Not many basses are made from solid fancy wood though are they, also these claims are often made when its only a top added that has supposedly altered the tone, "spalted woodius wormus top adds amazing top end zing compared to my book matched rotten knotted hazelnut one" etc

My double bass has deprived a couple of nice solid topped guitars from being built

I was wondering when the British motorcycle industry would come up I see them as two bits of wood made by a machine screwed together,I don't see how there can be much difference from one to the next if you know how to set it up? Same goes for the comments regarding lime light etc, not exactly hand made like a Fodera are they. Still if I see a nice jazz five I might grab it as I have an F hole in my collection right now

Anyone else get set lists for gigs or dep gigs etc with the keys written next to each song but they have failed to understand the concept of musical keys and actually just given you the note that is either the root of the opening chord or the most common note in the song?!

Mine has been great, brilliant amps, I must try it with my 2x12 just to see if I've ruined my 12 inch cab or if the head needs checking, possibly new valve time

This is what Jake Newman has been teaching me along with double bass technique, having a teacher really helps imo, doesn't have to be every week, once every few months can be enough to get you pointing the right way then when you get stuck again have another. Doddy taught me to read music which has also helped with learning some theory as most of the books are in fly droppings I'm literally just a tiny bit in front of this topic on the two octave scale (9th 11th and 13th to confuse me) and how the different chord tones fit within the scales thus in turn why certain notes work in a chord progression, your brain is already trying to go there by the sounds of things , like Doddy says though I (we) need to learn note names rather than shapes which I'm guilty of! My thumb naturally goes to 'that spot', well mine would wouldn't it lol but even on my acoustic bass it sounds a bit stingray-esque!

I play all sorts of styles from Reggae to country, rock to pop and I could play all of those songs on the Peavey Foundation I bought new in 1993, having a B string is probably the only thing I would really miss if I went back. I've seen everything from folk music to two handed tapping and crazy skills and chops on a Stingray so I can't see me outgrowing them, I might add a five string super Jazz to the collection at some point though
