1. It must be a totally different preamp to the usa 2 bands then.
2.
maybe a bit like this ? http://youtu.be/AI2k6aseNqg
That sounds ace, shame about the camera work.
3. Am I right in thinking neither of them have selector switches too? So we dont know if either of them of wired in series rather than parallel, wheres mcnach and his soldering iron when you need him?
4. Im going to have a stab in the dark here and say the usa will have a ceramic pickup like a standard usa Ray of the same era where the indonesian one probably has an alnico one previously only possible by buying either an early ray five (80's and early 90's) or like my blue 2010 one with the alnico coming in around 2007 even though my black 2007 is a last of the line ceramic version but with the newer switch/battery box position etc. So to get the full pre eb sound from the usa sub you should put the indonesian pickup in it although its probably not the same as a usa pickup, confused yet? Lol
5. I have been practicing Jake, sounding better already, im amazed! Even the bow is sounding less like cats fighting
6.
It seems like I'm going to have to get a new rig. I play (at the minute) in a kinda alternative rockish band and use primarily sandberg basses (Electra TT, California TM and a Basic VM). What would you guys recommend as a rig based on the GB stuff on offer at the min? we aren't playing gigs yet (but will be soon) and as with all things, I wonder how flexible the gear will be for the future. I'm leaning towards a shuttle 9.2 with a Neo 212T....I want a more "modern sound" but with plenty of flexibility, sound like a good idea?
Thats all very similar to what I do and with a similar setup, albeit a max head but it should work well.
7. Ive gigged a 650 with 4 2x10 cabs, I cant imagine a situation where the word underpowered could be used!
8.
I have a 2011 2 band classic with a maple board. It is an exquisite bass. Light, resonant and sounds fantastic. I've been round the block a couple of time with Rays and this is the best one. The neck profile (pre EB) is stunning. An amazing bass!
As much as I loved my pre eb stingrays the overall fit and finish on the classic series is the best I have seen on any musicman bass, one of the best regardless of make actually.
9. Has someone messed with it do you think, was it bought new or used? Sounds like someone has disconnected the tweeter and possibly loosened the speaker wire.
10. Aha, I knew something was wrong! If I had spotted this earlier I could have helped by checking inside mine for you, can you not see the spade connector with no wire in it where it came from or does it look to have been doubled up with another wire and just broke off? Id presume it would be on the same connector as the matching terminal of the working driver as the cab is wired in parallel I think but I have never looked inside, sorry. Plus point is you are going to be more than happy once its sorted!!
11. Nick of "Nick's guitars" uses that combination in a country band I think? Might be worth looking down that avenue.
12. I think he sounds best on a Modulus live, I wasnt a fan of his Jazz bass era and I presume neither was he as it was quite short and returned to the Modulus even though he had parted company with them so he must really dig them, I still want one in sparkly silver, 5 string natch
13.
oh my. why cant you guys just say. yeah Andrew i like the playing and enjoyed it, or no Andrew i dont like it and your a twat. ?
No Andrew I dont like it and *your a twat. *You're
14.
Fill in the gaps in your double bass made by the lighting rig?
I use a Laminate floor repair pen to hide the rawness of the now exposed wood but It pissed me off all that night
15. Seen the clip now, I can play it better than that so she aint that great, Not even close to Marta in any way imo
16.
I look a bit like Toby Jug and I've got couple of Music Man basses. Would you like to be friends ?
I think I'll pass thanks
17. I bought a shuttle 6.0 and a neox 2x12t as a replacement to my faulty ashdown rig years ago, busy with weddings and functions at the time it was just the job, I later bought a neox 1x12t for smaller pub gigs and jam nights etc as I found the shuttle 6.0 on its bottom limit was still quite loud, a mate upgraded his shuttle 3.0 for a streamiler 600 a couple of years ago so I bought that as a spare for wedding gigs instead of a laney head I bought as the backup to the intermittent fault ridden ashdown. I then found I preferred the fet of the 3.0 to the valve of the 6.0 so I decided to buy a 9.2max head to give me both amps in one plus the extra power, just before I spent a grand on one I bagged an as new one with a smart case and the pedal board for £530 off ebay. The features of the 9.2 max are brilliant and great if you use two very different basses or like me electric upright set on one channel, stingray on the other, double bass fed into the global return from a fishman plat pro to stop feedback. Sounds like a mess but it saves having three amps and swapping speaker cables.
18. I cant see it on galaxy tab, shame as I like jugs and stingrays....
19. New double bass, first gig, lighting rig.....fill in the gaps
20. Mine has ragged where the wheels are but it sounds like they have altered them, that's why roqsolid are great! My ragged cover is less annoying than you lot paying about £400 less than i did for the old version
21. I tend to use whatever my pro player friend gives me these days
22. I read that he uses a ray five for recording these days but never live,i don't get that either really?
23. I read that as going up the register towards the body rather than across the strings? As in the e string would get quieter as you go up.I can't see why a modulus would be any better either if it's a technical problem with the bass especially a some people say they changed the pickup and the preamp without curing it, where does it end?
