1.
I really like it I'm a sucker for a little chrome. Great shout, thanks - I'll email him today. The prices on the site look more in my range.
I like the chrome but I don't like the way a jazz plate ends against nothing when you have no pick guard if you know what I mean?
2.
Just the SR5 for gigs. Nothing comes close. Edit: nothing I have or have played.
No need for the edit
3.
How about using a wireless system? Anyone use one on DB?
Erm..."without a wireless pack" Marc
4. I really like the stereo lead solution, I'm just thinking that the OP could put the clicky wire inside the bass by drilling a tiny hole behind the finger board and back out maybe near the tail to meet the bridge pickup or even wire them both back to a stereo Jack socket on the body somewhere?
5. I think it depends how expensive your bass is, drillable or not?
6. I'd want it rear routing, I'm not a fan of the 'floating' jazz control plate?
7. Part of the fun of playing live is trying to put the drummer off with off beat notes, reggae fills and general knobing around, when that goes well that's when the audience enjoy watching it!
8. I think it depends on who's more dominant between the bassist and drummer in the band, I've played in bands where I'd dig in and dominate where the count is and I've played with drummers that rarely drop a beat that would either sort themselves out without thinking about it or if it's gone to crap they've took the dominant roll and squared it back up. As long as you have someone in the band that takes control then it's fine. Just like jam nights, you need at least one person in each group that knows the song if the rest are jamming.
9. No I'm saying to bring your existing kit up to match the RCF ones you would need to add subs.
10. Glare at the drummer so everyone else knows it was their fault
11. Looking at the specs the Aguilar ag500 has 40hz shelving anyway.
12.
£2,250 for that bass, what a rip-off! That's a lot of money considering you can buy a new one @ Esse Music for €1900 (£1690): http://www.essemusic.it/EN/Electric-Basses/Music-Man/Stingray-Classic-4-white-perloid-Rw/
That's cheap for a classic of any type tbf, a natural 4 string is £2100 at GAK.
13. I wanted the white when I bought mine (jazz v) but they were sold out everywhere! I really like mine but I have stuck a bartolini preamp in it
14. Most of the big band bands I've seen lately are using in ears and unmic's cabs, or no cabs at all, I like the idea of no amp at all!
15. This could be the new Basschat craze then!? Who's going first?
16. I played a U2 number for the first dance a couple of weeks ago, the first time I'd heard it was as we were playing it, I think I played both notes in the right places throughout
17.
Yes i fully agree. Its just that in last 2 years i have bought 5 bass amps and 1 active speaker second hand and 4 of them have failed within a few weeks of having them.
Fingers crossed you've got past that run of luck now then!
18. Ha,there's definitely a bit of Les Claypool in there isn't there? I like primus, for about ten minutes.
19. I'm reading it that the pianist is the friend and the entertainer?
20.
I'm very senstive to the feel of the bass... not sure that is a good thing or bad thing, but it is the way it is, for me. So..I can't do what I do on any old bass with a variable set-up. Sure, I could cover a 'gig' but I'd hate it being stymied so much .... It wouldn't be worth doing for me...
Get an upright bass for a few months, even an encore P bass will feel awesome!
21. Reminds me of the bits I skip on the Primus Albums, each to their own though.
