1. If there was a 'correct' setting the amp would not need any knobs!
2. She was what 12 or 13 when they started? People moan about selling out yet I wonder what they or their children were doing at that age!
3. On a serious note for a moment if this is upheld then basschat would have to ban; SX Vintage Encore Tokai Sue Ryder Westfield Alleva Copola Shuker Overwater Sadowsky Avon Stagg What will we have left to talk about?
4. I'd agree with others that we should not discuss the products at all, before anyone calls me an ebmm fan boi I was one of the people annoyed that the ebmm thread about bad fret slots was pulled by request rather than just cleared up. Sure I'm not saying basschat should commision a fake ricky but banning images or private members selling basses......jeez.
5.
...to selling a Kingbass?
I was going to post something similar (I guess we all were) , I resisted!
6. Not with green leds......
7.
I don't usually like red basses but that I liked and solid playing and good singing in the videos!
Me and ebs _freak both said that earlier! Looks good don't it and yes nice player too.
8.
Mrs2611 and I quite like their dulcet tones...never heard them before
They have some great pop/rock songs have a listen to some others on you tube
9.
Circuit breakers wont help. The stage needs it's own earthing point as close to the stage as humanly possible. The Rule of thumb is Every 10 meters of wire away from the earthing point and the risk of electrocution trebles. If the earthing point is at the other end of the lead which is 50+ meters away and round the pubs mains board to the cold water pipe. You are as good as dead if any type of rain or short causes problems Any rcd you use can only measure leakage to a bonded earth point so wont trip if the path is via you direct to earth. A moderately competent electrician can install an earth point at the stage rigged in to the power supply stage end , or use a generator that is earthed. If the only source is a very long extension lead with the earthing point at the other end then if there is any, even remote chance of damp or rain I would suggest you do not play. These things do tend to be make do and hope for the best. Fatalities are not uncommon when no direct earthing point exists, electricity will take the shortest route to earth and if that is via you as opposed to down the other end of a long extension then it will, it is physics and many a person has won a darwin award from 240v 30 amp ring mains. If it is not a generator installed by a compliant person I would insist on an electrician certifying the power supply . You dont get a second chance with this sh*t !
This is totally false, I dont want to get into another basschat electrical debate but its not true at all, any leakage (probably 30mA in this case) anywhere other than back through the RCD unit will result in a trip and should be within 200ms but will normally be less than that, worst I have seen was about 57ms. Unless you know what you are doing adding earth stakes etc can make things worse, even a poor TNC-S supply with up to 3 extension reels will give a few Ohms on an earth loop test, 50-100 maybe worst case with enough voltage left to actually power anything which is very poor really, yet a decent stake would be 200+ at best and more like 500+ in a field miles from anywhere
10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRWrDNo0uqE&list=RD02qaN_TPceHAU Gives me Gibson Gripper/Grabber gas and Hayley gas obviously but Im too old and bald to get that, much more chance of a yob Grabber at some point but will I ever use it? sounds good here too... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaN_TPceHAU love her vocals.
11. I have the black double £35, it works, other than that I dont really know waiting to get a plat pro preamp before I do anymore fiddling.
12. Good plan, £16! I didnt know such things existed.
13. I had that problem fitting 3/4 strings to my stagg, ended up drilling the tailpiece and unwinding some silk to get them to fit. Also I wasn't sure what it would do to the tension if I just fitted weich 4/4 strings instead thinking maybe mittels would then be better. The problem with the stagg is that there is more string behind the bridge than a regular db, do you have the same problem? 4/4 strings trimmed down I'd say is your answer. Type is for the experts!
14. If it left gedo last week I think it will come monday or tuesday!
15.
:-) You've just eliminated from my consideration any basses you may happen to advertise on here! :-) CB
Only my pre eb has a sealed neck and that's a keeper, all the ebmm basses are hand buffed so to speak.
16. I won't say where the method came from but trust me they know how to build basses
17. I'm not suggesting anyone put grooves or grip tape on the neck, I'm talking 1200-2000 grade wet and dry.
18. Try sliding a finger over a gloss wall tile, then a satin one. The squeek of clean glass is the grip grabbing and slipping.Anyone who has worked in a body shop will tell you a gloss finish has more grip than a satin one. Think of a tyre, the grippy race ones are slick, treaded tyres have less contact area hence less grip unless its wet because the tread removes water leaving less contact than a slick in the dry but much more than a slick with a layer of water between it and the tarmac. Make sense?
19. The satin finish develops the perfect feel for me over time
20. I think you can get a matte finish to shine to the right amount but a super gloss finish grips unless you flat it off a tad.
21.
Why not? Surely the fact that the neck matches the rest of the instrument makes it look better?
I like the look but prefer the feel of an unfinished neck, if I had a painted neck I would sand the gloss off it anyway.
22. I'm not keen on painted necks, matching headstock looks cool though.
23.
I don't understand what you are saying.
I won't bother trying as it will only derail the thread again!
24. Ok serious answer then and you might still not like it be warned...all the images I have seen of Leo building prototype basses involve him sitting with a bass fitted with a sliding pickup in wooden rails, where it sounded best the factory models got them By changing the scale of the bass by two inches or more I'd think it would totally change the inherent tone so the sweet spot (invented by Leo and blocks of wood) could be the same/nearer the neck/nearer the bridge or lost forever
25. Lots of people drive drunk, uninsured, with bald tyres etc its all good until it goes wrong. If you are in a pro band then you could ask for the venues certs etc, I'm sure big shows must have people who have to get documents signed to say the venue will be safe for their acts and the acts fans. If you are asking for the right reasons that's cool if you are doing it to be a pedant or because you have failed to provide what the venue asked you to bring on the night be prepared to either not play or look a cock when the venue produces a copy of all their certs.
