1. Not being able to play on the beat and consciously playing in a constant space before or after the beat are different things, it only becomes a feel thing once you know what you are doing when it becomes second nature IMO
2. That's one funky bass! Is it weighty?
3.
Shame on me for having an opinion...
I didn't say you couldn't have one, the FACT that you can buy a brand new 2 eq stingray today in a shop near you fitted with the same pickup and exact same two band preamp using the same micro chip as a stingray from around 1979 would suggest your more modern stingray comment is flawed that's all
4. First thing to check is the Jack socket, make sure it does disconnect the battery when the lead is out as some basses don't, fit one that does if not for a few quid.
5. I am a w***er so I'd have been fine with it I'm not sure what's worse, I think I'd rather play for seven years with one bloke shouting w***er all night than one gig playing Sting songs
6. Hello! I have indeed gone for a mag pickup, a Schaller 411, I'm really happy with it and it's given me the confidence to gig the upright now I can here what I'm playing! I'm going to blend my piezo in with ALL frequencies removed that cause any trouble with the Fishman plat pro, I've ordered a Behringer ab100 so I can end up with a single output to go either to my amp or the pa, for blues or county etc it should work well and with the piezo mixed in for a bit of that DB tone it should sound a lot less fretless P bass held on end! It will be at the derby bash on Sunday
7. PS I've been looking for the reverse but never found one, a right hander playing a normal strung lefty?
8. There are more of them than you think, the bloke from The Doves does it I'm fairly certain as does our local busker on a 12 string acoustic, I presume they are self taught on an instrument left lying around especially a symmetrical acoustic.
9. I swap my batteries and strings once a year now, all three at the same time
10.
Fixed that for you there...
Have they changed the modern stingray then without me looking?
11. I'm really looking forward to it, my ab pedal has arrived at my parents as I'm in Spain but I should be able to get it set up to use both the mag pickup and the kk bass max together with a shuttle 3.0 and 1x10 cab on Sunday.
12. The ATK is great as long you dont want a bass that looks or sounds like a Stingray
13.
Actually, I forgot that Nate Newton from Converge used a Stingray for quite a while (since switched to Precisions). Unconventional but awesome Stingray tone at 0:40 on this track!
I wasn't familiar with them, thats easy listening covered now then too
14.
You missed out Acoustic David Bowie, Live Acoustic "Heroes": http://youtu.be/pBiiFplMWls
Sorry yes clearly no good for that either! Can we decide which of these tricks it is good at is the one trick it does? If you can't cover every genre with one you need to look closer to home imo
15. All these clips of Disco, Pop, Rock, Funk, Soul, Ballads, Prog Rock, Blues, 80's Slap etc are just high lighting just what a one trick pony the Stingray really is
16. I am on PC now so here are some links, there grasp of different styles is excellent. The original one TNIT linked that got me hooked All I can say is http://youtu.be/_PVLCZE_ov0
17. I will be after some tickets for that then! What a great bunch of musicians, sounds like I am only number 2 fan of Robyn then after all?
18. Because it was my last ever free gig, there will be no more updates
19. So thisnameistaken put a link to a cover of that "All about that bass" by Kate Davis in the db section, its great! So as you do I start browsing and watch the other clips, Scott is the pianist then the other artists and genres are mixed up covers, some are fecking ace and the dark haired singer is well.. If anyone has better skills than me can you link a couple of clips for me as im on a tablet thing it takes me ages,ta. Love it! Im thinking there was a thread regarding post modern jukebox now?
20. Blimey that did go quick, I only fitted my schaller 411 because it sold so quick last time
21. There is something special about a black/black/maple stingray, just a proper bass
22. I am a man of my word and it was one of the better charity gigs due to the audience enjoying it
23. I think there are some brilliant and high profile picked Stingray songs out there?! http://youtu.be/8I8mWG6HlmU Take it away Cliff, surely the master of a killer Stingray pick tone? http://youtu.be/44XYEeD1A1U
