1. Don't be put off Fender all together, they can make nice ones, I am sure if JTUK really tried he could just about struggle through a gig on mine
2. Them Nathan East BBNE2 Yamahas are the best quality basses I have ever seen in the flesh, that includes the Foderas.
3. The first rule with ANYTHING you buy like this is to throw all the supplied fixings in the bin.
4.
Replaced the pickguard om my StingRay 5 with something a bit more modest that only covers the control cavity, it's a crime to hide such a nice piece of wood underneath a big white plastic sheet! Detail. Colored the unused screw-holes with a orange sharpie.
The shape of that plate works really well, looks like factory option, well done. Always nice to see a white pickup cover Ray too.
5.
Well, here's my new baby! 2010 Ernie Ball 2band Stingray. Bought off of this forums very own SiFi! I'm upgrading the pre amp in it to an East 3 band 3 knob and eventually I want to get a Hipshot de tuner for it. A friend gave me the chrome plated brass pick guard for it which I absolutely love and I've done the series/parallel switch mod to the pick up. Scary process but I love it. Easily my favourite bass at the moment. Strung with 125-60 Rotosound Swing Bass and tuned B E A D as I prefer having a low B over a high G. Hopefully you all like her, especially StingrayPete1977 and McNash who were very helpful with some questions I had regarding Stingrays.
Only just seen this, haven't been in this thread for ages! Nice one mate
6.
Look what I bought...
I need to start smoking again!
7. Phew that's the credit card safe for now then! Ta. I love a sparkle finish and a matching headstock.
8. Well I didn't want to just suggest what I use mainly but well Damon is correct What were you saying about Benchmark 5 stringers in your OP Al Krow?
9. Looks fine, if it plays good keep it, knowing Fender the next one could be worse
10. Unique feature if it ever gets stolen and pops up on gumtree (other dodgy sites are available, if you are banned from them all see Cash converters)
11. I half agree with this, I've never found a Mex 5 that felt good and the pre 2008 (?) US Jazz V feels really odd as you say, like a four string with a B string tagged on, but the post 2012 with the 4+1 headstock version feels great, very good B on mine, great finish too. I have fitted a preamp as I don't get on with passive basses but that was just a personal thing.
12.
NOT Pro series but wonder if these will make their way over here. I like the cosmetics EDIT. They are here. £690. Tempting!
Yeah, thats funky! Do they make that with a B string do you know?
13. Yep stupid, looks like the old Méx version now on the 3tsb.
14. PMT have a US Jazz V for under £1200 which is good if it's as nice as mine, I'm sure mine was about £1500? I can't see what the pro version has to make it worth another £200 than I paid never mind £500 more than the US Standard they have in stock! Still got the dual graphite neck rods, light weight tuners, polyurethane rather than polyester finish etc. Good old Fender
15. I'm not on facebook and haven't visited the bass lounge, I don't know anything about them.
16.
As I may have mentioned before, I was sat in a rather boring meeting in the Midlands, and I happened to comment to the guy opposite me, at lunch, 'long fingernails, you must be a guitarist', to which he replied, 'bassist actually', within minutes the magic phrase 'ever heard of basschat' came up, it transpired we had even chatted in same threads! small world say I!
Was it one of the JTUKs?
17. I think the classic with the John east three band that fits on the standard plate would be the best of everything, I might see if John will part exchange mine (it is working, loose connection fixed last night), then again when the 2eq works it sounds awesome!
18. I think it will sound just fine with a preamp, nowt wrong with those cabs. Plenty of good sounding bands out there where those pa tops will be what the audience hears.
19. My blue one is no different to many SR4s weight wise, the classic maybe a tad heavier but not bad, the black one is HEAVY! I think that's why it lost it's fretless neck as the lady that ordered it managed to find I lighter one and swap them over, if a Pao Ferro comes up with a black headstock but not on a black bass it will probably be the other bits of mine
20. You could make 11'000 in a row yet!
