1. Don't recall any whistling songs. Rather than rely on my failing memory, setlist.fm to the rescue: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/ponty-eastwood-lagrene-trio/2018/barbican-hall-london-england-63efcac7.html
2. Nigel Kennedy was in the audience as well btw. Overheard him crack a "he'll never get that under his chin" gag at Kyle.
3. Yep I was there - really enjoyed it. He's quite tall isn't he? Listening to Samba De Paris now, one of his songs from last night. Good stuff.
4. Tom Peterson. Also Doug Pinnick of Kings X has a custom 12 from Yamaha.
5. And some not so world class photos from the Analogman website: http://www.analogman.com/tlev.htm
6. Here's Tony Levin's world-class effects board currently accompanying him on tour with world class King Crimson. Analogman Bi-Comp there for all to see https://reverb.com/news/on-stage-with-king-crimson-the-live-rig-of-the-radical-action-tour

8. Hi, My band Velcro Pelmet is back in action this Saturday at The Union Jack in Southwark, easily reached from Waterloo and London Bridge. We'll be doing our selection of originals and standards from the jazz/rock/fusion genre. Hope to see you there! Check out the facebook event at https://www.facebook.com/events/873628712813575/ for more details. Kick off around 8pm. Our last gig featured some of our own material plus familiar tunes from the likes of Herbie Hanpink torpedo, Zappa, Miles Davis, Mahavishnu, Pat Metheny, Weather Report, Billy Cobham, Jaco's big band. You can hear what we sound like at https://velcropelmet.com/music but watch out for the autoplay! Tony
9. 14/15 (also got the Pixies-related one wrong)
10. Tickets for Gizmodrome at the Scala in London have just gone on sale for Wednesday March 18th. £40ish incl p&p.
11. I was responsible** for Colin Greenwood out of Radiohead buying Norman Watt-Roy's shoreline gold Fender Jazz **one link in the chain
12.
Oh, and I played Greg Lake's 8-string bass a couple of times: once at Manchester uni and once in a bass shop in Romford.
I took my double-neck 4/8-string Shergold in to Chandlers in Kew for a service. While talking to one of the Chandlers, another interrupted, "sorry mate, we've got Greg Lake on the blower with an urgent question, mind if your man talks to him?" "Not at all. Ask him if he wants to buy a Shergold double-neck, yeah?" (he didn't)
13. iReal Pro might be a rather over-egged pudding of a solution (in that you'll also get loads of jazz standards with it, but you can upload your own and transpose etc)
14. Don't waste time trying to sound like your heroes. They don't sound much like you either.
15. James Brown's Santa Claus Goes Straight To The Ghetto Vulfpeck's Christmas in LA these and many others feature in my non-intolerable Xmas playlist at https://open.spotify.com/user/toneknob/playlist/20XsgQ4kMStnkfZF6iNYdB
16. Some fretted 4s One fretless 4 One "acoustic" 4 (fretless, hollow body, tubey onboard preamp) One "other" (double-neck 4/12-string guitar)
17.
For now - as I'm only dipping a toe - max £250. So, second hand really.
There's loads of bargains to be had in the for sale ads on basschat. Also the bass-related facebook groups seem to be quite busy.
18. Here they are at Red Rocks supporting the Trey Anastasio Band (Trey sits in for a couple of songs) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DY_jAY9bsf0
19.
They make the individual bass, guitar, drum, vocal audio tracks available. If you have recording software such as Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase etc, you can import the individual instruments you want as a backing track, and play along. The suggestion here is that you can load everything but the bass part and 'be Joe Dart' for a bit I'm seeing them in London tomorrow, thought I was going to miss it due to playing myself, but gig got cancelled......hooorray! Si
Thanks! That sounds quite cool, and a nice next step from the nugs.net (etc) scene of releasing every gig (see for example Snarky, Phish, Umphrey's, Mule and that lot) Hand also up for London gig tomorrow. LCD Soundsystem tonight. Sunday quiet sitting.
