one down from the Black Widow speaker was the Sheffield speaker?
A bit of googling suggests it was the Scorpion, which sounds familiar. But now I'm confused as to which was the better spec'd model, the Scorpion or the BW?

I sense a theme developing here. My first proper amp in 1991ish was a Peavey TNT 115 (not the Black Widow version though - what was the slightly lesser cousin called?) That got traded up for a Trace Elliot 7215 in the mid-90s, which I've still got. For size and weight reasons, the Trace might be on the way out soon though. Twenty years(!) on though, and I have no idea what I'm looking for.

Here tis. You forgot to mention some blokes on the drums and guitar! Phil Collins and Pete Townsend. Some lovely footage of MK around the 2m05s mark. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMl_wPCv0No

Who on Basschat has the most expensive bass?

I used to work for a well-known (now ex) computer games company, and at the second interview I was talking to the company founder (a bit of character/ego) and the more grounded project manager. Proj Mgr sees I'm a musican from my CV and asks what I've got. 1975 black Ricky, "Ooo"; double-neck Shergold bass/12 "oh! well you are a prog fan I guess"; Musicman StingRay fretless "nice!" (under his breath) "show off". Company founder gets a bit huffy that he's not the centre of attention any more, says "well I'VE got a 1978 PAIR OF PANTS in YELLOW so there" and leaves the room (still got the job) -
Good man, toneknob. Satellite Precision copy here. Must be worth all of £50. Mine's bigger/more expensive that yours, eh?
See you round the back of the bins for a weigh-off. -
Yes! How long has that been gone?? Life is short. Edit: Just Googled it. It's been closed for EIGHT YEARS.
really? I never noticed My monitor/pigeon incident would've been in the mid-90s by the way. You could drive all the way down James St to the piazza then, I seem to remember.

Remember the Rock Garden? underneath what is now the Apple Shop on the piazza in Covent Garden. After a sound check there I exuberantl jumped off stage, and in mid air crack my head on one of the overhead monitors. Feeling a bit woozy (it was bleeding a bit) I went outside for some fresh air and sat down on the kerb at the side of the market. And got sh@t on by a pigeon

The Lambeth Country Show has got something for everyone: jousting, sheepdog trials, wheelbarrow decoration, camel racing, prize-winning, fruit and veg, sheep shearing, ferociously strong Chucklehead Cider sold in polystyrene cartons. It takes place in Brockwell Park, handy for Herne Hill, Brixton, Tulse Hill and surrounding areas. All that AND a session from my jazz/rock fusion band Velcro Pelmet. We're on at 4pm at the Village Green Oxjam Takeover stage. Lets hope it doesn't clash with the jousting. More info: https://www.facebook.com/VelcroPelmet/ http://lambethcountryshow.co.uk See you there!
£35! Makes the festival day ticket at £52 seem like super value. Funny thing was I saw the drummer setting up at LS and he looked like the most laid back person there.
I liked his hair and sunglasses! Yep, If I could have made LS I'd have happily gone along for Esperanza/Stanley/SMG then wandered off home happy.
Lianne Le Havas - Class act. Really enjoyed this set. Genuinely lovely and a great singer. Freda? from Native dancer was on backing vocals and the band were great. Bass player was flipping between a Ripper and a P. The Ripper won and sounded awesome through a vintage ampeg and not what I expected in this type of music but it really worked.
She's great isn't she. I caught her on Jools a few years ago doing a solo set and Mrs Knob was also keen from the get-go. We've seen her a few times in London venues and various festivals (perhaps even an early Love Supreme).
Stanley Clarke - Stanley was/is obviously amazing and he and his alembics sounded great (through 2 ampeg 8x10) but his drummer was really not my thing. He made animal out of the muppets seem like Des O'connor. I've never seen anyone look like they want to destroy their kit with such a brutal assault. Stanley seemed to love him though so what do I know Missed Eric Truffaz while watching Stanley but a mate said he was fantastic. I did catch his bass player sound checking and he was great.
See what you mean about Stan's drummer. Have a look whose name is over the door, sunshine. Otherwise we heard Pork Pie, a bit of Lopsy Lu and some of Captain Senor Mouse. A bit disappointing overall though - I saw Stan with Hiromi earlier in the year for a much more musical and satisfying experience. Perhaps I'm getting sensible in my middle years! It was a 90-minute set, and some guy said to the security man on the way out "why was it so short?" (of course security man was clueless). I can see where he's coming from for a £35 ticket, especially when showtime was advertised for 8.30, actual stage time was 9pm, curfew at 10.30. Stan wanted to do more but was under pressure from the venue to clear off. The new Jazz Cafe is pretty swish mind you - they've got rid of that bar that created the terrible bottleneck and the place has a much more open feel.
Fantastic player. Only musician I saw all day playing a fretless... I forgot to to mention she had some sort of mechanism on her waist where she hooked her bass on dispensing the need for a strap. Not seen that before. Might be of interest to those here who have shoulder probs...
Yep, I saw her at the Barbican a couple of years ago doing the Chamber Music show. Bit polite for me, so I was slow on the uptake with D+Evolution, which is a smashing album. Sad to have missed the show, but I'm seeing Stanley tonight at the Jazz Caff and Giuliana later in the year - those three were the main attractions for the weekend for me.

Did you catch Esperanza Spalding? edit: I've actually read your post properly now.

Looking forward to the London gig tonight. Stage time there is 8.30pm, 11pm curfew if that's any help. No support.

yes, that's a year gone very quickly. Still a huge sound in my ears today and for many years. There's probably a legion of bc readers on the edges of their seats ready to give recommendations if asked... (Fragile, The Yes Album, Relayer would be my top three albums)
I think you're out of luck. It should be before Time Is Running Out and it isn't. The iplayer version doesn't seem to include it. I expect it got the chop, probably for the same reason as Adele's set when she f***ed up River Lea. It was the first time she had performed that live though.
Oh, that's a shame. Thanks for looking anyway. For the rookie Muse-o, what songs would you recommend from the Glastonbury set?
It's 13 of 19. Go here.... http://www.setlist.f...d-43fe4b4f.html
Thanks! (the actual timing would be really handy though!)
