1.
Yes, but they only get really interesting when you see them for £700 SH. Same as American Deluxes, at around £1000 for 5'ers.
To you maybe but someone must have paid close on the rrp for them to become available at those prices new used mustn't they? When I look at my regular bills and car repair costs I dont worry about a few hundred quid these days, life's too short imo. The OP's bass is growing on me too
2.
I enjoyed it. Nice groove. It's just as well that music is not a competition. She has a nice voice on the instrument.
I enjoyed it to be honest, I could watch her play in a covers band all night and I bet she would do a great job but all I am hearing is a copy of Nate's line in a copycat fashion, which in itself is not easy I grant you.
3. I sea you have moved onto fish puns, and on a bass forum, terrible.
4. I have just watched the clip with better audio and she can play no doubt, it would take me a while in the practice room to nail it as good, fair play. I also have the goods to match
5.
good god why is it when you post a woman playing bass there must an agenda behind it. i posted it purely on her playing. I'm sure there are many better bassists out there.. i just happen to like her playing.

bang on.. why do i get the feeling there is a bit of underlying sexism on this forum.
But the whole thing gets flipped back at us, I dont think she is anything special regardless of her breastages, it is always the same when anyone wants to disagree when there is a female player. I hope most of you have known my posting style long enough to know that I do not blow my own trumpet (go on Discreet have fun with that ) but honestly I would hope to nail that tune to the same standard before it went in our set list, I am not jealous of her ability at all. That is not to say no one is allowed to enjoy it, but can I be allowed to not really rate it overly great without being taken to task over her gender? If it was an audio only clip my reaction would still be, Meh.
6. I can't hear her so I shall reserve my judgement then, visually it looks no better or worse than the standard I'd be expected to play it at in an average wedding band IMO.
7. She wont take Marta's crown imo, my own version would be just as good if not better but I doubt I'd get any interest? Can't really hear her anyway.
8. Lakland Skylines sell in that region so it can be done.
9. Don't worry about 34" fivers, I've played many that have a great B and plenty of naff 35" fives. Get one that you like the best, ignor the finish and style to keep the budget down rather than buying a great looking poor playing one, most of the basses suggested look, play and sound great anyway
10. "Morning campers, is there any warm water left?"
11.
Shell is winning with the number of camping related puns. The other two are level pegging
Zip it!
12.
You were both guilty of loitering within tent.
Trust you to pitch up with something like that......
13.
That doesn't sound daft at all - it's a great idea.
Well that's my one good idea I get per year used up then and its only March! Lol
14. And you know some basschatter will be at your gig one day and say "I love that MM, I could really hear the neck pickup!"
15.
Maybe your thumb is GASing for the wider range of sound and thumb-friendly twin pickup bass?
As daft as this sounds you could actually buy a genuine HS guard and modify a single coil pickup housing to fit in the gap as a fake S pickup thumbrest?
16. I really like the Ibanez SR505, looks plays and sounds like a much more expensive bass than it is IMO and IME.
17.
There may even be some free earplugs, IIRC.

18. A genuine Sterling or stingray pick guard is about £18 from strings and things, get a spare and fit/make a cheap thumb rest to the spare guard and keep the stock one safe. $40 for that Ebay gadget?!
19. I use all areas of the bass to anchor, edge of the fingerboard, edges of the pickguard, dangle my hand over in line with the area between the neck and pickup while my wrist is supported by the body, pickup cover or E string. Some people use a blob of blu tac, if you are anchoring so tightly that you need anything more than just an anti slip area you will be hampering yourself both physically and with your playing styles IMO? The stingray gets this one trick pony tag but that only happens if you only play fingers over the pickup, all basses would suffer the same tag, well the Jazz might have two tones but you get the drift
20. Fender should have just re badged the whole range and released the lot!
21. Awesome, now the fun begins! I felt like my action was far to high so I butchered my bridge a bit to get it lower, about 10mm on the E so not that low really but as my strength has improved I actually think I could manage it as it was now and get a bigger thump. A check over won't hurt though in general. Enjoy
22. Thats the correct look for the bassist, nailed it I'd say.
23. Sounds like people are holding onto their Genz heads then, what a daft situation that you can't just buy them new!
24.
Pete i have the 3 eq stingray HH, any advice on how to eq this bad boy. Iain my rig is much larger than there silly combos also but i also want to retain my hearing for a little longer :-). I really am so glad that others are struggling with this. You try these things at home and they sound so wrong, but i suppose its taking the time to make it right in the mix that counts, otherwise gigs will get boring with just me in my front room and a little squashed. Thanks again all Rob
I use quite a bit of bass boost but I've had the luxury of sonic space most of my gigging life, either just one other guitar or mostly guitarist leaving enough room for everyone. In your setting then I'd try setting your amp as flat as possible, then the 3 EQ all on the centre indents, it should cut through at that ime but maybe sound thin, I then try either extra bass on the head or extra bass on the bass but rarely BOTH, once its fat enough without mush thats as good as you will get without the guitarists altering their sounds imo, after that I just alter the treble on the basd to suit slap, fingers , thumb or pick playing. Good luck
