1. I have done the opposite, spent loads on everything and I still sound crap!
2. Anyone using a P bass, love the sound of them as long as I'm not the one creating it!
3. Personally I'd go for either a Gedo or a Thomann one, there are good G4M ones but they are rarer from what I've seen and tend to need work where the others are normally at least playable if not better out of the box. A good used is the best bet but they don't come up that often ime.
4. Do you get extra points if it was a free gig? I've played the Stafford Festival in the castle grounds, couple of thousand I'd guess, depends on the weather! All for nowt If we can work on people per square foot The Swan beer garden in the summer is ridiculous, I went to the loo in the break and couldn't get back to the stage
5. I've played to thousands of people, only about 15-50 at a time though!
6. I can barely remember anything as a four year old, possibly Shakin' Stevens being my first musical memory.
7. People are funny with gigs, if you can sell them a ticket a few weeks before for £2 they'll travel half way around the world instead of losing that £2!
8.
I'm the same age as your dad....and Blue. While I loved the Beatles at the time, it was only when I got into my twenties that I realised how seminal they were. In my teens, I was more of a Stones and Beefheart fan.
I love Carole king, Tapestry was already an old album by the time I was born but quality lasts forever I suppose.
9. Good luck Milty, good to hear you are back on track.
10.
Let me take a wild guess...the 60's ?
My dad is the same age as blue,he considers himself too young for the Beatles. Turning 16 in 1970 just as the fun ended.
11.
Hi, Id love to attend and have a nosey? happy to bring my cheap as chips Thomann along, with some entry level combis and all set up for slapabilly if that might interest peeps? Havent been playing for long so can share experiences with any other noobs?? Pencil me in and I'll sort logistics?? FB: demhowlinbones
The more the merrier I say!
12. I love my modded usa Fender Jazz V, it was probably luck over judgement so I'll add a +1 to Bubinga5's xotic.
13. I find it's all in the neck dive, tip a P bass up and see how it sounds, if something is missing try slicing your fingers on your right hand until they bleed a bit! Man they look good though!
14. Oh man that's very sad, I liked colgraff on here
15. I still want a 55-94 or a super rare 55-76 , if we slag them off enough I might be able to aford one sooner!
16.
I would say I'm an East Coast NYC 70s Style Pop Bass Guitarist. Blue
You can't just choose, you have to take the quiz
17. I'm a flea too, well I've got a bass like the one it the give it away video, that's where our similarities end I'm afraid.
18.
well said pete
Seams simple enough doesn't it? Ha
19.
Leverage isn't a verb, it's a noun. Using it as a verb is abuse of the language. So, have you been musicianing lately?
Wrong again I'm afraid mate http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/leverage
20.
Did you remember to check your bass was plugged in? (joking, of course... but 'a friend' of mine once had issues with his gear that turned out to be fixed simply by plugging in )
I had a backline, 900 watts of it, not much fun without hearing the guitar or vocals though Guitarist was ampless and using a Godin synth guitar for some and a Variax for the rest, disaster.
21.
I'd like to attend. I can bring my mid-60s fully carved 3/4 Reghin.
Sounds good!
22. That's not verbing anything though, it is just a noun and a verb, musician is a noun only.
23.
A musician is someone who makes music. The rest is adjectives, one of these being 'a bad musician'. The tools are irrelevant, the skill set irrelevant, the methods irrelevant. The only defining characteristic is the presence of a person and the creation of music. I struggle with some elements of this, DJs being my main blindspot, but, in the end, I am not in charge so it's not my call. Human being who makes music, end of.
I agree I'm still waiting to hear what being 'verbed' means
