1. Flea has done some awesome non slapped songs, Soul to squeeze is always a killer. http://youtu.be/0XcN12uVHeQ The perfect rhcp track imo and not on any album!
2. How can they make two pieces of wood, four tuners, a bridge, nut, pickup and scratchplate so complicated?
3. He was hardly going to say "I've sold musicman and been secretly working on these with George and they are ok, the preamp can be fiddly for some people and it won't hold it's value like a Fender" was he?
4. I'd happily finish my gigging days on an L2500, no problemo.
5. I'd take an active bass and a class D amp over a passive bass and a heavy lump, that said I can't get on with a passive bass and a class D head, it misses something no doubt about it for me.
6. I don't find much influence from the J into the Stingray and then there's the Sabre bass before G&L and the L1500 with a single pickup before you get to the newer models.
7. A decent combo is always worthwhile keeping to hand if you have space to keep one, one with a DI out is preferable imo.
8.
So Status, ACG, Iceni, Warwick, Yamaha no good?
I prefer musicman, g and l, fender, Lakland. I've got a Yamaha, pics are in the "so who rides motorbikes?" thread
9. Those D and B cabs won't pay for themselves will they?
10. So would it be so bad if I was in your band and got paid £75 a gig extra if I provided a good quality PA?
11. The fact that it doesn't actually matter to most people including some musicians shows that nothing lasts forever, even if the fabs hadn't existed I'm sure we'd still have music, I'm not denying it would not be different but the same goes for lots of bands, it might have even been better!
12. BRX- How much do you pay the hire company for each gig though? and we've had problems getting a system at busy periods, last minute gigs are almost impossible to agree to. I suppose it comes down to what type of gigs you do and how often, when we were young trying to make it big we never had our own PA as we only played venues that had one.
13. Thanks The foam behind the strings below the bridge really makes it more thumpy,I'd say it's the best mod I did, even my stock strings weren't too bad compared to some people's findings.
14. We get asked for Sex On Fire more than anything by the Beatles at every gig we do.
15. Ps-the headway looks like a good idea to me too, will it take a mag pickup input do we know? I like the idea of a blended piezo and mag via something like the headway into a wireless pack all strapped to the tailpiece.
16. It was a bit of a shame drilling and screwing the fingerboard to fit the schaller but it is at least sturdy enough! Shame your not nearer to me as you could try my plat pro with your pickup.
17. They were like a four string with a B string weren't they?, weird body shape, horrible colours, just rubbish! They put me off the idea for years but the new ones can be crackin'
18. All fenders need buying on how good they are rather than which model and where it was made. The old us jazz V with five tuners in a row was awful, one of the worst bases I've ever played do I never thought I'd own a jazz five, the later ones are a totally different animal think God and I love mine even though I've pulled the passive controls out for a bartolini circuit
19. The mex stuff was ok around the £500 Mark tops imo, I had a mex strat that was nice for less than £400, now they are nearly in USA price territory.
20.
Get 'em quick before Trump builds his wall...
Where the like button when you need it? Damn Mooslims..
