George Murray - David Bowie 1976 to 1981
toneknob replied to leeeroy57's topic in General Discussion
George's playing on that run of albums from Station To Station to Scary Monsters is untouchable. Live versions on Stage, and more recently released Nassau and Blackout simply dial up the tone and feel of the whole band. What a player. If it's of interest here's an interview with George by Hikaru Davis, son of drummer Dennis Davis of the DAM band. -
Hi all - this is a prime example of the Future Impact pedal, with firmware updated to v3.61 with the latest v3.5 factory default sound presets, and housed in the original Future Impact v1 case. The pedal is in mint condition, following the guidelines at reverb.com ("Mint items are in essentially new original condition but have been opened or played"). It has only been used for home, rehearsal and studio projects, and is free from marks, dents or other blemishes. Included are the manual and original box, both in excellent condition. Although the manual is minimal, you'll find endless resources online, starting with the Future Impact website. The price includes UK delivery using Royal Mail Special Delivery Next Day by 1pm. For overseas delivery, please send a message and I'll work out postage to your location. Any questions, please ask.

Now I'm back from a few days away, here are the links to mine and his adverts: original reverb: https://reverb.com/item/83600242-panda-audio-future-impact-bass-guitar-synthesizer-pedal one of the copies: https://www.facebook.com/groups/992440637527378/permalink/7357463641025014 (shout if the links are broken) anyway I'll be listing on basschat soon at no-fees BC rates so get in now if you're interested!

It's now appeared on a third page, the admin there says "dunno really, looks bad but I think it's above board". So score one each for Bad, No Reply and CBA so far. (it's definitely not AI btw)
-
Thanks for the suggestion, AI should be cleverer than a word for word copy. I've contacted admins of the two Facebook pages I've seen the copied version of my ad, just to get their opinion - one of them removed the ad in minutes. No reply from the other.

Hi - I posted a pedal on reverb.com yesterday, and just noticed in one of the many Facebook Buy/Sell/Trade groups an advert for the same pedal, different photos but 99% the same text (the 1% is an extra sentence which is 100% nothing like I would say) Should I be flattered that he's nicked my text, offended that he's not nicked my photos, or jotting his name down as a potential scammer? Or is this a common tactic by the lazy but legitimate seller?

Good luck with the gig next week! It's bit of a hike for me, any more coming up?

turns out I have bought one

I've no idea what it does but I want one https://www.instagram.com/reel/C7wYAlMMkvH/ https://reverb.com/item/82168901-earthquaker-devices-x-death-by-audio-time-shadows-ii-subharmonic-multi-delay-resonator-cyberpunk-edition

There's a Beatles tribute where the Paul, a naturally right-handed player, has learnt to be ambidextrous and does those gigs playing lefty. I'm not sure all the others are trying hard enough tbh

Great to see the Forty Six & 2 encore last night. An amazing gig - sounded great, looked brilliant and loved the no photos rule. More like this please! -

Some tribute acts pride themselves on how closely they mimic the tributee act. A well-known tribute act spent thousands of dollars to track down the same silk that was used to line the lead singer's cloak, used on the opening song. I approached the bassist of said band at an after-show at the Royal Albert Hall. Being left-handed, I asked him if he was learning to play right-handed to look the part (I had been enjoying the free drinks). I, ahem, can't remember his answer unfortunately

I was the Rutherford in several Genesis tribute bands. I'm not 6ft3 with a beard, but had tick in box for Rickenbacker 4001, Shergold double-neck, 12-string acoustic, Moog Taurus bass pedals. I got some of the notes right as well!

I grew up in Fleet. The fact that Stewart Copeland is doing a gig (albeit spoken word) in the room where I used to go to school discos and fail to pull is making my 13-year old head spin.

Genesis set list question....
toneknob replied to hiram.k.hackenbacker's topic in General Discussion
Genesis had a thing for starting their late 70s and 80s shows with a song from the preceding album, so the 11th Earl is a giveaway that this is an ATTWT show. Here's a typical setlist from that tour: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/genesis/1978/municipal-auditorium-austin-tx-2bdf40e6.html - "Home" would be the encore I Know What I Like, again for who knows what reasons. -
