1. My Classic 5 now lists at around £2200, Listed on here I would imagine I would be asking around £1300 including the John East preamp, TBF I did not buy that one new. As much as you are down on EBMM now you must have liked them at some stage to have bought so many nice examples so there is no knowing if something 'better' might come along. I just enjoy the ride me, If I added up all the receipts for parts and services for my classic cars I could easily have bought a 355 Ferrari by now but would it be worth loads and be as much fun as my Morris minors, MGBs or Minis......actually thats not a very good example is it?
2. Putting these tracking sim cards into a cheap phone is getting popular with the Classic car scene, if you are doing a full rebuild you can even weld one in and run a discreet feed to a charger and leave it there forever, only a clued up thief will run an inline ammeter to see if there is any load on the positive battery feed. velcro'd to the rear seat panel behind the petrol tank on a mini works great as its a task to remove the tank for example. There is no reason why you could not stash one in a speaker cab or better still a combo that charges when ever the amp is plugged in?
3. Would you get every penny back on all the dingwalls if something else came along, you might say yes but you know you wouldn't.
4. Unless you buy used I can't see how you can break even let alone make money, it's just a cost of my hobby and not even a consideration in my buying process to be honest.
5.
Shouldn't you be 5tingray then...?
Well I only had one stingray 4 when I joined bass chat! I agree they are only going to be as strong as the wall behind, even then some people can't knock a nail in can they, I'm an electrician but I often have to re fix curtain poles for useless husbands that have put tiny yellow rawl plugs to hold up full length heavy curtains!
6. Im quite a good swimmer! Lol My mate has a butterscotch strat with a black scratch plate it is indeed a trans finish but they vary in there trans-ness (new word?) From what ive seen.
7. My case which came from a sale or swap on here has butterscotch jazz faintly written on it, surprise surprise it actually contained a Stingray, lol
8. Im not sure about the strings but I love the flea bass, I still have serious gas for a modulus funk5 in silver!
9. Ive never made money on anything, I knew when I strolled out of pmt in 2010 with my blue sr5 for £1650 id struggle to get more than around £1100 if id listed in the for sale section here Gas
10. The four string one isnt mine actually, that would just be silly, lol
11. Gratuitous ebmm stuff on hangers.....just the cheap hangers off ebay and that black Ray 5 is quite heavy!
12. All I can add is have fun! Gambas rule too, lol
13. Bergs are always nice IMO , that said I wouldn't bother swapping my early neoxT for one, I'd rather but a pair of Bergs than another single 2x12.
14. Such a cool looking bass! And confirmation of a five with the single coils too, thanks for the review. 5 SSS in sparkly silver please
15. So you are saying if he had said no you would have sold it for nearly half what you are asking on here for it? If we did not know you and fiatcoupe on here and just saw the bass relisted on ebay with a buy it now for £550 a week after it had sold for £300 we would be saying what a w***er ebay timewaster wouldn't we?
16. Beach ball through the sound hole, blow it up, job done Double bass standard trick for volume gigs.
17. Its not a witch hunt, so what you found a fellow basschatter who was happy to let you go back on your words, ive had it done to me so many times on ebay that it boils my piss. I said in the first place that its good that you were honest in your reasoning rather than coming up with a silly story about it being stolen or broken after the sale, still a poor show imo
18. Those Genz contour combos that were sold off at the end were going for this kind of money I think, you really won't beat one with anything for the same money, that's a fact not an IMO
19. Ah really I fancied the sss but it needs to be a five, they are so rare colour and pickup options would have to be pot luck anyway!
20. The lol was aimed at discreet Ian, took ages to update, lol
21.
I don't really understand what you're saying here - the people you've quoted have stated facts about how much they know some pro musicians can earn so they aren't 'opinions'?
Well I understood it and agree with him, I know people who earn much more than me but never have any spare money because they have a much more lavish lifestyle than me. The factual examples given are meaningless without knowing their personal circumstances, a guy bumming around crashing with mates or parents that had no children and is happy as long as they have a few meals a day and a bed to sleep in is going to be able to be in a full time music job playing covers easier than a guy with four teenage children,a massive mortgage on a five bed house in London and a wife that won't leave the house without a grands worth of clothes on and drives a range rover evoque but won't work herself.
