1.
I saw the drummer and bassist in The Climax Blues Band do this at the Standard in Walthamstow in the 90's. Looked good at the time
He's a member here
 2.
Dont know why musicians moan about the content of the Hoot, after all it has to appeal to a huge range of tastes. Sadly we rarely have gigs at New year so we tend to watch it every year. Can think of much worse as a build up to 12 o clock.
I just think it's due a re fresh, new host(s) and less boogie woogie.
 3. I think most of us in that situation unless it was a very quiet practice or jam at home would still use some form of amp, just a little 1x10 or something like a MarkBass combo, if the voice is not in a PA then it is possible though.
 4.
Jeff Ament - Pearl Jam The intro to evenflow has a dirty great harmonic slide at the start. I'm sure it's a Wal he uses/used. Ah...missed that someone had already said that...
I found the unplugged version of Jeremy, that 8 string bass sounds amazing, fantastic stuff!
 5. He can't help himself can he, that version needs no piano, lol.
 6. I thought piling up barefaced cabs of different speaker sizes with different cloths and badges upside down with the amp head being the largest box perched on top was advised by most users looking at the BF threads?
 7. I doubt any of the hollow bodied eub type basses would be loud enough to jam with acoustic guitars, even with a normal upright I'd use a small amp just to save digging in so much.
 8. It looks a simple bass to put into production, they'll probably release it in ten years after he's stopped using it like the current one! If anything a Flea signature based on his current one would be more of an actual Flea signature as the current one is just a copy of a regular jazz that presumably belonged to someone else before him?
 9.
Gold plated oxygen free kettle leads with 3A fuses.
I did notice that the Energizer battery in the Stingray that I used for the whole gig lacked a little heft, I shall go back to Duracell for the live stuff from now on and keep the Energizers for the studio in future, rookie error.
 10.
It's as rock and roll as having a digital mixer. I used to gaffa tape all mine down as well by the way, just to be sure. My stage setups were nothing if not neat.
It keeps the idiots that can't help but get on the stage area from tripping over the wires, by that I mean me,
 11.
Did you play a calm opening number to break the crowd in gently or go straight for the jugular with an uptempo number? Both ways are wrong.
Ha that made me chuckle, you can't win on Basschat can you. FWIW it was Brass In Pocket by The Pretenders.
 12.
Is Nick Beggs still playing bass with them?
No it is Andy Carr, I didn't realise until looking at the Wiki that Martin Fry is the only actual member of ABC now, super tight band and his vocals are still great.
 13. Or do you want it live, twice as fast and with Matt Cameron from Sound Garden on drums? Sheesh Kebab!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F59PX-K8PwE
 14. Jeff Ament from Pearl Jam is your guy surely? Unplugged version, remember when this was new the Seattle grundge rock scene was hailed as a fairly talent-less load of noise. A bit funkier? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SK4pQaoqMQ
 15.
Left most of my gear at the venue and picked it up this morning.....very naughty.
It was a bit of jaunt so I didn't want to back, I'd rather get home later but only need to put the house straight the next day. Our ex drummer always left his kit on friday nights at an open mic we did last friday of the month at a hotel, he turned up just as the full englishes were being served up every saturday, no as stupid as he looked maybe.
 16.
Did you have all your cables carefully routed so you didn't keep tripping over them?
Yes, is that not very rock and roll?
 17. Yes the dj ended up by the bar The dance floor is actually the other side of the pillar out of shot, we've played there twice now and tried putting the singer on the left and the right of the pillar, neither are ideal!
 18.
ha ha.! excellent Pete.
For anyone that missed the original post and or can't read music that's going to confuse the hell out of them! I do agree with the revised version though, you need to listen to what's going on and react to it, sometimes that can mean taking the lead too.
 19.
Aside from owning a bass !
And a PA.
 20.
.
Staccato?
 21.
You can add White cable tape to that list ;o)
Added in the edit
 22.
You mean you played covers ? !!! Surely the audience would have preferred 20 original orinigals , could you not provide that ?
Well we asked them if they wanted to hear our Lesbian Grime Rock set but they said they'd prefer the regular stuff, maybe next year.
 23. If your hair stands on end when you touch it then it's a fail, I haven't got any hair so all our kits passes every time.
