1. People get upset about remarks about guitarists yet we have all met so many that do these things to earn the reputation, just like drummers that never stop f***ing drumming between songs etc!
2. Ok folks my action is set at about 7mm on the G rising to 10mm on the E, my bridge is adjustable but its set as low as possible, I have spirocore weichs but its still quite hard work compared to my stagg with the same strings fitted. Should I shave a bit off the bridge and if so does the material need to be removed from the bridge or the feet? (not the bottom of the feet, I know), and what height should I go for, I'm playing all sorts from moondance (sorry) to bill haley numbers, thanks in advance as ever
3. Not really because we still chuck sex on fire in at the end like everyone else
4. Bargain, get a pre eb one instead?
5.
Oh , yeah ? Try playing death metal ragga hip hop fusion on one and you will find it sorely lacking in certain areas .
We only play new age southern bluegrass death metal ragga hip hop rather than fusion so its not an issue
6. That buttercream is epic, I'd have a tort guard on it myself but that is easy and a personal thing.
7. I want to buy my old teal stingray back but I don't know who has it? I'm thinking that if I wait long enough Marcus will own it at some point and I can jump in and get it back!
8.
Could I not interest sir in a little "I told you so"?
Go on then, told you so! They are just proper basses that cover all genres IMO.
9. I'm saying nothing
10. What a great clip! We played rock around the clock on saturday as a tribute to the recently departed comet bassist
11. Stingray-Shuttlemax-2x12 cab=
12. Btw I have the same amp as the OP, brilliant they are!
13. I always go for pre on the di and leave my bass eq controls alone once we are playing other than cutting some treble on my bass if I'm using a pick, saves the sound engineer constantly having to adjust his end anyway. If it's a marquee I also tend to go for a sound that cuts through for me to hear rather than what I would consider a good bass sound from my rig, hopefully the sound engineer has mixed me a juicy sound out front from my fairly flat pre eq stingray signal
14.
Let me know when you are down this way... we are pretty busy over the summer.
No website or anything?
15.
....then comes the really hard bit; playing well with other musicians.
Get that nailed and you can begin learning to slap!
16. I have been playing guitar/bass for 26 years (bass as my first instrument for 20+) I have had lessons off our very own doddy, he has lessons off Yanek Gwizdala, Yanek has lessons off someone else.
17.
SPL = Sue Pub Landlord
She's nice isn't she, always does a plate of sandwiches and a few chips when play there.
18.
Hurrumph...

A statement that doesn't even come close to being a sweeping generalisation in that it is so wrong, it's actually embarrassing to read.
JTUK often tells us tales of these terrible bands but we never get to see his
19.
Yeah - it's usually the drummer.
I said musicians
20.
But.... if you see local bands the bass is more than likely going to be the weakest... either from a technical point of view or they don't know what the EQ section does or even what the notes are on the bass and what constitutes a scale or chord.
We must be lucky as we have some great musicians including bassists in our local bands, its about time you put up a few links to your work as your so critical all the time without us seeing the goods
21. Yolanda is John Hall in disguise!
22.
Went to a rehearsal this evening and started playing, and realised that the skunk stripe on the back of the neck has raised proud of the surface. really not sure weather this is a major issue other than feeling it. has anyone else had this.. it has not affected the playability of the bass, no buzzing etc. just wondered if this might get worse in any way.? it is only raised in one area of about 2 inches. still worries me to be honest.
You don't sound like you have as much faith in the local guys advice before? Could you try loosening the rod off completley, if the skunk stripe moves back in under thumb pressure then its clearly being pushed out by the rod and needs fixing?
23. I don't think so mate, I think it bends backwards in the centre under tension either against the skunk stripe near the middle or finger board towards the ends. I'm afraid I'm with Rich, goosed
