthy of another thread, so I’ll put this here should anyone be interested…. As some of you may have seen, I briefly put this bass up for sale a short while ago. It was primarily to fund another build I have going on and certainly was nothing to do with the quality of this bass. I took it out of its case to take some photos and then left it in the rack for a couple of days pending a possible sale. I had some interest on FB Marketplace and a guy a few miles away said he would buy it but wouldn’t have the funds for about a month. I said there was no hurry and I was happy to wait. I’m not sure what made me do it, but I picked the bass up for a quick noodle before putting it away again and noticed whilst doing some high octaves, that the intonation was very slightly out. When I sat down to adjust it the following day, I found that the bridge assembly was not adjustable in any way whatsoever! I’m not quite sure what they do to their bridges at Limelight in order get that relic/roadworn look, but they are completely useless in terms of adjustability. The only bridge saddle screw that would turn was the G string and that was after a bit of persuasion. The others were having none of it. I decided to soak the whole thing overnight. The following day the A and the D finally came free. I tried again with the E, but it was locked solid. After another soaking, I took the bridge off and screwed it to a scrap piece of wood and clamped it. After almost stripping the cross head on the bridge saddle screw, it finally came free. I don’t know why, but I hadn’t given any thought to the saddle height screws. Probably out of frustration with getting the other screws out. Needless to say, the heights screws were also locked. I bought some Penetrating Oil ‘guaranteed to release any rusted parts’. Does it f**k! Not these ones anyway. I’ve tried everything - I really do think they might be superglued in place 🤷‍♂️. End result - I ordered a complete new bridge assembly. I’ll probably still use the old bridge plate and springs, but have replaced the saddles and screws. I’ve since been informed that Limelight are known for this issue. Sadly I wasn’t aware at the time of ordering or I would not have specified any reliced hardware. A cautionary tale then - if you order a Limelight and fancy being able to adjust it at some point in the future then specify new hardware and not the rusty old crap they pass off as ‘reliced’.
  17. Make sure you don’t overshoot and end up in Canterbury. COVID central. People being advised to avoid the area.
  18. That's a fairly close description of our last gig in Hartlepool 😂. Due to the distance involved (from Essex) an overnight stay was necessary - that's where it went downhill.
  19. I think that’s the reason why we get so many varied responses in these ‘spare bass’ threads. People’s circumstances are different. As much as I would advocate always taking more than one bass, if I was doing a pub gig with a passive bass, I might be persuaded to take just the one and a set of spare strings. Theatres and dedicated music venues can be a different animal. I think it would be universally frowned upon to stop a theatre show for five minutes whilst one of the guitarists potters offstage to find some new strings/batteries.
  20. I never go to a rehearsal or a gig with less than two basses.
  21. I used a Suitcase with extension cab for years with a function band and it sounded great. I also have a ‘Bass Buddy’ for home practice which is a great piece of kit. Not cheap, but good gear in my book.
