  1. Any Genesis tribute band bass players here that could help with a couple of songs?

@doctor_of_the_bass Mr Nick Smith is your man, but I know he's a busy fella and hasn't visited for a while....

  2. Yes agreed. For that very reason I’ve tried very hard a number of times to listen and enjoy, but I can’t. My most recent rock covers start up is a re-boot of a band of which only the guitarist remains. He put forward their old set list which contained Rockin’ In The Free World. That got kicked in fairly short time 😂.
  3. Not wishing to split hairs, but for me, that’s slightly different to calling the band a poor man’s Rolling Stones. I would imagine it would be hard not to be influenced by Mick Jagger if you were a singer starting a rock band in the early 70’s. I’ll give you there are similarities in their stage moves, but I’ve seen them both and Tyler does it better. Vocally chalk and cheese, but YMMV 🤷‍♂️. It’s weird though, I’ve been thinking about your original question since you started the thread and I can’t think of an example myself. There are few artists that I dislike and those that I do, I can’t think of a track I like. I suppose if there is a Neil Young track on which he doesn’t sing, that might qualify. I can’t stand listening to his whiny off key vocal. Turned Absolute Rock off yesterday because he came on. Anything involving Marc Almond singing is another mood hoover - I cannot stand his voice.
  4. Ha ha. Jon’s building me a bass right now. We’re both faddy 😂
  5. I find this list a little odd. I’m a big fan of all of these bands and although some of the songs you have selected are OK, I think each band have done better - I mean a LOT better. Aerosmith a poor man’s Rolling Stones? I don’t think so.
  6. Ben Selleck, keys player in ChangesTwoBowie, has just released his first single and it’s currently #3 in the UK Country Chart. Have a listen and if you like it, £0.79 well spent if you ask me. Let’s see if we can get it higher. Different Sides (Of the Same Coin) - Single by Ben Selleck
  7. I think I would agree with you there as far as the 'Terror' line is concerned.
  8. Fad to me suggests something comes, is very popular (sometimes inexplicably so) and then goes. Barefaced are doing pretty well and grown as a company. Also, I think including Jon Shuker in a ‘gear fad’ list is a little insulting. Possibly Celinder too, but I don’t know much about them. The 4/5 string debate will go on forever. Sue Ryder basses and and that company I cannot pronounce, yeah, I’ll agree with you there.
  9. Yes, indeed. One of the best tribute bands name ever. Always makes me smile when I think of it.
  10. ….but Fortunate Son trumps anything The Eagles have done. In fact, that album ‘Willy & The Poor Boys’ is a cracker.
  11. Nice to know it’s fairly shallow. Do you know what the nut width and weight is?
  12. Future Impact? Seemed to be a whole lot of people getting them and then selling them some time later. Plus a few p’d off Deep Impact owners who had to drop their prices 😂 Still have my Future Impact though. That reminds me, I must update it to V 3.0.
  13. Creedence all day long for me. Every time I hear the Eagles on the radio I can hear The Dude complaining 😂
  14. Are you sure it's feedback you are hearing? I suspect it's probably not unless you're playing at volume right in front of the speaker enclosure.
  15. I think that deserves a full instrument photo 😀
  16. Yes and I’ve been close to buying one or two 😂. Doesn’t bother me tbh.
  17. You’re probably right in respect of some gigs i.e. those where the punters don’t get to speak with the band before/afterwards, but the people that I’ve spoken to that have asked about my ‘vintage Precision’, I’ve directed them towards Limelight. I would be more than happy to have a Limelight with their logo, or a Bravewood with theirs or a Nash with theirs.
  18. Calm down mate. It’s a bit of wood with a sticker on it.
