I'm liking the look of that. Just need to get it on a board now! Also, by the looks of it, you have the coiled cable joining up the input and output of your "B" loop. Is that acting as a clean blend for the pedals in Loop "A"? If so, I'm pretty sure you don't need to actually run a cable between them - if you leave them both empty, it does the same job. Unless of course I'm seeing it wrong, in which case carry on!
Thanks Paul, yes that's exactly the intent of the curly lead - mix in a clean signal with the fuzz (Bushy Bison), wah (105Q) or env filter (the Ashdown). I've not given the LS-2's manual too close a read, but I was totally oblivious to what you've suggested, and if that's the case, then it makes a big difference to the cabling - thanks! I got the idea from a Scott Devine video where he does the same, but the B loop has an octave pedal on it for added low end. I just assumed I could do kind of the same but without the pedal, just a cable from B "out" to B "in".

Still a work in progress, but aren't they all... Out of shot: Diago Power Station, GigMan. To be added: MarkBass Super Synth, Sonuus Wahoo, a few others...

The board is never final! Although havign said that, here's a tip I discovered recently that LS-2 is really good for (looks like you're doing this kind-of anyway). I've got pedals that can suck a bit too much bottom end out the signal (wah, fuzz, env filter) on the A loop of my LS-2. The B loop is just the input routed back to itself. The LS-2 is set to mix A+B, or full bypass. So whenever I'm using those effects, I've always got a bit of dry signal being mixed back in. The from the output of the LS-2 I've got other pedals which don't affect bottom end too much... chorus, desampler, volume. The plan is to get my Super Synth and Wahoo in this part of the path as well. Pre-LS-2 are tuner, compressor and preamp. Here's a pic from a recent rehearsal, so far unboarded:

Interesting reading all round - thanks everyone. And very good timing too, as I need to get two amps, some hifi gear and maybe a PA tested before a venue will let me use my gear rather than their own (at their own vastly inflated money-printing machine price). Can anyone recommend a PAT tester in or around SW London? Or shall I just call up a local electrician?

Gruv Gear Gig Blade - Kickstarter Campaign
toneknob replied to madshadows's topic in General Discussion
Well, the chocolate lab is really too cool. Is that a iGig that they've cut up for the prototype? It looks like a good idea, although I'm not sure of the benefits of carrying something really heavy on just one shoulder. The good thing about a backpack style gig bag is that the weight is evenly distributed across your shoulders. -
Play an open E. Then, without looking, find the octave on the other strings in all positions. Check against your open E. Repeat for your other open strings. Then repeat with the open E, but look for fifths this time. Find all the Bs all over the neck and check against your open string. Repeat for all strings. Repeat again for major thirds, dominant sevenths etc etc... it'll begin to sound like music eventually.
I or 2, though I've met people who have this odd idea that rehearsal is when you learn the song.
This happens to me as well. Multiply that by a free rehearsal room where the amps, drum kit and PA are in situ and you can guess what happens.

Two or three, assuming everyone's got mp3s or whatever of the version your'e using for reference. Assuming a two-set gig, one 4-hour rehearsal per set and another for polish, tops and tails etc. But of course Roland Rock is absolutely correct in his first comment above
I'd just like to say thanks from everyone in a band trying to make a living.
You're welcome! Seriously, huge love and respect to our brethern who are making good cash doing the wedding ents. But I stand by my comments for my own wedding: typical (Mustang Sally/Brown Eyed Girl/etc) wedding bands are not for me; and I've got other things to spend the cash on that B2B can be overly picky about instead of me. That said, there will be a short musical interlude at my own do starring me. But I'm cheap

Where's your fretting hand thumb? If it's hooked over the top of the neck, getting big stretches in will be really hard. If it's lightly supporting the back of the neck, your four fingers will fan out more naturally. Scott Devine's got a good vid about fretting hand positioning - see http://www.scottsbasslessons.com/technique/right-and-left-hand-positioning.html about 4 minutes in.

Jimmy Haslip's solo on 'the fifth' - what's going on ?
toneknob replied to ambient's topic in General Discussion
Sounds like a software glitch to me. I can't hear it on the version that's on Spotify: Allan Holdsworth – The Fifth - about 2m50s is. -

Check out his solo work too, I love the album Bestial Cluster from the mid-90s. Here's the title track. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPIRIYGQmEE

Bassist needed for established Phil Collins tribute band
toneknob replied to toneknob's topic in Bassists Wanted
Hi Steff, yes as far as I know NJR have recently brought their new bassist on board. Having said that, if you're really interested then there's no harm in dropping them a line to say you're up for it and to consider you if they ever need a dep. -

Easiest Dream Theater Song On A 4-string Bass
toneknob replied to greyshark's topic in General Discussion
I learned Erotomania on 4-string years ago (mid 90s) when a transcription appeared in one of the American guitar mags. There's a couple of low notes but nothing that doesn't sound odd an octave up. -
I bought Andy's Darkglass Harmonic Booster - really easy transaction, good price, quick replies to communications. Nice one!

Terminal as well, nice big rooms but they're more spendy. Also look out for Husky, Borough Studios and (new to me) The Miller. toneknob replied to Cairobill's topic in General Discussion
Any recommendations? Rogue any good for example?
Rogue are pretty good, and handy for the train line into London Bridge. And, quite unusually, they have an online booking system, and it actually works (and I think it's cheaper if you book this way)
