1. You should sell the lot Jose, get a Stingray 5, series/parallel/single coil switching, maple board, job done
 2.
Its only a matter of time before "TC" is mentioned.
Tim Commerford?
 3.
I wonder what language that is? I tried Italian in Google translate and that drew a blank....
I found a reference to Swahili but Google doesn't like that either.
 4.
How on earth did this information get out? Was it some kind of leak?
Well it wasn't from the horses mouth.
 5. +1 for trying a used Stagg out instead Without trying each bass it's hard to say if it's playable or not, you can't compare them to electric basses regarding setup or alterations.
 6.
Hi Pete yes indeed i know £600 isn't much to some folk but it was the most expensive Bass i have ever bought but you learn by your mistakes and the couple who bought it from me....came down to see the Bass first and got it for £225 so i lost almost £400 cheers
It seams you need to spend just a little bit more (the far east Gedos might be ok for similar money to the G4M but I don't think anyone here has bought one to know?) or wait for a good used one to come up, usually just after you buy a new budget one like the stetnor in the fs section now!
 7. We do our best in the double bass section to warn against them, basically they are only good as ornamental objects! Some people have spent another £600 getting them playable, £1200 will buy a decent Gedo or European built Thomann bass including branded strings. It's a shame it's put you off the upright challenge.
 8.
I would go to a pub to watch bands that aren't doing rock. I don't like classic rock particularly so would love to have some other options. I don't play pubs very often as I play in a function band which I joined because I a) want regular gigs and want to play a wide variety of styles including old and new. I think the downturn in pub gigs is due to all combinations of the following (and probably more): Smoking ban Rising cost of drinks Bigger variety of drinks available on supermarkets X factor type TV Lazy unimaginative landlords Lazy unimaginative bands Food sales being bigger earners Young people having different interests Loud bands Bands wanting to take more money than they make for the venue. Etc Etc Etc
All of this +1
 9. Why would it be a scam?, even Nigerian princes living in the States have birthday partys requiring a band!
 10. I think the problem is that some people are using a shim to enable bridge changes and various bodge jobs possibly a whole slice of wood wedged in, whereas EBMM I think are fitting them to enable even better factory setup to allow for tolerances that can't be machined out, the ones that aren't fitting them on mass produced basses are just setting them up as good as wood allows rather than some special cnc process that alters to account for each neck.
 11.
Or one could also be entitled to express an opinion..... Peter
The only options to appease you are either we let the death of admired fellow musicians go unspoken of or the people in question refrain from dying.
 12.
Carl who?
Exactly, although he was King of the jungle so millions of non motorcycling fans would know him from that I suppose. I could name dozens of footballers, by that I mean more than one dozen if I really tried, I honestly wouldn't have a clue if I was in a restaurant with all of the top premier league players at the same time!
 13. You could always cut a bit off the headstock, it's not like It's a real Fender Jazz Fwiw my Fender Jazz V (4+1) fits just nice in the Hiscox EBS
 14.
Very true - a few years ago I was at an industry dinner and every table had two Bath rugby players as guests. My then boss was a big football fan, but his son had started playing rugby, so he wanted some autographs. He asked me who the famous ones were, and when I pointed out he was sitting next to Ieuan Evans he didn't have a clue who he was!
No I haven't got a clue who he is either! Ha
 15.
Although not a recommendation, it is possible to get 2 TC112 speakers, microphone stand, gig bag, amp and a bass in a Peugeot 206cc. Yes, it was a surprise to me too!
Did you take the hair dressing kit out first?
 16. In all honesty if Steve Vai and a reborn Jaco held a jam night in our village pub it still wouldn't be full in there. The famous bit is only in the eyes of the people watching, I sat next to Carl Foggarty having my lunch at the NEC classic car show a couple of years ago, no one bothered him, if he'd tried to sit in there a week earlier at the Motorbike show he'd have mobbed!
 17.
I'm not sure what we would need at the bar band level that's expensive. We own our own lights and PA. I'd still pay up. Nothing comes directly out of my cut. Blue
The PA must have come from somewhere and will eventually need replacing though.
 18. How many other basses have a shim too though, they are regarded as solid work horses even with the shim so it doesn't bother me, it must be there for a reason as it's not for saddle height issues?
 19.
Personally, for the bar band level I don't believe in Kitty's. If the band wants to buy something and I've been with them for over 5 years just ask and I'll contribute my share. But your not going to take it out of my pay. Blue
What happens if you need something really expensive?
 20.
Thanks for the input guys. The bridge? Never thought about that. Just checked the bridge on my Eminence--hollow body--and the bridge has a good curve. So being a hollow body and a curved bridge things looking good for arco.
I'd say you've got a better than a solid body one other than the Yamaha SLB then, good luck
