1.
Yeah - it's usually the drummer.
I said musicians
2.
But.... if you see local bands the bass is more than likely going to be the weakest... either from a technical point of view or they don't know what the EQ section does or even what the notes are on the bass and what constitutes a scale or chord.
We must be lucky as we have some great musicians including bassists in our local bands, its about time you put up a few links to your work as your so critical all the time without us seeing the goods
3. Yolanda is John Hall in disguise!
4.
Went to a rehearsal this evening and started playing, and realised that the skunk stripe on the back of the neck has raised proud of the surface. really not sure weather this is a major issue other than feeling it. has anyone else had this.. it has not affected the playability of the bass, no buzzing etc. just wondered if this might get worse in any way.? it is only raised in one area of about 2 inches. still worries me to be honest.
You don't sound like you have as much faith in the local guys advice before? Could you try loosening the rod off completley, if the skunk stripe moves back in under thumb pressure then its clearly being pushed out by the rod and needs fixing?
5. I don't think so mate, I think it bends backwards in the centre under tension either against the skunk stripe near the middle or finger board towards the ends. I'm afraid I'm with Rich, goosed
6. Drop it in from the front and it acts against the finger board?
7. We can argue the toss over exact makes and models but I really think 12's are where its at these days, 1 for the dog and ferret, 2 for decent stages or marquees etc, 4 or 8 for knebworth
8. Surely the truss rod acts against the skunk stripe?
9. Arrgh that's a steal, if any banks get done over in the Staffordshire area tomorrow it isnt me, right
10.
Check your super secret PMs
The eagle has landed very nice too.
11. Hey Yolanda, really enjoyed your set at the Manchester bass day a few years ago! Now your giving me ideas about a Mayones bass too
12. Behind the bike shed at home time
13.
Why not get a 5-string Ric then?
I only like the look of the 4001 ?? what is there available as a Ric 5'er? Do the still have all the stuff I hate about regular ones?
14.
You'd like my new toy then.
Pics via pm if required then
15. I'd never play it, it would stop me being able to look at it! Glass case above the fire place
16. I have constant gas for a ric, always have had, right up to the point I pick one up! The gas goes for a week or two then returns again, my lack of interest in none fivers has kept it at bay for a good while now though
17.
Yup... I'll second the Thomann vote. Got my first (budget) upright from them.. and apart from the strings (got Innovations on it now ) its a great instrument for the money. And their after market sales are superb. Send it back and get a Thomann would be my advice.
Thomann have just the same issues as seen in the original thread, both companies have been superb everytime anyone has dealt with them so its six and two threes imo, makes a change to try and decide which one is better at being really good!
18. 2 eq rays are the way forward, classic 5 will be my next purchase! Funky
19. Most landlords will get in a mood as soon as they see it, get a 1x12
20.
why not send it back? if this has happened surely it indicates inferior workmanship, youmay fix this now , be happy for a few months and something else will go wrong.
To be fair this looks like a one off from a selection of basses from the company and they offered a choice of repair options to the op, from the service we have all had from Gedo I'm sure if a different problem arises in a few months they will sort it anyway
21. I sanded my neck down including the edges of the board anyway, playing it for twenty years should do the job
22. I have three genz amps and I prefer the FET on the ShuttleMax 9.2, love it, mind you both channels blended together has got some poke!
23. I'd try and put something in the listing to get anyone looking for a cool display piece to find it, fancy cafe or cocktail bar etc?
