1.
I bought some Aguilar hum cancelling pickups and installed them in my 2013 4-string US Standard Fender Jazz . They were very good pickups but the custom shop Fender pickups are actually superb themselves and I underestimated them so I took the Aguilar's out again and stored them. That's the one potential drawback, depending on your personal opinion, with your 5-string US Standard Fender Jazz dude. The pickups are great but they're not the CS model versions. A bit naughty from Fender in my opinion. And I think I'm going to buy the same model Fender Jazz you've got now, but I might get it in olympic white
I wanted white! I've heard mixed reviews of the cs jazz pickups tbh and swapping the pups would be easier than trying to add a B string later
2. Cool, that's not helping my five string p Bass gas though
3. A drunken friend was out at a country pub near me a few years ago, Roy Wood was in there (He lives near here) my mate spent the night telling HIM he was Ronnie Wood! Still to this day him and his wife that he was withat the time fall out about it as he says it was Ronnie Wood that he was calling Roy Wood all night, I trust his sober wife and Roy Wood lives a few miles away from the pub in question!
4. There is going to be a squier version of the Teddy Lee with cool kung fu graphics, Teddy worked with the design team personally to create a fitting tribute to his brother.
5. A solid state amp and fifteen inch speaker is still my favourite combination too, the science and my ears disagree sometimes I think the USA standard fenders are better than some people realise, I'm very happy with mine and the others in two different shops had no issues either. Enjoy and I've got white bass gas again now, thanks!
6. Ah that's interesting to know, any idea what sort of five it was?
7.
I'm really not clever enough to work out what you just posted then Pete..
Well I confused myself to be honest! I think the jist of my brain wave was that if two manufacturers had the exact same rate of flawed items for every thousand items made the bigger volume producer will produce more flawed items that then get flagged up by the internet massive.
8. So does he live but the recorded versions would sound a bit thin to me without the lower notes imo, maybe drop D but the the higher bits would be further away and the riffs harder to play, ill stick with my 5s
9. 0.1 percent of 10000 instruments is 10 0.1 percent of 1000 instruments is 1 If a shop had 1 brand X bass and 10 Fenders you could be unlucky enough for all 11 basses to be rubbish
10. We used to do a few Bruno tracks in my old band they all needed a fiver or VERY fast hands and a bass strung B to D!
11. 2 hour practice with my Fender last night, lovely
12.
Ive got a picture of myself, i'm playing a Fender with a music stand in use. Should I hand myself in , or wait till they come?
Oh they already know
13. A second 1x10 genz cab would sound great but might not be enough still, if you add another larger 8 ohm cab it might sound great but at the same time the 10 might be ruined without you hearing it! A single 4 ohm cab and a speakon lead instead of your 1x10 combo connected would be best imo, the shuttle 3.0 only has a single output connection too so make sure if you buy or borrow a pair of cabs they have parallel input connections and a pair of leads to daisy chain them, does that make sense?
14.
I know it doesn't mean much, but when they performed it live on the US version of "the Voice", the guy played a Precision style bass. I know, i know, it doesn't gaurantee it was on the record, and the performance may have been "mimed", I'm just saying
He always plays one live yet the bruno mars records are full of 5 string bass, I dont know why, too cool to be seen with a fiver live?
15. As long as the online stores stay in business we can have an infinite selection of instruments delivered within a few days at the best price so from a selfish point of view what will we lose if the shops close?
16.
I don't follow ... why would you have a multi-channel pre-amp?
Because he has two outputs from his bass, these then get mixed together into one output into the amp or pa.
17. Yes you need to drop the 1x10 and just use the 2x12 or 4x10 or 2 2x10s a single 4 ohm 2x12 would be my choice or a fancy 4 ohm cab with various drivers.
18. The shuttle already has a DI on the back so that is covered but I do use a Fishman in front even with a mag pickup.
19.
I can lend you my EAD 212 if you like. I'm just up the road. It works great for DB being 3-way.
What a nice chap
20. I keep a speakon to jack in my kit bag just in case either my head or cab went mid gig as my cabs are only speakon so I'd need to reverse it to use some one else's head with my cabs. Certainly worth trying because you would need the bigger cab either way wouldn't you?
21.
I have a Sadowsky Metro, which I bought after failing to find a Fender Jazz as much as I liked my Fender Precisions. I honestly think that Fenders have been left behind a bit when it comes to active EQs when compared to Lakland, Sadowsky, Nordstrand, Sandberg etc. When it comes to a passive Jazz design, I still think that a good Fender can stand up next to anything. Hell, despite owning one, I have gone off 'expensive Fender clones with fancy on-board preamps.'.
I agree with this, if I didn't have my active box ticked with the Rays I would have wanted an active Jazz which wouldn't have resulted in the usa fender deluxe, probably an xotic or john east in a USA standard Fender Jazz.
22.
did Leo Fender ever make a Double soap Bar pickup in the shape of a 55-01 with a preamp.? no they didn't. But Lakland did. i think the Fender Fan boy vibe, never really goes down well. like i said I'm not knocking them. there just not for me anymore.
I think we need to give Leo a little nod regarding the Laklands essentially souped up Stingrays which as we know were Leo's design. HH with coil taps were found on the Sabre not long after the Stingray appeared. Didn't Dan Lakin have something to do with musicman in his early days, he used the musicman headstock too which wasn't exactly original was it?
23. I've used my shuttle 3.0 with my 4 ohm 2x12, you will be surprised how much it can kick out given a good 4 ohm load, I love my 3.0 too and I'd never sell it as its so handy as a backup head, practice amp, DI box etc. Could anyone lend you a bigger cab to try, a 2x12 or a 4x10 maybe?
24.
If it's a Markbass solid-state power amp, I wonder if the bottom half of the box is empty?
The guitarist in my old band used to put a plate of wedding buffet food in his fender twin to eat while he was packing up.
