1. Just played along to the youtube clip for tonights double bass practice
2. I'm tempted to sell the lot and buy either a Modulus funk5, Lakland 55-02(proper usa one) or a Stingray classic5. Spend the rest on something else, car maybe.
3. Ah the old bridge falling forward problem, karate chop! You might have to redo the top of that bridge then if its been slotted too deep or do you think you can raise that end a bit without raising the other strings too much? Also are the f holes in the centre of the bridge feet?
4. The joys of DB I would say dont change the strings unless you are buying it so start with the adjustable bridge. The string wont of got lower unless the tuning has dropped by quite a bit, is it in tune? If it is could the front of the bass or neck be unstable? If you are going to adjust the bridge I would say two things from my own limited experience so far, put some masking tape to mark exactly where the bridge is before loosening the string tension, it is amazing how easy it is to move it without getting it to seat correctly afterwards! the second thing would be dont remove the strings at all just loosen them enough so as you can raise the bridge, at least if it does fall to bits you will have the marks for the feet and the strings under some tension enough to stand it up and get it roughly in one piece I'm not sure if its right or not but as a rough guide reading other threads I have got mine set with 7.5mm from the underside of the G string to the fingerboard at the end of the fingerboard, rises up to 10mm for the E string roughly. I am tempted to take them all a tad lower but I have the opposite problem in as much as I need to remove a bit of the bridge as my adjusters are right down, I wanted to wait until I was sure the wood has settled as it is a brand new Gedo bass.
5. I'd get two 8 ohm 2x12 cabs if I needed to, btw I love my 9.2 max head
6. No notch as such on the platinum pro but it looks like the bass control and depth knob interact in some way for a similar outcome.
7.
Thanks for the advice chaps, on closer inspection, the duracels were not exactly the same (maybe one was a fake). Anyways I had a good look inside the Nun's chuff and noticed one of the tabs wasn't springing all the way back, so released it and all was good for the gig on Sunday.
8. I think I want a funk5? Can we see a picture of it just for the pornographic nature!?
9.
Are you trying to re-invent the wheel? P.S. - This is just another sad excuse for me to show my Sandberg around,
I like that!
10. Oh I see, I thought you were suggesting it was an unseen internet purchase and the good luck was sarcastic
11. blimey that is light! my black one can alter the moons orbit
12. Looks simple enough.......I will return once I have tried it
13. Oh no it is not idiot proof is it? we will see about that!
14. OK my little fountain of knowledge here I am again! I have just purchased a plat pro from our very own Timo it should be here fairly soon but until its here obviously I cant try it but can you nice people tell me what your starting point settings would be so I can get a head start when it arrives, I have a half carved bass with a cheap J tone pickup (two black slot mounted piezo one) if that helps? Thanks
15.
BUY IT NOW + AIR MAIL... Goodluck!
Did you read the OP?
16. SUB in the for sale section right now only £300
17. I'd try and keep the stagg though, much easier for live gigs where the visuals are less important, people love my stagg at gigs!
18.
Pics as requested Spanish Cedar Body / Maple top Maple Neck/ Pau Ferro Board[
Nice
19. Still sounds like a jazz to me......
20. I did a gig last night and really needed a stand as there was no corner to put it in, I like the idea of the homemade ones made from a snare drum stand with the top half removed. As for playing while in the stand I don't think its such a good idea plus I like to move about a bit if I can, it took me a while to get the right spot for the body arm but now I can get comfy right away, are you standing properly? Left leg in front like you are fencing, end pin moved away so the bass leans into you, nut set just above your eyebrow.
21. Those nuns chuffs are very distracting!
