As I mentioned, we have never sold merchandise, but I have been shocked at how many people have asked for it at gigs all the same. Alcohol and even a half decent gig makes punters part with cash - fact.

Indeed, that's the way to do it. We've not sold a penny's worth of merchandise and don't intend to either. Probably slightly different for us and our original artist is dead, but you still have to be sensible.

I did message him, just in case he ever wanted to sell, but got no response.

@AndyTravis - it may not have made you the better player (your words - although I suspect that’s far from the truth), but it’s a lifetime of experience of owning/adjusting/tweaking various kinds of basses. You can’t buy that knowledge alone. You have to go through it. There are a few on your list (and others) that I have yet to try and would like to at some point: Schecter Robert DeLeo, Guild, Yamaha Attitude. I’ll get round to them one day I’m sure. Thanks for sharing - it makes me feel slightly less guilty 😂. Is this just for basses you no longer have?

The black 4003 with the gold pick guard looks hideous. I could go with the Stealth one though, but £2.4k for that! I don't think so.

Mmm. As @4000 said, I have bought from them before, but nothing significant. I would imagine it has something to do with what they get charged for CC transactions and that it's a % of the sale. Possibly?

It seems odd that when you go to check out (I just tried it) that they advertise Apple Pay, PayPal and Visa and other CC's, but you can't pay with them. Have they refused to accept a credit card?

Given that you can see the side of the neck to the right, I think there is a bit of angle involved there. However, I have noticed with a lot of SR5’s that there isn’t much board available on either side.

The black burst type model looks nice, but I don’t need another Stingray. I DO NOT need another Stingray. I DO NOT.......... That amethyst one looks horrible. I like the finish, but that pick-up colour and plate can do one.

@Steve Browning - I agree the thread should exist as it’s brought a lot of pressure to bear. It’s also brought quite a few new people to the forum by its existence and that’s got to be a good thing. That said, there’s a lot of unnecessary posts in it and I recognise the easiest way to police that is to lock it, keep it visible (searchable) and rely on the members here to point people in the right direction if the name comes up again. I also think complaints about threads being locked are best discussed via PM with Mods/Admin or they can come across the wrong way. Maybe it’s just me.

Having it pinned here may possibly stop a member here (who doesn't already know) from dealing with him, but that's a very small percentage of his potential customer base. As I said above, the thread has not been deleted, so it's not invisible to an internet search. I don't see how you intend to fully protect the world from this person. I also don't see the point of whinging about threads being closed when an Admin or Mod has chosen to take that course of action.

Complicit in what exactly? The thread hasn't been erased and it can still be found through a search engine.

I'm just considering sending a CS neck away for some TLC. This has right put me off.

Interesting. On the first occasion I used them, as per my post earlier in this thread, the issue was (apparently)that I DID put a space in the postcodes. This resulted in a rescheduled collection from me, so no biggie. Every time I have used them since, I have put no slaves in any postal codes and it’s been OK. What difference it makes in the UK I have no idea. You’d have to be fairly stupid to not find your way to a correct postcode with or without spaces.

I would be interested to hear @three's thoughts on the differences between the USA and Skyline basses. The USA I bought from him is just stunningly good, clearly better in fit and finish than the couple of Skyline's I've tried since, but I'm aware that's only a couple of comparisons so I don't think I'm in a position to judge.

In fairness, I didn’t buy the Smith (which I really wanted) and resisted buying your Bravewood, so the method is working for me at the moment.

I don't think I have a snowball's chance in hell of getting through 2021 without an errant purchase or three, but I will try 😎.
