1.
Sounds like bollocks to me

Haha, I was in the shop with Pinball when the guy behind the counter was telling us this. Personally, I think the guy in the shop is full of sh*t 90% of the time. He was the same guy who told me that there are only around a dozen people in the world who truly know how to set up a guitar properly (him being one of them). He's a good laugh if you're bored.
Looks like I was right in the first place then?
2. Buying anything new as an investment is probably a bad idea, then again I know a guy who paid £9k for a Jimmy Page les paul a while ago, Gibson reduced them to £7200 a few months after, then Led Zepplin reformed a few months later and he sold it for £12500 so what do I know?
3. I'd look at g&l and lakland if you are shopping too?
4.
Hey guys, thanks for the suggestions, as much as I love stingrays, right now I'm looking for something else. One day ill treat myself to a 4 string, but right now I'm leaning more towards a warwick, any other thoughts?
Unless like me you decide to ditch the 4's completely
5. I intend to purchase a Lakland 55-94 with a blue swimming pool finish, they play and sound very nice to me
6. The only thing to remember is the conditions at the factories most of the cheap(er) version guitars are made is less than ideal, if they protest then the companies behind them just close them and open in a new country. Also take a minute to think that it is a surprise this clip exists really as in the countries involved often free speech is not exactly an option is it?
7. I stole it from someone else on here anyway, go for it!
8.
I'll throw in Musicman SR5, 34" scale length with narrow 17.5mm string spacing and you would get a second hand one for that money.
Yep and you probably won't lose a penny on it if you get one second hand either, it is still THE five string bass IMO. My cheapest bass is my black SR5, it has the wrong neck fitted as it was a factory fretless and is a very last of the ceramic pickup models which I had previously bypassed in favour of alnico ones to be more stingray, it's my favourite bass!
9. I trust this position is filled now, did the new player have some chops?
10.
There's no F-ing way!
Aha only just caught up with this thread!
11. Mine came really quick from yita, no problems at all I believe others here had no trouble either? Mine is really pretty, I sometimes just hold it and look at it!
12. Ah bugger, I have never used the other three so can't help sorry.
13. Ha I like that! Tbf most of the ones I have encountered did have guitars, no amps, leads, strap or braincells though.
14.
Every time!!!
That's hook a duck "prize every time"!
15.
Yes, it is. I agree that it depends who's asking. And if they're NOT asking, then NO. What really gets on my teats are social inadequates who turn up empty-handed and assume that they can use ALL your gear - rig, bass, leads, FX, the lot - without so much as a 'could I use your rig/bass/leads/FX/the lot, please?'. Grr!
Had this last year at a summer fete, drummer has nothing maybe not even sticks from memory, our drummer is a lefty and had only a cocktail kit which he said wasn't up to the task of what stuff they did, our drummer hadn't even been asked in advance to share a kit, they eventually decided to go on anyway, nirvana covers easily played on a 3 piece kit!
16.
Doesn't bother me, to be frank.
I'm looking forward to the first gig where some baggy arsed trousered kid who has decided not to bring his bass to a gig so he can go straight into town on the pull after asks to use mine only to be confronted with a 3/4 half carved in front of all his adoring fans
17. I try not to get hooked up on things like this.
18. Just watched a few more lessons which has given me enough things to go and try, I'm doing most of the things not to do with the left hand although I'm using the right bit of the fingers and not collapsing, bunching up I'm sure I do and just the general hand shape and trying to relax. Already raised my endpin as no other clips told me to keep the bass an arms length away then let it fall back. I need to go and get in front of the mirror with the misery stick for a bit, cheers Geoff these are ace
19. A 2x10 and a 4x10 is not a 6x10. If someone with a 4x10 is told to add more of the same I'd take it as adding another 4x10. Getting the extra power from your amp won't help if you can only turn up until the smaller cab starts farting.
