Day trip to Kutna Hora for the Sedlec Ossuary if you're a fan of chapels built from the bones of thousands of Black Death victims. Otherwise there's a museum of medieval torture devices, and a museum of sex machines. Take turns guessing which one you're in as you wander around. Be sure to visit U Flecku, a bar where they brew their own delicious beer. When they start offering the walnut liqueur, refuse as it's expensive and will get you trousered in a less pleasant way than the beer. The castle is pretty good, set aside a day for a visit there and the park on that side of the river.

Go and pick it up with the understanding that you'll try it out on the day and if it's not right, then no sale.

What're you sending? Royal Mail 2nd class works a treat for me, often as fast as first.

Waitresses, Christmas Wrappin' notation please

I've probably still got the scanned version mentioned above if anyone wants it - but I doubt that Dropbox link works. Drop me a line if you're interested. BGM are you seeing this btw -
Likewise - I was commenting on the No Treble facebook about the transition and mentioned what I'd miss. (I think I've covered this here as well). The No Treble editor chimed in "Hey Tone you can get all of that on NT". I said you're right but I can't read No Treble in the bath. "You got me there pal".

Having been a PhD student myself while also holding down 4 bands, I can sympathise! I hope my comment didn't come across too priggish, but having seen you at gigs/clinics/etc over the years and on SBL geeking out on effects and hardware I was a bit surprised when your column was quarter notes on the open E string. But also as mentioned I've not actually read the mag yet, just had a quick flick through - I'm a few months behind.

Not A Word About The Queen Movie Bohemian Rhapsody?
toneknob replied to Bluewine's topic in General Discussion
I've not watched the video above, but this has got some good fact vs fiction info as well - https://www.movienco.co.uk/news/bohemian-rhapsody-the-real-story-vs-the-film/ and also https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/freddie-mercury-queen-biopic-bohemian-rhapsody-movie-fact-check-746195/ ....Mostly regarding that the band didn't split up, Live Aid wasn't a reunion, etc etc. -
Not A Word About The Queen Movie Bohemian Rhapsody?

I liked Bob Geldof and the hilarious David Hepworth next to him in the "Giz yer feckin money" scene. And spotting who's who at Live Aid - eg a mostly hidden David Bowie very early on, Dire Straits finishing Sultans Of Swing as Queen silly billy around in their caravan, and apparently the U2 drummer somewhere to be seen as well. As others have said the Live Aid sequence is goose-pimple good. -
I've received my first copy of the "new" BP (ie the USA version). Haven't read it yet but first impressions on a flick-through were (a) more text (b) more pics in reviews and (c) Steve Lawson is massively underused. And of course where's my full song transcription boo hoo.

Do you think you'll play sitting down, or standing up with a strap on?

Did everyone spot the pre-bald Tony Levin lurking in the back with Steve Gadd in the 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover clip?

Live music venues close to London Waterloo?
toneknob replied to Stylon Pilson's topic in General Discussion
Corsica at Elephant & Castle Omeara in Borough sometimes the Vaults under Waterloo station does stuff, but that tends to be corporate hires these days Somerset House in the summer -

Bit of both, depending on the topic. Joe's going to get straight down to some serious theory. You're going to ffwd through Scott's family life before getting down to business. But then again I pay for Scott and watch Joe for free. Adam Neely is brilliant, if you like him also check out Jeff Schneider, a sax player but is going to bring some jazziness to your playing.

I was really enjoying it up until around Funky Duck, then someone was sick on me so priorities changed somewhat

Fish & Chips - go to Poppies in Shoreditch (preferably) or there's another one more central in Old Compton St or Camden. Other food - what do you like? There's at least one of eveything.

Seen them a few times - first was in 1997! also notably with Steve Hackett helping out in the encores at the Royal Albert Hall. I always found it odd that they would only play "the album version" (to infinitesimal degrees of accuracy mind you) - is still the case?

Still available. The spare is for Thursday btw, which isn't at all obvious from the above.
-
Already posted, thanks. Seems to be quite a lot of turnover for these gigs though (and Friday isn't sold out)
-
Going Friday! Got a spare single ticket (downstairs standing) if anyone wants it.

One day there'll one magazine for everything, it'll be called "Stuff" no wait that's taken. "Things"?

"English flavor" So will US BP be a reskinned version of UK BGM? Or will it be called BGM in USA?

I'd advise not driving for your own sanity - but here's the local CPZs map. https://www.lambeth.gov.uk/sites/default/files/pts-cpz-map-22-08-2018.pdf - the area around the venue is in zone B, so you can park on-street after 5.30pm where road markings allow. Always defer to the parking rules where you park though just in case.
