1.
I must say that I didn't even notice the difference when I first played my 55-02 and I don't notice the difference when I swap between it and my 34" scale basses. I does, however, produce a very pleasing B to my ears. YMMV.
I don't really notice either, I really like 55-02 basses and the proper USA version, probably the only bass on my radar at the moment, proper bass for all occasions I think.
2.
I wouldn't rule out a Jazz 5.
I was already thinking about the Mayones in the for sale section before I had finished reading the OP
3. I know it has the three valves that interact but there must be a way of cutting the lows?
4. How low is it set though? The 37hz just sucks up power really unless you are playing dub step!
5. I would get one and another neoxT cab if I had a gig that required 4x12 on stage,I like them alot
6. Don't forget that all sr5s except the classic have a selector switch for parallel, series and single coil modes compared to a standard SR4
7.
I wish one of you could come to a gig in the Huddersfield area and have a listen! I guess I need to do a bit of a/bing between different basses, cabs and amps to try and see where the weak link is, if indeed there is one. It might just be me.....
Does the stream liner have the shelving like the shuttle? If it doesn't then any frequencies below about 40hz are just soaking up power without you hearing anything, you might even be able to roll the bass off without hearing much change in tone but find you have loads more headroom. The shuttles run at 80hz without the low boost engaged which drops it to 37hz from memory, even with a low B I only drop the shelf for a couple of songs (feel good inc ,the slow morcheba version).
8. Also nearly forgot, almost every single one if my favourite players uses a P bass and I usually like to hear them being played at local gigs, give me one in a live mix and I hate it every time, I'm not alone in this, your current bass will also play nicer than most P basses too. I like a ray or a P neck but I don't think they play better than most good Ibanez or Yamaha basses. See I have all the wrong gear on paper
9. Sold my last four string bass a few Weeks ago, I won't be going back Another plus one for any of the lakland basses really, some great usable tones in all the ones I have tried, don't rule out a 55-02 without trying one as from your description of your bands they will fit in nicely and you can often pick them up on here, very very nice basses IMO , good luck and enjoy it what ever you choose. Ps have you heard a stingray with flats in a country rock setting? Delicious
10.
I would make up a serial cable, so it'd be driving 8 ohms. It's less power output, but it would still be moving a lot more air. No replacement for displacement!
That's a good plan
11. Molan will be back every few days with his cryptic hypothetical posts to keep it bumping along anyway
12. Ah my old p bass! Well the body and bridge? Looks ace and Mart is a top chap, deal with confidence folks.
13. As for another cab can the streamliner do 2ohms? I always fancy trying two neoxT cabs with the twin output 12.0 head, 600watts into each. A shuttle and streamliner 18.2 with two of the 900watt modules with either 2 2x12 cabs or 4 4x10 cabs would be a killer rig if they made such a head!
14. If the output stage is the same as the shuttle 600 it must be an eq thing, I have a 3.0 , a 6.0 and a 9.2 max with the same cab, even the 3.0 can run at full gig volume if needed.
15. Loving this thread, hopefully get some shots of Dolly (the gedo) on soon and maybe get a new hat to celebrate? We could have a hats thread too, my Vans cap was from the Vans store in San Francisco which is pretty cool in itself imo
16. Ok i'll play but a more serious question, do you regret selling your bass collection Fran? I had a trans green sb320 and sold it, wish I still had it!
17.
...perhaps Tim could put a hat on the bass ...sorry Pete couldn't resist ( by the way you look 'a million [s]dollars[/s] pounds' in the other thread )
Everyone loves a hat!
18. Lets not forget you have also been caught out lying about owning them from new before we too matey, I'm happy to give anyone a second chance though.
19.
16 Pages about a worn handle? I thought it was a major scare and lives were being lost!! Handles - Mine have worn a bit over the 18 months I've had my S12 but, until it fails, not bothered. Thanks for the option Alex. And the slating BF is getting is beyond belief and totally unjustified in my opinion ... do any other companies come in for this amount? Unreal! A small British company making a really brilliant range of products - that the faithful that bought them are, in the highest majority, more than happy with (me included!), great customer service and an enthusiasm that I've never come across before in any industry - backing up there claims too? Who would have thought it! Jeez! I bought my S12 blind, not hearing one before, just what I'd read on BC and a few emails to Alex - I'm so glad I did - I just hope some of the comments and digs I've just read don't deter anyone from making the move I did. My S12 is the best piece of gear I've ever bought. Taters to the haters! BF4EVA! Too hard to handle?
Can you point us to the slating? all I have read is factual info regarding waiting times and times from final payment to shipping or opinions from people who have tried them yet disliked them, is that slating?
20. Ha great user name welcome and lets see some evidence in the pictures that you own it please anything really a 50p pence for example, Thanks
