I'd go for a used SUB over a new Sterling by musicman or the new entry level sub although a new sub with a john east preamp could be intresting?

[/quote] I know what your saying and my do they look cool but all the ones I have tried had poorly fitting finger boards, neck dive issues and sharp poorly finished hardware, the body edge digs into my arm and the pup cover limits playability, all that combined is why I don't own one. I love Gibson thunderbirds but I have never got a sound I felt useable for what I do out of one so I have never bought one of them either

From the rickys I have tried making a model with a lesser standard of quality won't be an option, my £150 squier jazz has a better neck and finger board finish than any proper rick I have ever tried (quite a few). As we all know a Cort factory built version would almost certainly end up better than its full fat version, sure the rick fans will dispute that but the majority of bass players I know would agree.

I must admit I have never tried to inspect a Nun's chuff but that is good to know if the situation ever arises, best to be prepared

My pops was in a little pocket of the gig bag, I did not find it for a while, I'm organising some lessons soon so it will be out and about a bit more but I think I will be using the stagg for most of my function band gigs.

I know what you mean but everyone who has seen mine loved it, very classic rather than rockabilly! Did you go for the exact same one based on my order with spirocores and adjustable bridge? Pops and a german bow too?

The run up through the C# D E octaves sounds tasty imo, glad its not just me, maybe if we had a synth player who was handling the lower register it would be ok without the erb but as we don't it wouldn't be in our set on a standard tuned 4, the version in my link plays across and up and down the neck too so not really an option for a B bass either.

I struggle to get a good sound without adding more knobs to twiddle, I really am terrible!

I have had the odd battery that was tighter than a nuns chuff for the EBMM holders too, also it might be worth extracting the whole thing carefully and bend the little tabs back up if they have become stuck in a position where they are not pressing against the battery terminals properly, give them a good clean and look for any loose connections at the same time obviously.

I downloaded the version from here [url="http://cocosbassment.com/"]http://cocosbassment.com/[/url] but it goes down lower than D, the trouble with that song is the fact there isn't actually any bass on it so you just have to do what you can IMO, I cant recall seeing anyone try any do the funny bit at the start though, surely a keys players job if at all? Nice to play a song containing an E# though

Well it will stop anyone saying he should of gone to thomann if nothing else! Tricky one with such a big item maybe if you are happy to glue it and they offer you a decent part refund?

Ahhhh! I'm sure they will sort this out but that sucks, everyone else has had no issues at all afaik, not with anything.

My dream amp for our resident boffins to invent then, two knobs on the front 'volume' 'tone', if somehow the amp could bounce a signal around the room to measure the awkward frequencys then the user selects a choice of preset tones (like a V bass pod thing), amp pig, gashdown, my shell, mike bass etc then adjust the volume to suit
