It was dusty with a few scuffs but the frets and pickups were as new, never been played.

I find this whole situation strange right from your first arsey post I've quoted and quoted from already,why do you feel so special that you needed to be privately consulted about this bash? It's been in the db section for ages as an open discussion regarding plans different to last time before dates were confirmed. Telling us what you would of brought with you is frankly, childish.

[/quote] I can see your point Chris but perhaps the tone of your opening gambit was a little harsh? There was plenty of unamplified playing last time and even as an electric bass player mainly I'm happy to have a no electric basses rule, as soon as the Status Mark king crew arrive my ear plugs go in! It would be nice to see a few more names on the list and a few more basses that I agree with, I'd like to see more people who want an introduction to upright to come along too.

It was NOTHING like a regular electric bass bash last time, I played every bass there if anyone can find the picture of the group shot you will see how many basses there were, more than anywhere I've visited so far that's for sure.

I fitted a frequency inverter a couple of years ago, it is a massive battery that charges at 50hz then discharges at 60hz, works just like the bath idea but as you say you cant run it forever.

[/quote] The general feeling in the UK is that we use fused plugs due to our love of the '30 amp ring main' where a 16 amp radial circuit is more common in mainland Europe, in reality a 16 amp MCB in the consumer unit would trip far sooner than a 13 amp fuse in a plugtop would blow. I've been on building sites where they have a cement mixer, radio, kettle, sandwich toaster and a nest of battery chargers all on at the same time all on a 25 metre ext reel!

Hi opticfibre, I think getting along to a bass bash would be a great idea, maybe once we hear it in action we will become more optimistic? My current lead is around 10 years old with no issues, I do look after them so that helps, for live use I'd be much more likely to go wireless at some stage.

Quite often terminals shake loose,pots get scratchy, connections get tarnished and even fairly basic amps might have a pre amp valve that's working it's way out of the holder. Most include a PAT test cert too proving the fixed power lead and fuse are correct.

Stingray -DI box -PA -FOH = win. I'll take any old combo, ragged house amp, foldback monitor wedge, I'm not bothered especially if I dont have to carry it

I agree with the others, it must be ply if it's got a join down the back and front surely anyway? The place that just did me a new sound post would be into hundreds to refit the post,supply and fit a bridge and even a cheap set of strings is what £80? £150 maximum for me, if you can get it playing for £350 and it turns out nice then it 'could' be a bargain, if you hit one single problem you'll do well to break even imo.
