1. If you can fit a baton first fixed into the breeze blocks with decent screws and rawl plugs and a squiggle of no nails on the rear of the baton in will be super strong! Failing that just make sure you fix into the blocks and get a hanger with a wide base or make a spreader plate from nice wood to stop it pulling the hanger into the hollow area behind the plaster board. Putting the hanger where a 'dab' is would be best.
2. I'd be interested if they made a signature version of the one he's actually using now, with a B string too.
3. I think by house band it's because they will only have a few gigs on still, bank holidays, I doubt it will ever be a weekly thing in the sense we might think of as the house band. Two or three over a year period would suit us.
4. It's because they haven't learnt to play yet!
5. Message received this morning. Dear guys.😏Having assessed the playing area I've very reluctantly decided that we cannot fit into the Bowling Green Saturday. However!!-The pub is having a big renovation in February & there will be a designated band area. The manager wants us as the houseband for all next year. We've been promised the first gig for Easter and probably most bank holidays after then.😊
6.
Bear it, but for the full agreed fee. If the LL really can't see why he should pay you in full, ask him if he'd also be happy to reduce the price of drinks to your followers by a quarter
That's not a bad idea, the playing is the easy bit of what we are being paid for anyway, still takes as long to set up and pack away!
7.
Wanna borrow my subs? Looks like you'll need them.
Maybe to stand on!
8.
I thought it looked familiar! There isn't much room in there at all. I can see why you are a bit concerned. Why can't you have the function room?
That could happen yet if we know we have enough of our own coming but the idea is to keep the diners in rather than them walk into town. It's technically quite a big venue isn't it, daft to try and fit in that bit. We were on the right as you go in last time, set up in a row ratger than drums behind which was ok and the drummer shares some lead vocal songs anyway.
9.
Play the gig. Look at it as a challenge: How to sound good with reduced kit and finite space. Could be a very good learning curve and better than you think. Negotiate the original ££s or Blue will never let you live it down
I've agreed to go with the flow, if it happens I'll give it my best
10. Very rarely T-bay, it's the Bowling Green Lichfield down the road from you. There's a big empty function room too! Last time we were in a long narrow area.
11.
Beautiful and moving. Any excuse to post this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5nYX-iuUFk
Just chop the s off the https
12. The LL probably doesn't realise how many people we have planned to bring in, if it wasn't so near to xmas so that most venues are already booked we'd just change the venue and take our followers and their beer money elsewhere!
13. Yes the guitarist has already said he will insist on the original price regardless. Ta
14. Thanks! It's one of the MiK pro Series basses that Thomann were selling off at under half price a few years ago. I took a bit of a gamble since the MiG I'd tried previously had all been completely underwhelming considering their price tag. However, to my knowledge the Starbass is the only long-scale 5-string semi hollow bass in production, so my options were pretty limited. Luckily it has turned out to be a great instrument, although if I'm being completely honest the Gus basses are far more comfortable to play. Cool, yes I can't think of another with a long scale and a B string, I think it is a given that it will not be as comfy as many basses but that is the compromise, same as the double bass, awkward thing that makes your hands and arms ache but well it is cool! A definite big thumbs up from me on that one.
15. Just the gap between the pillars for the drums and where these ladies are sat, even the footrest will be in the way. I don't think the double bass will be going to this gig, so that's the setlist messed up too.
16. 4 piece band in there?!
17. We have a gig booked for Saturday, it's not much a gig place but it's christmas and it's £400 between 4 of us. Guitarist has been for a look, we played there a while ago in another area which was tight but the LL has managed to get a big food group for that area, works doo I imagine, so he wants us here, next to the bar, quiet as possible, finish at 11 instead of 12 for £300, we're thinking sack it off? None of us need it, we approached them to fill another that we cancelled (in a 10 foot teepee at the top of a grass slope!), we have a lot of people coming but frankly I'd probably them not see us with a reduced drum kit, active monitors as the PA I think is all we could fit in, we don't even think the singer will be able to have a mic stand! No way we will get all the backing vocal mics up. Looks a bit crap all round to me?
18. Have you had a look inside? I wonder if the jack socket contact needs a little bending back into place or maybe a good squirt of servisol spraying through the pots and jack socket?
19. That Warwick is super dooper BRX, awesome. I've never seen one before.
