1. I don't understand why these builders don't make a stock of items if they are a standard spec version with a clear demand? Our local chip shop look bemused when people come in at lunch time for chips, you would think after thirty years they would have a clue wouldn't you!
2. Now I have no metal in there I think I'm getting less trouble from the seasonal changes but the under lying problem doesn't feel any different
3. I used one at a jam night a while ago, brilliant and possibly sounded better than my shuttle I'd jump at one if I was after a new amp.
4. I only started on my brand new db at the start of this year, after playing it for 15 to 30 minutes a day everyday it is sounding much better
5. Everything I play sounds like me playing it, even the acoustic bass sounds like me playing a ray as my bad habits shine through!
6.
I'm seeing more DB "players" but a lot of them seem to be playing like they would on their electric, one finger per "fret" and a horizontal pluck just below the neck join using an electric style pluck and relying on the amp to boost the signal. Steve
I'm not in a position to poke fun at their technique I'm struggling to play without a hat these days.
7.
Fair point, but how many people do their own oil changes?
Me
8.
Dagnabbit! Everytime I think I have begun to suss it out, the goal posts move! :/
Keep at it you will get there
9. That's the ones, not sure who is offering the best price on them these days, my last ones were either from Ebay or bass direct. The slightly thicker D and G are well suited to IMO.
10. They really are great instruments, I have an mm4 (silhouette guitar) and its brilliant! I was all about 125 b strings when I first started on fives but my rays do work best with a 130 imo, green pack of ebmm ones being the obvious choice
11. I don't have an issue with extra members live as long as they are on stage not like a well known band I saw last year where the guitar tech was very busy just of stage during the guitar solos
12.
Hi guys, thanks for the suggestion. The reason I want to keep the size of the car slightly smaller is because of petrol costs and the bigger the car the bigger the charge on the ferry. Cheers,
Could you ask a neighbour or friend with a Corsa or Fiesta sized car for a trial run in theirs then just to see? The only trouble I can see with a size lower is that these new cars (which they will be on hire) is that they are smaller inside than the previous models even if they are larger outside! The fiesta my sister had was smaller inside than my old 1983 MK1 version! Something like the new Kia C'eed might be good and diesel consumption will be good too.
13. In the grand scheme of music what we as a whole (myself included) regard as bass playing and ground breaking music is nothing but a blip in time, how long as electricity been available in every venue, 100 years or less? never mind how long has electric bass been about. We have no idea what will happen next really do we, strange inplanted sounds that stimulate sections of the brain or something? We are seeing a real rise in popularity of double bass (again myself included) and traditional instruments in general, maybe the elec bass will be a thing that was popular for 100 years only, who knows?
14.
Will it be someone from a band , or someone from Youtube (or whatever it will be called in 30 years time) who play covers ? Some of them get hundreds of thousands of views
I'm seeing a sandberg and a maids outfit!
15.
I find an estate easier for loading a bass plus you can slide the cab/amp/why in easily. Focus estate very good although I have a German these days.
But is it worth the extra cost if hiring one? Long term hire contact i agree but our local hertz etc would not have one to hand like a golf focus Astra etc hatch so i presume you would pay more?
16. New Golf and Focus are about the same length as each other and the MK2 Focus looking on the net so no need for an estate IMO
17. Isnt the latest Golf a bit smaller than the last one too? I can put the scroll on the armrest and the bass does not protrude anywhere near the handbrake or gear stick which is handy, I had a MKV Golf before the Focus (58 reg) and the Focus is alot bigger inside. Just had a look the MK2 Focus is nearly a foot longer than a MK5 Golf.
18. I have a regular focus hatch and it swallows the db and all my other gear so I wouldn't worry too much about the estate bit if they are more expensive to hire?
19. I am almost back on the scene now, stitches out a week on thursday then I will be back on the lessons, keep them coming Geoff
20. I'm seeing more and db players all the time, were there more db players than elec players on the show last night? I don't know who he was either but I too liked it
