1. If I was local and there was a number id go and view it, you never know.
2. My old cab is still mint even with rat fur, I actually prefer rat fur.
3.
Is this even a clear cut fight? A lot of the newer micro amps will have some kind of processing to make them sound louder, a certain Eq here, a bit of compression here, a low end roll off there, or even full on DSP to squeeze as much power out of it as you can (TC RH I'm looking at you!) Not to say that that isn't a good thing in an amp but it does mean you're not comparing like for like. StingrayPete1977 mentioned his Shuttle 3.0 - which is a nice little amp - but the EBS will be putting out low end that the Shuttle is filtering out.... loudness alone is not a fair comparison
thing is I still filter out those frequencies when usin my 6.0 or even the 9.2max heads, I think the minimum they can put out is 37hz anything lower is the mush that people think they want when trying it at home or in the shop, if you really do need that live with volume forget most of the gear most of us have
4. Bargain, I will just send him my bank account details and mothers maiden name..........hang on a minute!
5. It want that long ago that loads of bands had a Peavey 1x15 TNT combo of about 120 -150 Watts was it?
6. Parafin heaters or calor gas things give off moisture, lots of it!
7. My shuttle 3.0 can power my 4 ohm 2x12 cab enough for any gig so the 6.0 and 9.2 are purely luxurys really.
8. Like many double basses the back and sides of mine are plywood although I did decide to splurge a few extra quid for a solid carved spruce front, its the prettiest plywood I have ever seen though so I doubt it came out of a rack at b and q
9. I always founds elites good on my 2002 teal and maple ray, id try them as I hate rotos!
10.
Me neither, I knew better...but I still did I'm awaiting a ShuttleMax12.2 and one NX2 212T cab from GAK and one NX2 212T cab and the shuttle bag thingy from Bass Direct.... oh and a cover from roqsolid (I'll order another if the GAK cab actually turns up) Got the speakons from obbm on here already though good old BC It'll be a miracle if this all works out...
It's gonna be an epic rig! I have said before they should have made an 18.2 version giving 900 watts at four ohms each and maybe a range of 8 ohm cabs so you could of had four 2x12 cabs and 1800 Watts with a choice of valve or fet! A fairly easy way to of wiped out the competition but it was not to be
11. I had a Kay sg with the pickups screwed onto the top basically like Doms prototype, it had a big sound.
12. I think you could screw a musicman neck to a square sheet of ply then as long as you put the preamp and humbucker on it with the correct scale length and pickup placement it would sound just like a stingray? The body edges would be more like a Ricky granted
13. Well I heard you play and I've heard me play,I think I know which person is doing it properly! I had the bow going quite well for about fifteen minutes non stop when I returned it had gone off again so I'm going to try again later
14. That doesnt sound like a very fair test to me, three amps at 500 watt compared to a head putting out only 350 watt.
15. Just looked at the link,no! Halogens are only really for human/living occupants designed to heat people/animals rather than air, they were first used for drying horses where you cant heat an open stable. It needs to be something like a storage heater as discreet says or maybe an oil filled radiator left on low then turned up when anyones uses the room.
16. Most ebs fans will tell you that without ebs cabs and their super sharp tweeters you are Fighting a losing battle. Which other two ohm heads did you compare it to?
17.
My EBMM SUB5 had an alnico pickup, wired in parallel.
That sounds familiar from an old thread now Jose, did we ever work out where they took the pickup from or did we decide it was made just for the SUB? So confusing! What do you think about a series parallel switch?
18. I have had trouble with jazz pickups and the cancellation thing between jazz pickups causes me more trouble than the weak G thing. I know some basses have a reversed p pickup I presume its related to even output so thats problems with the three most popular basses and as for Rickenbackers.......
19. Thats how I felt, all neat and in order, just a choice of colour for me these days
20. Yeah I think so, im sure someone in the repairs and technical could make you a diagram, might even be a similar thread. You could add a single coil option but you will get some hum without the phantom coil the full on usa versions have.
21. Time to have a peek inside at the pickup and preamp on both basses imo, I would get a push pull pot fitted for series parallel on the usa bass.
22. I think you are going to understand why everyone was baffled by how much low you were adding! Some people sold there streamliners because they were too bassy even though turning the lows down would have solved it years of putting the knobs at 12 oclock meant they would not cut the lows.
