1.
Excellent, Thanks toneknob. I was at the friends and family show, amazing!
Excellent - I think I'd have had a little episode at that Cirkus-Fracture-Lizard section of the first half had I been at that one.
2. And hot off the DGM press, "As promised, we are uploading a song from every night of the 2016 European tour - a slightly random selection from the setlist taken direct from the soundboard for those who are either following the tour at a distance, or seek a memento of the gig that just rattled their senses. And what better place to start than "Easy Money" from the family and friends show at Aylesbury." Start here: http://www.dgmlive.com/archive.htm?artist=35&show=2083
3.

Here's last night's setlist: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/king-crimson/2016/waterside-theatre-aylesbury-england-3bfc6c24.html Click through for Sunday and Saturday. Also gear-wise TLev was using an Ampeg amp (not visible) and a Kemper Profiler, which he was tinkering with throughout, and is modern enough for me to not really understand.
4. I saw the second show (third if you count the "Friends & Family" secret show on Saturday) last night at the Waterside in Aylesbury. New to the set were Lizard, Cirkus, Fracture, Heroes, as well as the usual rotation of old and new hits. No Larks' Tongues for us last night though. Tony Levin on fine form as ever armed with 4- and 5-string Stingrays, NS Electric Upright and Chapman Stick (no fretless apart from the NS).
5.
I've seen the tribute band G2 use a 2nd drummer occasionally.
I once played with The Carpet Crawlers, who do a two-drum show. Their next "tour" is the 1986/7 Invisible Touch show. 30 years old already.
6. +1 for Goldwave. I've got Reaper as well, just not got around to using it much yet.
7. Genesis - but this was before We Can't Dance and Invisible Touch (just about) so it's ok.
8. Meanwhile if anyone's interested, Rubbish Vic and his mates the awful drummer Dennis Chambers and some sax bloke Bob Franceschini are playing in London at the Rah Rah Rooms on Piccadilly (this last bit is serious despite not sounding it) Tickets at https://www.ticketabc.com/events/victor-wooten-trio/ (and others), blurb at http://www.rahrahroom.com/rah-rah-live/
9. It's Enterprise that taught me the valuable rehearsal room lesson of "if you want to sing, always bring your own mic"
10.
We rehearsed a few times there last year and we all struggled with the heat and smell in there. We couldn't tell if it was BO, urine, damp, or a mixture of all three.
Sigh, reminds me of happy times in Enterprise...
11.
thanks for these! brixton / balham ideal for me, no good for the others.. blue studios will be perfect for another time, they do have an electric piano so we'll be using them soon. we're looking into New Rose as well, so I may well be round for those stale biscuits soon.
Forgot to say - BHS have pianos in at least the two larger studios.
12. Is this any help? It's probably a bit out of date, so take with a pinch of salt https://drive.google.com/open?id=1PDTRQjut-mcrUpNJ217hxc7_CjI&usp=sharing My usuals are Brixton Hill Studios and Unit 9 in Balham, might be outside your range though.
13.
I posted slightly wrongly in my last post (rushing, my apologies!). It's edited now, but it should have been D3 = D(octave higher). D1+3 means that this overtone exists at both D1 (12th fret) or D3 (5th or 24th fret), and you can pick which based on your personal discretion!
Right! Got it, thanks. I was reading "+" as "plus", "add" rather than "or". Seeing as D4 is an F# an octave plus a major third above the 12th fret harmonic, you can see how it might be open to interpretation.
14.
Yep, it was Jobson and Wetton with Alex Machacek and Virgil Donati. They played London (and Leamington Spa?) as part of the 'Final World Tour'.
And again a couple of years before that in 2012, where Crim fans heard Wetton sing Starless and Book Of Saturday. I'm quite fond of Wetton's playing in this version of Firth Of Fifth, particularly in the guitar solo, about 5mins in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sd0pixr81rg
15. Thanks - yep I got that from your previous post. It's D1+3 I'm trying to understand. What is it, and where do I find one?
16.
Opps! Those larger charts weren't supposed to be included in this PDF. They're a hint at some of the things the larger work contains The left hand column lists the pitches of the three overtones in question, which are then placed in function over all 12 chromatic roots in the subsequent columns. There is some info on the bottom of the sheet, but largely they're a guide to what's more or less usable. Green is best, blue more complex, orange mostly nonsense and red non-diatonic voicings.
Thanks for the explanation! And the revised sheet makes much more sense now thanks. Just so I'm 100%, can you explain your Overtone Location shorthand. I guess A2 is second overtone of A (ie 12th fret harmonic, or 5th fret?) but what's D1+3?
17. There's no questioning your devotion to the task, but I have simply no idea how I would use your chart in practice. Can you explain how I use it? So for example - what does the EAeGb (etc) refer to top left of each table - what does the left hand column signify (three notes, E G G# for the first row of the first table) - are the columns each the root note of a chord? - what do the shading colours represent? Thanks!
18. In my next band, rehearsal costs will be settled at booking time, at the previous rehearsal, with everyone's diary clear for the date that's booked - ie next rehearsal is all paid for in advance. This will of course never happen.
19. New Moon for "big stuff" - instruments, amps, synths. Household contents covers pedals, cables, other bits and bobs.
20. Parts of it were brilliant, parts terrible. I really enjoyed Anna Calvi, Phillipe Jaroussky, Laura Mvula, Paul Buchanan. Not sure what to make of Amanda Palmer, but loved the Blackstar section. Not so keen on John Cale, Marc Almond. Neil Hannon looked terrified. The trombonist and flautist [s]were pretty hot[/s] can be in my next band. But massive props to the Beeb and Proms and everyone else who tried to do something original. I'm getting really tired of things like "Bowie tribute karaoke", this embarrassing "Immersive Ziggy Stardust Experience" http://www.radiox.co.uk/artists/david-bowie/news/immersive-ziggy-stardust-experience-london-event/ and I had the misfortune to witness the opening few songs of an orchestral DB tribute at Wilderness Festival last weekend, fronted by Kate Nash. Mrs Knob said "I can tell your ears are getting angry, come on let's go do something else".
21. It was one of these: http://www.terapeak.com/worth/vintage-peavey-tnt115-tnt-115-bass-amp-amplifier-scorpion-equipped-j1378/181946187095/ I think one of the main reasons for trading up to the Trace was handles. That one strap on top was a killer, compared to the comfy spring loaded side handles on the Trace.
