1. A bit of a racket? One of the Stone Roses has a similar 6 minute jam thing which it reminds me of quite a lot.
2. Well I hope we can all agree then that it's disgraceful in this day and age that you can walk into a pub for free and the band who might be getting paid £250 between five of them don't or can't put on a show equal to that of a fifteen hundred pound function band, I think it only right to walk out and go to another pub that hasn't got a band on at all yet will charge you exactly the same price if not a bit more per pint?
3. If some one was serious that they walk out without the band playing a note I suspect the band would be better off for that type of person not being in the audience, I'm sure we've all seen these experts explaining to their friends what you are doing wrong all night, just sucks the fun out of it IMO.
4. All my Yamahas have been two wheeled ones too, but all their basses I've tried have been great except one which strangely was the yamaha stands show piece Billy Sheehan at the bass day a few years ago which was a bit of a fail imo! 5 strings is the correct number imo
5. Double bass, Hat, glasses AND beard! Now that is a full house
6.
Honeyburst?! Where are you guys finding all these cool colours, I had a choice of black, white or walnut satin (which I have). I'd have loved a honeyburst one. I shouldn't complain too much as I got mine in a clearance sale, but I would have paid more for a snazzy colour.
Hey I like the walnut!
7. The obvious mistake is thinking things are easy, as someone that doesnt play much motown and not much more reggae I wouldn't say either are easy, they sound like they should be! There will be some excellent players on this site that can nail stuff I could only dream of, give them a pick and give them an acdc number and it goes to pieces, could be technically perfect but the x factor missing, very few drummers can play a solid 4 beat in a similar vein and they start playing 8 on the hats ime. Norman Watt Roy and Nathan Watts make everything look easy yet we know otherwise!
8. I have a feeling fashion news doesn't travel so well on fm then.....
9. Obviously a lefty and not had the strings fitted yet but this is the new James Dyson wireless vacuum bass, a right handed version will be made but only in shergold green as Adam Clayton is switching to Dysonbasses because its been over a week since he changed endorsees, the signature does come off with a baby wipe if it offends anyone. 10. That is right Diablo, I find that its best to play over the pickup when using a wireless setup as again that is going to get the signal to the amp quicker too, if you are playing something really fast on a regular basis I would suggest a really low action too, I think I read that for every 1mm of action off the 12th fret creates a 250ms delay, fretless basses are unaffected something to do with ebony wood absorbing the mhz but thats too technical for me
11. I went to see our very own Andy Keeponehandloose at a local to me gig, it came about after we had got chatting at the Derby double bass bash and Andy recalled having an upcoming gig in Stafford, I told him to pm me a reminder nearer the time which he did and luck had it I had a night off from my own gigs. Great night out and the first time I had gone to a live gig of this type other than seeing a few rock and roll style bands at bike and classic car shows, Andy's bass sounded fantastic and his playing is brilliant too, I wasn't sure what to expect as most rockabilly bands I have seen in clips etc just had a percussive sound which is OK but Andy has much more of a melodic and musical thump with the clickety clack thing behind it, excellent! Just look at the size of that kick drum! Lol. My mates enjoyed it too Andy, thanks for a great night out and well done the bass bash for hooking us up, we both said we fancy going to the bash again too. 12. Haha what you like?! Good decision though if you know its the one, it looks the biz
13.
I'd really like to see one of these comparison / "shootout" videos to feature a real band, with different musical styles. I took a P bass with flats through a valve preamp to rehearsal last night, it covered everything in a 24 song genre varied function set beautifully.
That's because the tone was in your fingers all along, you would have coped with a Ray or a Jazz just fine no doubt
14. I agree, we get £80 between 3 of us for setting up the gear, its in a hotel lounge like fawlty towers, they are never going to have a £500 pub band on in there, basically we get a bit of petrol money for a sociable night out.
15. You know how Lemmy eats loads of drugs with no ill effects, I fear you either need less or more to sort you out
16. Sorry to hear this, lets hope the handles do fall off these ones but just as they are trying to cross a busy road with them! Lets hope they are unusual enough to come to light.
17.
I'm going to get one of these on the grounds that if the signal has to go round and round it must be improved, somehow.
How are you at thrusting? See earlier posts
18. Calling keeponehandloose......... Lovely.
19.
Roto is pretty cheap and is great. The only thing i don't like them is the brightness don't stay for long before it start getting dull again ....... I like their flats tho. Nice tension and brightness in my opinion.
I can imagine their flats being ok actually, pmt gave me a new set of roto strings with my new jazz a few weeks ago, they were dull in less than one gig! I always find elites ok for cheaper strings but the green eb ones are my regular purchase. Anyway im glad the bass is sounding good now, what about a few pics eh ?
20. The good basslines might be written and recorded by the edge.....or bono...or Larry
