1. It got from there to production with the normal electronics in only a few months.
2. My wife's mini Mayfair has the original tape deck, I've cleaned the heads but I've only got a Pulp album and a green day one, I went on eBay to buy some red hot chili peppers ones for her,Jeez they fetch a lot!
3. The Beatles- Chains was written by Carole king, in fact she has written so many songs maybe it would be easier to just define bands into two categories, ones that do or ones don't play songs written by Carole king!
4.
And when it all comes down to uit, prices quoted on stuff for sale are generally the sellers most optimistic take on what he hopes someone will pay. Anything being sold is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Sadly an awful lot of sellers think that just because THEY want a certain price, a seller HAS to pay it. (heh:)
Well in truth if the seller sticks to that price and the buyer really wants it then the buyer will have to pay for it.
5. I own a few of both, don't notice it during a gig tbh.
6. I agree that it was the fake speakons rather than wire size but even with proper quality ones the thin wires dont get a very good connection as the terminals are designed for much bigger cables ime.
7.
Often, in the old days, the composer would have written out the dots above the lyricist's words. No recording, unless we are going to call the dots a recording method which, of course, it was.
If you make some method of returning to something it's a record, the black circular thing came much later than the word didn't it?
8.
How about Wigan? Ever play there?
Nah It's too near Karlfer who doesn't like me
9.
So we have to add in a caveat - for a very small number of cases where the songwriter didn't make the original recording but then later went on to re-record it themselves. In which case the first one is an original, the second one is a cover of the first one as the material is no longer original, even if the artist originally wrote it. The artist still get the credit for originally writing it, but not for making the original recording. It doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things as there are thousands of recording artists who release original material that has be written by others. That's just a part of the process you give up when you write for someone who you think will do a better job than you will and make your song more popular than you could (at that point in time).
The person who wrote it must have made some kind of recording to be able to have it covered, even Tab would be sufficient as a 'record' of the song's existence?
10. I've never been in an originals band that hauled sound and lights and I've never been in a covers band that didn't. Non of said bands performed in Milwaukee.
11. My 1.5mm melted in the speakon connector supplied by bass direct at the first gig, 600w genz head into a 4 ohm load, finished the gig with a 20 metre cable from the PA spares box and ordered an OBBM one, never had a problem since, that was around 2009.
12. I'm in two covers bands, we certainly don't sound like the original records, lol Anyone who has got this far in life without watching any Postmodern Jukebox clips on YouTube you should head over there now!
13.
Which produces such oddities as David Bowie's cover of "All the Young Dudes" and Bruce Springsteen's cover of "Because the night". I don't think Prince did a cover of "Nothing compares 2U".
But there will be a version originally recorded by the writer somewhere we just haven't heard it, I doubt Bowie described the song over the phone to them?
14.
But surely it's technically only a cover if it wasn't written by you or for you..?
Generally the songs acts like that perform are songs written by song writers that can be purchased by anyone, their management will contact the writer AFTER It's been written to strike a deal as co written. Basically we are back to Carole king again.
15. "Derek, if it turns out Tim C has ditched the Barefaced already we are going to need to run this biscuit machine 24 hours a day, put the word out on the factory floor to see who's up for overtime".
16. Plenty of artists have tried to rip songs off but I don't think there would be any proper bands doing the rounds doing typical multiband nights trying to pass off say 45 mins of obscure covers. Obviously One Direction and their ilk are basically a covers band aren't they but as soon as it says written by X in the CD sleeve they aren't actually trying to say they wrote it, the old co written thing is done to try and give credit to pop stars, change a few words and claim they co wrote it.
17. It's nice to see him with a Ray, I wonder if the cabs are due to shipping, it doesn't look like the biggest gig ever so it might just be whatever they could get a close to what he wants, No logos to keep Alex happy?
18. Are there ANY bands doing a full set of covers taken from obscure albums passing them off as their own or at least not mentioning it in any way?
19.
That's not what you called him in that PM to me the other day EDIT: just for clarity... There was no such PM. This is very much a lighthearted comment.
No need for the clarity, I like some banter
20. The neck doesn't need to be longer, just the finger board really, it's not going to bend up the dusty end.
21. Old horse Murphy doesn't sell his basses does he? Lol Just on my way home from a gig playing on an ex Nick bass
22.
It's easy fixed if you type with your eyes open.
It's because of arsey posts like this we call you Bully Apple behind your back
