1. They look great! I'd put one of the stingray 2eq clone preamps in it.
2. I know the left isn't blue pearl btw but it's as if it's a non glossy trans version of it, my money would be on it being much flatter like the one on the right
3. The pic on the left looks more like blue pearl with lots of light on it, they are really sparkly! From the walnut subs I've seen I'd expect it to more like the satin finish on the right. Check out the ebmm porn thread, me and ern500evo both have blue pearl basses,I think there is a pic of them together in there?
4. All I can base my own opinion on is my own findings, from loads of rays personally I've had not one weak G so that's where I'm at, I'd love to try one with a bad one if anyone has one for me to try?
5. It's the best looking barefaced yet imo, credit where its due
6. Sharpie marker I love a plain board!
7. I rarely use my amp as the only FOH sound and I never mic my cabs, always pre EQ Di so I'm not that bothered really, A Stingray straight into the desk always sounds great imo
8. Whenever I've seen a band using a Mustang bass it has sounded great to me I started on upright bass after an injury as it meant I did not need to fold my wrist around, the eub has really low tension to play too.
9.
The one thing that stops we lusting after and buying a Coppolo P Bass is the look of the headstock, which really doesn't work for my eyes.
Somehow they dont look so bad in the flesh to me?
10. I was going to ask if you were sure about the tone pot!
11. I think part of the problem is that they have a huge collector base so letting people choose items from limited run models in their eyes could turn away someone that buys every limited edition model to please one person, I'm all for them doing custom orders but as they don't I wouldn't be to worried about them not building me a specific bass, I also still think the price point would be an issue too, if they said yes they will build it for £2750 would you have ordered it? That would still be less than a passive custom shop fender from what I've seen.
12. To put it on par with a fender custom it would have to cost £2500-£3500 for what would be a bass no nicer than a stock classic Ray really, would anyone pay that for one?
13.
I think maybe my thread title was a little misleading. It was meant to be tongue in cheek as EB doesn't have a Custom Shop.
Exactly,I think you've answered your own question:D
14. Tonights one show, I was only half watching to be honest.
15. I've only found the ebmm forum members to be overly touchy really and I suspect that goes for any forum for a specific brand of anything? I must admit ive never seen a weak G on one which woukd be odd if its anything other than some form of eq thing, not necessarily the users fault as it could just be a compatability issue or something, I'm still struggling to get what I want from my Jazz but I know its not a faulty bass.
16. There's a lot of timber used in them big headstocks! Great basses though, you pays ya money etc.
17. I'll take whatever I can get and I agree if everything else is good I'd be happy to keep it if its fixed quickly/properly, finding another nice one could be hard
18. The Classic 5 looks like a possible fit, the sr4 wont as the neck pocket is narrower and the pickup wont fit in the hole. The SUB 5 predates the Classic5 as the only 5 with the oval plate so its a bit of an unknown quantity.
19. Are they scratches? Looks like plastic swarf in the picture and a bit actually on the pickguard.
