1. Found this picture of my originals band circa 2003, I have some hair and no glasses and my stingray was missing a B string back then (I wonder who has that Ray now?) anyway I'll bet someone can recognise the venue???
 2. Funnily enough that was a year ago at the same venue where the "they're playing your guitars in there" thread took place, we got booked on our own this time
 3. Here's me and two of my band members with the Robster after we supported him last christmas* *may not be the real Robbie, terms and conditions apply, your house may be at risk etc.
 4.
I've only played a handful of Americans but never seen any of those, would be very disappointed if I found that. Having said that, other than the poor fretwork, none of those would make it worse than a Mexican. I'd rather have a bit of space around the CS pickup (that you can't see under the pickguard anyway) than a snugly fitting standard ceramic pickup for example
Ironically the OP of this thread had one with a sloppy neck I believe?
 5.
I would like to see CrackerJackLee at a gig. His posts have cheered me right up recently.
Yeah I like him! Gotta be someone already here as a windup do you think?
 6.
The "bad US" is still going to have custom shop pickups compared to the mexi's bottom of the line ceramic ones. It's still going to have higher quality tremolo and tuners (and I think maybe nut) and rolled edges on the fretboard. What would it be about the US model that made it bad?
Massive neck pocket, pickup routes too big for the pickups, pickups not screwed in the right place within the route, loose pots, poor paint finish, bad fretwork, all things I've seen on US fenders and I say this as a Fender fan, owner and regular user of their products!
 7. I'm confused now, who is the real JTUK? is JTUK even JTUK or is the real JTUK someone else? Am I JTUK now or does the title as ebs suggest go to he who hath thy gigging strides?
 8.
Can I ask a really dumb question? Are the USA models SO much better than the Mexican ones? I just got a mex and the tone is wonderful............
The thing with Fenders is a good mex is better than a bad US, heck even a good squier is better than a bad US, a good US is a nice thing to own IME though.
 9. We've had audience members do songs with us, I'd lend someone my bass to be honest, it's all about how it's done, waiting for the band to go outside for some fresh air and helping yourselves isn't it!
 10.
You can easily tell when there are Basschatters at our gigs. We get drowned out by the sound of tutting when we start Mustang Sally.
They wouldn't get that far at our gigs, music stand, 5 string bass and more than one bass and guitar each on stage, I'm surprised anyone stays past the sound check!
 11. Ah yes young farmers, again the girls are often the worst!
 12.
Bugger....I'm gigging on the 17th. Please keep me posted if you're playing anywhere not too far from me
I will do, we were at the horse and jockey a couple of weeks ago too, mostly private functions the rest of the time, like the one in this thread!
 13.
Lichfield, Staffs? Just up the road from me if it is. When and where?
Strangely, the bowling green,17th of dec, they don't have bands as a rule but the idea is to keep the Christmas party types there after the food has finished, yet another no sound check gig!
 14. As someone that plays a single pickup bass most of the time but mainly playing covers from various genres it's a must for me, slap, pick, fingers, near the neck fingers country style, near the bridge etc, my right hand technique is too ham fisted but at least I'm versatile, my left hand unfortunately is crap though!
 15.
Confirmed. I recognised none of the people in your photo.
That's the sort of scientific proof I like.
 16.
I will confess to occasionally trying out someone else's bass after a gig - but only if they handed it to me unasked!
I like a gear stalker, I'm always happy to oblige a polite one
 17. I'm really no good at singing and I can't do lead vocal and play easily either even though I can multi task in general, I find it really frustrating when you work with someone that pauses doing their work to chat, come on lets work AND chat!
 18.
I once saw a guitarist packing up after a gig in a very crowded blues festival fringe venue come back from loading out the first armfuls to see two drunken girls having a go at the rest of the kit - and it took him a scarily long time to push his way back through the crowd to stop them. I suggested he and his mates should invest a few pennies in hi-viz vests - at least they would have got through a lot faster!
I must say it's mainly been trouble from you girls joining in unannounced Josie
 19.
As a classical musician I've never liked typical audiences for classical music, but reading this I may have to reconsider. At least they were never drunk, and they wouldn't wreck the instruments or the stage.
I doubt many of the folks at the gig on friday had ever been to a classical performance, I wonder if they'd still shout for Sex on Fire between each song?
 20.
I think the only people who say that theory will make them a worse player, is people who have never studied any, and claim it will stifle their creativity.
Yes I have heard it said that "it would" but never that "it has", funny that eh?
 21.
Fair enough. My point was that it's not enough to just play scales up and down the neck. If you do, your lines will sound like...well...scales.
Brian May guitar solos!
 22. Trust the drummer to forget his hat! I like those sort of gigs, they tend to be the ones where the audience appreciate live bands too.
 23. I like the finish as is, an old pickguard would look good as you say.
