  1. In your humble opinion. You’re probably right though 😎.
  2. Full disclosure, I actually did consider buying the pink sparkle HH when it first arrived at Bass Direct. It would have suited my 80’s band perfectly, but I wasn’t prepared to drop £2,799 (I think) at the time. I saved the picture to my photos.
  3. If you find yourself wanting to give JamKazam a try, just message me and I’ll get myself on line whenever you have a spare moment mate.
  4. Depends on the job at hand really. I started many years ago as exclusively pick, then went the other way and now use both depending what is called for. When I do use a pick it’s Dunlop Tortex blue (1.0.mm) or the yellow ones, whatever size they are.
  5. Mmm, not sure what the minimum requirement is. You can try it for free though.
  6. Sounds like both are suitable for you. As far as I know, you have authorise your camera to switch on during a session, so it can't be forced on by anyone else if that's your worry.
  7. Don't know about Jamulus, but you can have a video feed for JamKazam if you want it, but it contributes to latency, so we don't use it.
  8. I've found JamKazam to be better since it went to the subscription based service.
  9. No, I love it and I’ve been recording myself a lot during lockdown. I spent most of yesterday trying to get a decent take of Footloose. I knew it was going to be a bit of a challenge, but after more than a few takes, I managed something fairly close to the dots I have. Listening back to it, I identified a couple of bits I need to work on, but I think it’s a good learning tool.
  10. What are you after? Just clocked you said ‘jazz style’ rather than specifically a jazz bass.
  11. I don't think it would be that difficult to get the same for considerably less that in the UK.
  12. The stupid thing, I didn’t want a custom finish. I wanted to order a bass with options they did provide, but not on the same bass. No build code = no bass. Told them what I thought and went elsewhere.
  13. Mmm, I have had conversations with them that proved otherwise. I knew exactly what I wanted and they refused. The customer isn’t always right apparently.
  14. I think it could be for ease of live performance, but as I said before, it’s been that way since at least 2013, so wasn’t just for Glasto. Just strikes me as odd.
  15. That video does indeed omit the first instance of it as per Jeff Lynne's live version, but when the video gets to the point where it does it for the second time, it is actually the same as the original recording.
  16. Bass straight into the interface and using JamKazam. No plug-in's either.
  17. I always go direct into the interface. Sounds just fine to me.
  18. I can’t help thinking I’ve seen that somewhere before.
  19. I've been playing a few tunes on JamKazam with a few of mates from my various bands and we thought we would have a stab at Mr.Blue Sky by ELO. It's fairly straight forward as far as the bass is concerned, but the keys player directed us towards Jeff Lynne's Glastonbury 2016 version below. When I originally learnt this song, I used the studio version from my vinyl edition of Out Of The Blue. For those familiar with it, there's a small off-beat section which is played in place of a chorus and it happens twice in the original. The live version only does it the second time around and when it does finally get there (at 2:53), it's dumbed down. I thought it might be a mistake at first, but when I checked the other live versions from 2013 & 2014, they are the same. It just seems a really odd change to make given the Jeff Lynne almost certainly chooses the talent he has on stage with him. I can't figure why on earth he would do that given he has a reputation for being quite particular.
  20. By paying JamKazam $9.99 a month (£7.35 according to my credit card bill). The issues that were present last year when everyone was using it for free seem to have disappeared since the paid subscription came in on 1/1/21.
