The Stingray 5's B is already a tough act to follow especially unless I go up to 35" A tight B is one thing but I do like the little bit of flap a stingray gives, I mostly play on the fretted E just because I like that sound now, shopping trip is order I think, but I'm determined not to buy another bloody stingray
Interesting! When I had a (gen 1) BFB Compact, the GB 212T became available at a price that I thought to good to refuse - so I ordered one. At £379 it was half the RRP. I rehearsed it and gigged it - but was totally unable to get a sound that I liked or that was properly audible in the band mix (the support band's bassist used it too). It was also surprisingly heavy - a fact exacerbated by the (back on topic now!) stupidly placed handles! I also found the finish quality to be disappointing. Switching back to the Compact allowed me to find "my sound" straight away and have a one-handed lift! I had the Compact up for sale but after a nifty bit of negotiation decided to keep it and sell the GB instead! That said - I've tried a few of the TKS offerings and have been impressed, and they are available new for the price of a (well) used BFB cab...
Those were a revamped second generation version of mine and other people have said similar things, maybe there was a reason they halved the priced? I think the production was moved and the finish was not so good, miss matched screws that were too long etc and the coating was changed,The newer style badges fell off on some too I think, I don't mind the side handles, tilt back and roll along on the rubber rattle free wheels, not all things are created equal especially if the axe is about to fall, I presume the drivers are nothing like mine either if it was heavy? I'm glad I didn't "upgrade" my early version now Funnily enough guru Claber rates the early neoxT cab quite highly. Like most brands the first ones are a bit heath Robinson, then they get really good, then the bean counters come in and spoil things, then fender close them down EDIT, JUST CHECKED YOU HAD A NX2T NOT A NeoxT, Different drivers and different covering to mine yet the one you had was actually lighter than a Barefaced at 20.86kgs compared to mine at 24kg.

I've played through an ebs stack with four glinting grilled cabs behind me, Stevie wonder would have made some form of comment about how good they looked
For an 800 quid cab? I'd want it to look like it cost 800 quid, for a start.
Yep, you can only get away with less if their is no alternative the Genz is /was very similar in specification and £799 and there are other options with a smarter fit and finish for the same or less.
-
My Genz neoxT 2x12 is only 24kg, not deal breaking extra weight over the barefaced with a much more professional finish to the cabinet all over. Shame fender killed them off

With any stingray I've found that if I set up a nice finger tone all I need to do for songs with a pick is knock the treble off a little bit, I've always played a mixture of pick and fingers in a set and I mostly only use the treble pot like a tone pot really, there's only so smooth a stingray will go unless as Howiebass says use a bit of palm mute, stingray with the treble off, bass on full, palm muted with a clicky pick action, lovely
All this bluster with no facts... Its like listening to LBC
Exactly, I think we should send someone to stand outside the airport in the rain until there is some more info? "this just in....nothing actually". -
I live fairly near the city centre, so it's busy, but there are lots of cycle lanes and it's 2 miles max to any of the venues I use the trailer for. Any further, or having to go on a main road, and I wouldn't use it I don't think.
I should also add that I'm a lazy fat bastard
-
People say that but mine is from personal experience Doddy rather than repeating what I've heard in the play ground I'm hoping I will find one for myself as I like the idea of it, opposite of my stingrays, I might even go for a rosewood finger board

Fearless and fearful cabs can be pro built now with custom coatings and they sound brilliant!

Even though I'm fairly sure the fender B string isn't going to do it for me something still makes me want to go and (triple by now) check, so even as a taker or leaver of fender something still makes me want that badge? I'd only want either another squier as a project or a full on USA, stuff in the middle doesn't appeal to my snob side
I think if I were looking for a great 4 string Jazz I would be looking to find either a Japanese vintage reissue or the older american vintage reissue series, the '75ri or the '62ri. The Roadworns were good and I had a soft spot for the Highway ones too. If I were looking for a great 5 string Jazz I probably wouldn't even look at anything that said Fender on it. Overwater/Valenti/Sadowsky/Lakland/whatever ....
I think I like the idea of owning a fender again but as it will be a fiver I suspect it will not be one as you have pointed out, I'm going to try a deluxe V again but there's a good chance it's going to be a lakland 55-60 or even a 95-14.
Very good point. Different pricing based on different quality components is one thing, but different build quality is ludicrous really. Imagine buying a car and being told by the dealership that you could have one built properly for one price or built a bit shoddily for a bit less. Quite an odd marketing model when you think about it.
Exactly that has gone on for years, the trick is keeping the markets separate, SEAT were once cheaply made Fiats, look how that turned out! You can still buy a Hillman Hunter in Iran called a Paykan, it has just replaced the version based on the the Morris Oxford JUST! In this internet age with worldwide shipping it just wouldn't work to sell cheap ones to poorer countries and keep the USA models as a top of the range. When I bought my first Musicman part of the appeal was the lack of budget versions, you knew that your bass could have been next to one Flea was thrashing on the production line, then came OLP, then SUB, then SBMM and now SUB by Sterling, its a total mess heading the same way as Fender. I am genuinely looking to buy a Jazz V fairly soon, I've just been looking on guitar guitar's site and Thomann, I have no idea what I'm looking at regarding where they are built and what to expect?

And I bet some unprofessional 14 year old lad was still such an idiot to not take a spare wall of sound too, I'd not even lend him a plectrum just to teach him a lesson!
-
As others have said though that isnt the only criticism is it? Some dont like the middy sound others feel that the build quality of the cabs isnt great, some just dont like the look of the cabs. Anyone who points this out is just a troll trying to ruin a small company and anyone that glosses over them is a fan boi, rinse and repeat.

My nearest gig/town from home other than the village pub is 7 miles away up a winding hilly lane, so as Duncan would say "amm ooot"

The opening note is not the key of the song....
You still have to be careful Cmajor is not Aminor. There are very subtle differences.
Well I will end up a lot closer playing C major over an A minor piece than I will playing A major over it, major minor clang -
I already made a suggestion that Genz-Benz could make an Shuttlemax 18.2, a hybrid of the 12.2 that use two 600watt classD amps but with the 900 watt power modules from the Shuttle/max 9.2, with all the features of the Shuttlemax 9.2 yet you could run 4 8ohm 4x10 cabs or a pair of big 4 ohm 2x12s etc, 1800 watts into 16 10" drivers with a clean and dirty channel what is not to like?! Lets get Jeff Genzler out and back into production again
I took out a couple of antagonistic posts here. Just be warned, keep it civil.
I just checked in to see if there are anymore facts come to light as I saw it was up to 4 pages, alas there is not but that doesn't stop people defending her or others defending the immigration officers does it, As we know nothing more it remains 50/50 either a shame for her or a job well done by the authorities. -
The "Right" bass. How long will it last?

My own ability never got past about my 3rd bass owned, after that it has been "wants rather than needs"
