1. Real musicians would not of found a piece of paper or a pen between them anyway +1 on having a go though, its only a matter of time before I have to take the plunge for some DB gigs and any confidence I have in my electric bass skills will be lost on DB Also you never know with these things they might want you after they see the others and turn out to be less of a bunch of cocks than they sound but just wanted to see if you would crack or not?
2. FWIW I have never been offered/asked to take less than the full share divided equally between the number of band members after expenses (PA hire and fuel), even if some of them have been as low as £25
3. Im always torn on this, on one hand the dep is getting them out of a whole and if the dep is good and the band still sound the same then part of me says the dep should get an equal split for being able to fill the slot, on the other hand the dep does not pay for their share of expensive items such as the PA and lighting rigs etc so maybe a small cut should be taken back for that? In my own head then if the gig is £600 and you have saved the day and played well etc then I would be happy to take the full £150 if it was a 4 piece band but maybe still happy to do it for as little as £100-125 if it was local etc and a one off, if it was regular then them £50s will start to stack up and they are getting a bass player worth the extra if the gigs are still coming in.
4. Its a lump of wood with strings held across it under tension just like all other string instruments.
5. I'm sorry but I don't understand why you gave a price at all?
6. For me clank is never something I associate with a pick, nor is Flea?
7.
Get a Stingray. Boom.
I don't understand why this wasn't post number two? Seriously I can't help but clank on any stingray, can be annoying for some recording duties but I have a jazz for those rare occasions.
8. Headstock thing is normal and my necks are filthy, I use wire wool now and again to clean them
9. I find ebmm strings do work well on ebmm basses, I used to have the pink 40-125 but I have switched up to the green 45-130 for a tighter B string. if you message ebmm they well tell you what date it was built and the original spec
10. How can we as musicians slag off simon cowell and all the reality nonsense then diregard a band if the bass player wears glasses?!
11. I would of agreed to do the gig then not turned up, bunch of egotistical bell ends!
12. You can't see them anyway and I'm bald! The joy of not constanly pushing my glasses up my nose during gigs or even just when its warm out is worth a million pound.
13.
...oo! http://www.wedgees.com/
Thats 'em but I found some on ebay, looks like quite a few people have found out about them as they only have the grey ones left! 14.
I'd never come across these. I generally don't wear my specs simply because of the sliding-down-sweaty-nose issue, so these look ideal - thanks! The question is will they stop the other problem of my glasses flying off and hitting the drummer when I fling my head back in moments of wild enthusiasm?
They really do work and I'm not involved with the company in any way, I wear them at work in the building trade and under cars etc as my other hobby, excellent!
15.
Presumably, they would rather you buy new glasses rather than something to make your current glasses more wearable.
Well I know I will be buying a new pair every time I have new glasses or these wear out so if they sold then at the counter that would be £5 for two bits of neoprene every time!
16.
Both myself and the guitarist need glasses to see. I can play fine without them but I can't see the information on the digi desk window so.. Thanks to Stingray Pete we both acquired Wedgees and the dreaded noseslip is a thing of the past. It was good enough for Holly and Costello.
Wedgees are brilliant aren't they?! I don't understand why they are not more widely available, as far as I know vision express and three other big stores don't sell them?
17. Mine used to slip down all night, drove me mad. I have got wedgees on all mine now, brilliant!
