1.
Some players like to get down below the bottom E, so a fiver fits there. Others like to get up into guitar territory or play chords, so a sixer fits there. Some others don't want the low B but like the idea of chords and notes above a G, so a fiver tuned EADGC fits there.
I don't do any of those thing very often but I do play across the board making things easier and also can play songs in different keys much easier if playing with different bands playing the same songs but in different keys.
 2. Oh and yes five is better usually played by better players
 3. I once posted this question so don't be too harsh on him
 4.
IMO if you make it to the end of the first bar then you should press on to the end.
I do agree unless its a key change balls up that can't be hidden or a guitar so far out of tune its painful.
 5.
If you make a pigs bollock of the 1st 10 seconds, by all means, call a halt and start again, make a joke of it, but once you're in and going then keep going to the end, I've switched guitars mid verse after a string break and nobody noticed, except the bass player, who looked over and wondered how my strat turned into an SG. Drawing attention to your mistakes draws attention to them, people won't notice if you don't tell them.
I agree, if you do lots of covers with more than one band and in different keys in think its fair to start in the wrong key and have to have a rewind as the OP calls it, if you are generally good for the rest of the set its ok and a good front person should be able to lighten the mood! As long as its not every other song though.
 6.
Too many strings?
No they come with the correct amount, I can't see anywhere to attach another?
 7.
+1 This paired with my stingray 5 is musical nirvana :-)
Why would anyone use anything else?
 8.
Focus' are great! As many here have said, they're surprisingly spacious. I've had 2 rcf 310's with stands, a 24 channel mixing desk, mark bass 210, Aguilar head, cables, lights, bass and a drum kit! I love mine, though when I get the money saved up I might get a 1.6 diesel version. Has any one here got one? What are the engines like for reliability and efficiency? Dan
Mine is a 1.6 diesel but in zetec spec, best of everything IMO. Getting more and more to the gallon as the cold weather is finally going a bit, 52mpg last time I looked and that's all short runs, £30 to tax, cheap to insure compared to similar spec cars. I gather a lot of the problems noted are down to people trying to service them on a budget which ruins them!
 9.
Didn't want to ask earlier, but I did think it was you. Something about that login name pinknailsPete1977. best, bert
I was thinking about painting them pearl blue to match my stingray?
 10.
I'll see your Harley and raise you a Hofner...
I will see both the hofner and the Harley and raise you both a Gedo!
 11.
Freebird would be far easier than picking up golf or football I know we all learnt it at some point, but is there anythng hard about it...??
But I am not on golfchat or footchat (OK so i might be on that one but its not about football!) so I would not have hear the whinging about being crap
 12.
time for me to pick up double bass
Get a Stagg
 13.
So - they're not repeated threads; they're cover versions?
Ha I guess so
 14. I have done originals on the pub scene for a couple of years, its hard work imo. Two 1 hour sets of known songs will get you booked back every few months and the audience will be much more 'up for it' too. Ok the old backroom 3 bands a night gig might have a more open minded audience but in the usual dog and gun playing your own songs with someone shouting for sex on fire between each song will boil your piss
 15. To be fair if you can't play freebird in four years time I'd probably have a look at golf clubs or football boots
 16. Some people forget what it is like to learn a new skill, I am new to double bass and have asked lots of what may appear to be stupid questions, some answers were obvious once I had been given some advice. Thankfully the same old people comparing penis size don't tend to frequent that area of the forum
 17.
i've played through all sorts of sh*t without a buffet.
No buffet no music!
 18. This makes me think of Vic and Bob and "you just wouldn't let it lye" What's the fuss with repeated threads, who cares, we don't have to pay per thread or anything!
Ahaa, well done for spotting that commonly used and gutless tactic so early in your time here! It's a fairly regular occurrence, usually employed by those who have realised they're wrong in what they're arguing but lack the appendages to openly admit it.
19.
Bang on. Talking of which... bring on the pie. I can't wait...
Too right,I will ring you when I'm near home.
 20. I'd play through any old sh*t as long as there is a buffet
