1. THREAD REVIVAL I have received this today as I suspect everyone else that signed it did. The Government has responded to the petition you signed – “Support Live Music Venues by preventing inappropriate complaints being actioned”. Government responded:
Music venues are a vibrant and vital part of the music ecosystem and economy and government will continue to support and promote an environment in which UK’s live music industry can carry on thriving

Between 2010-2015 government introduced a package of deregulation, including the Live Music Act 2012, removing the need for entertainment licences in certain circumstances and increasing the audience limit for performances of live amplified music in relevant alcohol licensed premises from 200 to 500 people Additional licensing conditions should only be imposed on a business where appropriate - statutory guidance is clear that licensing authorities should avoid disproportionate measures that could deter valuable community events, such as live music. We have also made changes to national planning guidance and permitted development rights, helping to prevent noise complaints from new development on existing businesses. National planning policy for England as set out in the National Planning Policy Framework sets out that existing businesses wanting to develop in continuance of their business should not have unreasonable restrictions put on them because of changes in nearby land uses since they were established. The planning guidance supporting the Framework is clear that the potential effect of a new residential development being located close to an existing business giving rise to noise should be carefully considered. The guidance underlines planning’s contribution to avoiding future complaints and risks to local business from resulting enforcement action. To help avoid such situations, local councils are encouraged to consider appropriate mitigation including designing the new development to reduce the impact of noise from the local environment and optimising the sound insulation provided by the building envelope. On 6 April, the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) (Amendment) Order 2016 made permanent the permitted development right for the change of use from office to residential. The permanent right includes a prior approval on noise, allowing consideration by local planning authorities of plans to mitigate the impacts of noise from commercial premises on the residents. In considering the prior approval, the local planning authorities will have regard to the relevant parts of the National Planning Policy Framework and supporting planning guidance, as would be the case under a planning application. We want to encourage people to live in our towns and cities, while enabling small grassroots music venues to flourish - giving musicians and artists the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience and providing communities with a social and cultural attraction. We will continue to engage with the industry and local authorities to support this important and dynamic sector. Department for Culture, Media and Sport
Click this link to view the response online: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/168135?reveal_response=yes The Petitions Committee will take a look at this petition and its response. They can press the government for action and gather evidence. If this petition reaches 100,000 signatures, the Committee will consider it for a debate. The Committee is made up of 11 MPs, from political parties in government and in opposition. It is entirely independent of the Government. 2. I heard Geoff Chalmers playing arco on a Yamaha silent bass at the double bass bash, sounded fantastic! I suspect the operator was helping in that department though My Stagg with Spiros doesn't like it at all.
3. I am nearly 40 and have played it many times, even when I was in my 20s
4. You can't lose there, excellent.
5.
Still trying to work that one out ...
Tricky isn't it, why do we feel the need for people that come after us to have the same experiences as us? I hope that future generations have fun and have a happy healthy life, if it's found by downloading it into their brains with an app so be it, maybe future generations will be able to experience the Beatles as only those that 'were there' did?
6. Do all musicians need to like every type of music to not be classed as stupid?
7. EBMM must put them in for a reason, it's not for fixing the issue the OP has as the saddles can go beyond the fingerboard.
8. Does it really matter though, I don't do many things people 50 years older than me did and people fifty years younger than me probably won't do the things I enjoy either.
9. Imelda May without Al Gare?
10. Tbh I'd only use them with a desk with multiple monitor mixes, that said I can't see why you can't just split the signal, send the correct mix to the monitor wedges then let her adjust her own volume to suit? What desk, monitors and in ears are you using? is the first set of questions we need answers to.
11. I demand everyone takes their necks off to check
12.
But MusicMan basses are crap, right? They don't age well at all
Utter junk with twisted unstable necks
13.
Ha, my spell checker clearly doesn't like the word "probs" as it changed it before I realised.
Ha,maybe it's just got some artificial intelligence going on!
14. An inch?!
15. This is a factory EBMM shim, all mine have had one, a Fender microtilt holds the neck on with two screws and a third holds it over an adjustable spike, I'm not going to loose sleep over it.
16.
Wow! Really?
Yep it's plastic figure of eight piece thats goes in nearest the bridge, the fact they've got two more neck bolts than most basses means it aint exactly going to drop to bits.
17. Afaik all Ernie ball basses come with a factory shim.
18. You couldn't go wrong with that, I'd just keep the receipt safe in case the 'original owner' comes looking for it.
19. Crikey that is cheap, makes you wonder where they got it from?!
20. No probes, not even with the girl band? Damn.
21.
I would, my first two cars were Morris Travellers.

My first car was a Morris Traveller. The Marshall 412 and 100 watt amp were a perfect fit in the back.
There you go, maybe I should get back on face book.
22. I used to be on there, people enjoyed pictures of morris minor engine parts, they didn't 'like' them but I'm sure they must have loved it, who doesn't enjoy a cylinder head?
23. When I was young, less than 10 years old perhaps, I thought only black guys could be the best bassists because all the best bands had a cool black guy on bass, I now realise they were the top session guys we all know and love. Most of my favourite bass players are black guys still, am I discriminating against white bassists or giving positive discrimination towards black bassists? In fact I really like Esperanza Spalding so maybe I'm anti white men bassists, lol.
24. I find them like used cars, you find something that looks ok, in this case for £350, then you think well a couple of quid more gets you a Gedo, then another £250 will take you into carved front basses made in europe from Gedo or Thomann, but then for a £1000 you could a really nice used bass, but then if it's not a good example that's a lot to lose, maybe a decent one from a dealer including a setup to your liking which is going to start around £1750......... You get the picture
25.
No cat ? No children ? There's no need for you to be on Facebook is there ? What would you post pictures of ?
My lunch?
