2.
I have nothing, but am sick that I dumped all my ticket stubs from years ago. I had loads and it was a real bit of nostalgia !
Oh do ticket stubs count? https://flic.kr/s/aHsjyttj4A

5.
Queen (with freddie)
24 years ago today, gawd bless him.
6. The Oo (with John Entwistle) Bowie when he was good and still touring and had George Murray in the band, eg 1978 U2's Zoo TV tour Peter Gabriel's Secret World tour (sorry there's only one proper "not around any more" answer)
7. Dave does a move straight out of the Dancing In The Street video in Blackstar. Ffwd to about 5m46s, under the lyric "you're the flash in the pan".
8. Or, I usually get lucky on Scarlet Mist. Not as sexy as it sounds.
9. I avoid this kind of problem by only seeing really unpopular bands
10. He picked it up on his travels.
11. Well, the astronaut is clearly Major Tom, who's crash-landed on another planet (or maybe future Earth). Everyone's evolved and grown tails and lost their sense of rhythm. Tom is hailed as a god of that new planet. The narrator in the lyrics is a prophet of the new Major Tom religion, and is referring to Tom as the "he", ie "something happened on the day he died". The "Blackstar" is where Tom appeared from - a black hole - and is the symbol of the new religion, much like the cross in Christian religion.
12. We'll all be "doing the Blackstar" at Christmas parties this year
13. Alan Spenner fans with good taste should check out the original Jesus Christ Superstar album (there's a myriad of versions, don't get the film OST by mistake which is I believe someone else) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5F8jLt9XiI Check out Superstar at 1:18:15 and What's The Buzz at 0:09:54.
14. I learnt this version. Trousers n'all. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waIhJDgC5dQ
15. I fell asleep standing up watching the Quireboys some time in the late 80s. Ditto Transatlantic more recently. Good stuff but a 3.5 hour gig and the opening song is 80 minutes. Learn some self-editing, chaps!
16.
Yeah, I was there too! Pretty full on gig. I actually just really love hearing Hiromi chill out sometimes and play straightahead. That blues section with just her and Anthony was lovely - she's got great touch.
Yep, some amazing moments. I was fifth row centre, and even so AJ's right had was obscured by his music stand, and Simon Phillips face had a large cymbal right in the way. Cracking kit though. First thing I did when I got out was spotify a couple of live versions of Toto's Rosanna.
17. More R40 clips... Xanadu: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlmvdK3yzvs ...and Subdivisions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaSQHNg9UtE
18. Hiromi with Anthony Jackson and Simon Phillips last night at the RFH. Pretty hot stuff.
19. How about http://zculbert.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/view-teentown-bass-on-scribd.html
20.
Just hoping that our internet feed will be fast enough. May even stand outside the house in the cold for 45 minutes first and then get the wife to bump into my chair every 5 mins to make the experience "real"
Invite some strangers in to sit on far end of the sofa and chat loudly about their day.
21. Fiver for a HD live stream: http://ronniescottsjazzclub.cleeng.com/steve-gadd-band-live-stream/E251544075_GB
22. Really enjoyed the screening last night. Some very difficult viewing in places though. I stayed for most of the credits, and spotted quite a few names in the "thanks for their time" list who didn't appear in the movie, Nick Beggs for example. Is there going to be a "director's cut" with the added material?
23.
I did wonder if that was it but didn't think it would be that substantial. As a cheeky follow on, when checking / setting intonation, is it best to tune to open & 12th fret or is there some other voodoo?
The 12th fret harmonic and the note fretted at the 12th fret should be the same pitch. Fiddle with bridge settings and retune until they match, or you get bored of not really being able to hear the difference anyway
