1. Deleted my facebook about 9 months ago, I didnt like the way I could be talking say on here about something only to get a facebook suggestion about it a few days later! Nuked mine the whole hog, deleted every friend one at a time before pulling the trigger. I've not missed out on anything important that could be done via text either.
2. I googled it, made no sense to me either.....
3. I spend quite a bit of time in Brizzle Rory, save your money and walk, it is much quicker down there!
4. I think you could narrow it down to someone that fills in a tax return for income received from work of a musical nature, no tax return = hobbyist, (or tax dodger, I am saying nothing ) small tax return in comparison to other type of work's income or full time employment = semi pro.
5. I like a jumble up as long as they are good songs so do most people, its OK doing a great Motown* set in a Motown* venue or justa few Motown* songs in a set but try it at a party and 90% of the room will hate Motown* *insert genre of choice here.
6.
I NEED a 5-string Jazz next year!!
That is what I said this year, and yes you do, we all do, it is the tool for most jobs
7. Well as everyone has an opinion on set lists I thought it about time we had a set list thread? I am not worried about bands nicking our ideas, I did not write the songs and there isnt many anyone would want,Lol So general guidlines are a brief description of the band and then the set in order or just a list of what you have to fall on should you need it. First band is my trio, electric drums but jobeky ones that look like real ones with a V drums module for various kits for various genres we do, guitar/vocalist with a range of Variax guitars and a midi synth, myself on bass, double bass or EUB if it is a small venue. More of a small pub or muso venue band. Superstition-Stevie Wonder Singing the blues- Guy Mitchell (DB) Chain Gang- Pretenders Everything I own-Bred version (DB) Peaceful Easy Feeling-Eagles (DB) Mystery Song- Status Quo Get it on- T rex Dakota- Stereophonics Aint no sunshine- Bill withers (DB) Up the junction- Squeeze Down down- Status Quo Life in the fast lane- Eagles Baby jump- Mungo Jerry (DB) Take it easy- Eagles (DB or elec bass) Alright now- Free Teenage kicks- Undertones White wedding- Billy Idol Chasing cars- Snow patrol She sells- The Cult Tie your mother down- Queen All that I have- snow patrol Crazy thing called love- Queen Headlong- Queen New york new york Merry christmas- Slade Auld lang syne plus some i have probably forgot? Band two is a 4 piece, drums/lead vocal, female lead vocal, guitar/BV, me just on elec bass. More of a party/wedding/vibrant pub band (hopefully). Monkey man- The Specials Valerie- Amy Winehouse Play that funky music- wild cherry Dont get me wrong- Pretenders you are all that I have- snow patrol Brown eyed girl- Van morrison One way or another- Blondie Please dont make me cry- UB40 You really got me- Kinks Please please me- Beatles Baby come back- Equals Mustang sally- I know I know.. Dakota- Steroephonics (both bands neither my choice) Brass in pocket- Pretenders Town called mallice- The Jam Amarillo- Tony Christie (he lives local to where this band operates) Everything I own- Reggae version by Ken Booth Bring me your cup- UB40 3 little birds/buffalo soldier mashup- Bob Marley Get Lucky- Daft punk Sit Down- James Teenage kicks- Undertones Gimme some lovin- Spencer Davis Use Somebody- Kings of leon 500 miles- Proclaimers Maria- Blondie Hard to handle- Black crowes And again some I have probably forgot! Makes you wonder how many songs you have learnt and forgotten, I have 3 gigs shared between the two bands in less than a week and I will be playing them all without a stand just in case you were wondering,Lol. Both bands are having a clearout and some fresh blood next year but there you go anyone else care to share their thoughts on that lot or even their own set for riddicule?
8. Thats really nice, well done santa! What you say about the pickups is interesting, I did not try a 4 string when I bought my am Std a few weeks ago but as mine is a 5 string it did not get the 60s custom shop pickups so I presume they are the same (but 5 string) version of what you have there then?
9. You know what they say about pics and it not happening?
10. I doubt you are clumsier, Lol. Proper twins they are arent they!
11. Haha there you go, cracking bass aint she?! The only reason that bass is not my go to covers band bass is the lack of a B string, I wish my USA Jazz V sounded as good as it, I still think I will end up with a preamp in mine to try and emulate that Squier Has is gained any alterations or is it still like it was when it was mine? what a huge sounding bass! It has seen some party band buffets with me over the years that little Jazz bass
12. Of course I forgot, I am meant to walk out during the sound check not the performance arent I, silly me! I have Crabtree chrome sockets throughout my house they work well with the Stingray but I find them a bit thin for the Jazz bass, thinking of fitting some screwfix plastic ones just in my practice room to see if the tone improves? Does anyone know which make of fusebox is best for metal?
13.
It's impossible to say what works and what doesn't. I've played Neil Diamond's 'Caroline' a hundred times in my life; sometimes the place goes crazy and sometimes everyone goes outside for a fag. You'll never be able to please everyone all the time, but as long as the band enjoy playing it and sound good while they're playing it then you can't lose. Truckstop
^The man speaks the truth
14.
Same here. Im now used to my 5 string and I find going back to my jazz quite uncomfortable to play.
I solved that problem with a 5 string Jazz
15. The classic http://youtu.be/ItZyaOlrb7E The one and only http://youtu.be/Pd2pSLFjOas One that has been linked about 6 times on our site this year in various places http://youtu.be/iyTTX6Wlf1Y Seams like ages since I saw one dropped in a thread, Feel free to add any I have missed?
16. What colour mains cable is best for a crisp top end? Did it have the EQ button engaged and where was the contour knob? Would a music stand alter the tone of the mains cable if they were on a stage together? Should I walk out of a gig if the bassist does not use the correct mains cable? and if so how would I go about looking down the back of the amp without getting on the stage?
17. True but due to a massive career he has still used one for what would otherwise be a lifetimes work for some bands. Everyone goes on about the stripped P basses yet to my mind I always think of him with the red 80s looking one with the covered pole pieces?
18. What sort of money are those czech-ease basses? they look really good!
19.
Get a fan!

lot lighter than an 810! I suppose one could hook up a fan to a spectrum analyzer than blows more or less air according to the output of the amplifier
Build it into a pair of jeans and I think you could be onto a winner Ampeg self flapping flares? (Ashdown have copywrited the amp with a built in flare system though)
20. [sub]This is my old Affinity Jazz, [/sub] [sub]Rolled fingerboard and fret dressed, [/sub] [sub]New full size tuners,[/sub] [sub]Bartolini pickups, [/sub] [sub]EBS active preamp,[/sub] [sub]BadassII bridge,[/sub] [sub]Fender USA pickguard,[/sub] [sub]Battery in the cavity and the jack socket mounted in the body.[/sub] [sub]Other than that it was a stock Squier other than the fake logo off ebay [/sub] [sub][/sub] [sub]Fantastic bass that someone here has now?[/sub]
21.
Not had the J but had a couple of Affinity P basses over the last few years. Forty quid is a good price. Stock hardware and pups are a bit meh but plenty good enough for casual use and forms a decent base for upgrade (I put a wizard thumper and some wilkinson hardware in mine). I also ended up changing the neck on my last one but that was only for fun.....here's the before and after.
Ah my old P bass, dont tell mcnach or the others, everyone thinks I am a Stingray only fanboi and I like it that way
22. Mini Clubman, 3/4 DB, Mackie PA, 1x12 Bass Combo, Electric bass in a hiscox case plus various bits and bobs including a hercules DB stand! Not much room for a passenger but there would be if I did not need to take both of the Mackie PA speakers. I think it would be fair to say its more fun and better looking than a Berlingo too, Lol
