1. Any recommendations for a Hercules stand that packs up really small and my Jazz bass won't fall off?
2.
But then again, what about a 'tribute' band made up of various ex-members who performed and wrote the songs? - are they a tribute to the name of the band or themselves?
Oh, like Yes you mean
3. When I was doing the Genesis tribute band circuit, pretty much all "current" and ex members at some point came to see one of the then-active bands. The general feeling one got was that of "thanks for taking the effort to play the music". Steve Hackett once said "I forgot how hard it all was" (regarding an early Genesis trib gig) but was also seen singing along to Land Of Confusion at a latter-period show.
4.
£84.99 now. I snoozed, I lost!
Wow, £85 for mp3s. Do people really spend that much on downloads?

Sonuus sale

http://shop.sonuus.com/specials.php ... including the Wahoo pedal at £170, down from £250.
6.
Can anyone suggest an album that would be a good place to start for someone new to PT??
I love Up The Downstair and The Sky Moves Sideways, and the live album that followed, Coma Divine. Colin Edwin sounds fantastic on Coma Divine. After that it went downhill and I lost interest. Having said that, I love Steven Wilson's recent solo output and might dip my toe into latter PT.
7. I considered it, but wasn't terribly enthused by the album tbh - any idea who's in the band?
8.
How do they get by without the saxes?
Pretty well, but I'm not the best person to ask. I have only ever seen them live, and hardly listened to anything studio recordings. I first saw them with David Jackson in 2005, but didn't really get it. I've seen them three times at the Barbican since, and it's varied from really good (the other night) to brilliant (probably the second of the three shows I've seen there).
9. Saw them at the Barbican last night, stirring stuff indeed. Among my favourite rhythm sections can be found Guy Evans and Hugh Banton's feet.
10.
blimey its a tough crowd on BC, i just thought the record was good
It's a great album, I still have my vinyl copy from 198-mumblemumble, and it's part of small but selct group that accompany me when I go to demo new turntables. (Probably happened three times since then, tbh)
11.
Funny you have posted this track - I have been trying to play this bassline and getting it wrong for nearly thirty years now . It's harder than it first appears . Great line from as very capable player . I once heard Trevor Horn say that Mark O'Toole was a clever player , and this track really shows that .
The main groove is transcribed here: http://basslessons.be/transcriptions.php?i=31 - looks good to me. And yes it's harder than it sounds!
12.
Dunno if it's still going (been a heck of a long time!) but there used to be a venue on the cromwell road. Was called the Orange, but later changed to West One Four. Probably a sainsbury's or something now
I think it's been some else as well since West One Four. Turtle Something or Something Carrot springs to mind. It's now called Black Velvet, see http://www.blackvelvetlondon.co.uk/. It's on North End Road which connects Cromwell Road to Hammersmith Road. I played there in 199-something when it was still the Orange. A good venue but the load in is up a flight of stairs that turns a corner mid-way up, ouch.
13. Tickets on sale now for selected venues: http://yesworld.com/ (plus the whole list of venues for the UK tour)
14. New singer Jon Davison is previously (still?) from Glass Hammer, and was once in Yes tribute Roundabout. Here's the first youtube I found: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4NU0ed5bDY Better than Benoit, but it's not Jon is it. And with no Rick either, it's increasingly not-Yes. It all got a bit silly with the revolving door of band members, so I suspect I might have seen my last Yesshow. Unless they bring back Patrick Moraz!
15. Funnily enough most of the screen time goes to the two girls. Didn't they realise that in 40 years time bass geeks would be on the lookout? http://www.youtube....h?v=0XPiUGtdIzk And can some kind soul enlighten me as to how to embed youtube clips?
16.
Rutger second only to macca for amount of songs sold with their bass playing onboard?
There were some great shots of him on stage with his gorgeous Ikea-finish Jazz bass (probably Eurovision)
17. Did you see Frida's look backstage when they were discussing Agnetha's sexy bum? Face like a slapped...
18. Sounds great and (apart from the hole) looks great, but I'd get it clagged up with so much finger cheese. Probably find a nest of starlings in there one day.

20. Apparently it was this lady, who was part of the string section on at the time: https://twitter.com/filmmusicholt Her other band, the Raven Quartet, were quick to defend their bandmate in a show of sisterly solidarity from https://twitter.com/ravenquartet: Just to clarify…. The other 3 of us were working elsewhere today and found out when you did. 21hr We were as surprised as all of you. about 32 minutes ago 22 hr
21. Repeated Saturday at 1am, for those reading this thread at 10.30. (me)
22. Easy, think of the band name before you start recruiting members.
23. Glad to hear it was a blast - Didn't see them this time, several reasons: I was second row at the O2 for the Time Machine show, which would have been hard to beat; I missed the fan club presale time by about 30sec, which meant all the decent seats had gone. I'm not a huge Power Windows fan (nor Clockwork Angels fan come to think of it), but it would have been good to see Manhattan Project - otherwise there's not much standing out in the setlist for me that I've not seen before (http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/rush/2013/o2-arena-london-england-13d9b595.html - with obv spoiler warning). I'll be more on the ball tickets-wise when it comes to the R40 tour next time around.
