1. You missed the deleted thread then?
2. Fret markers in the wrong place will add to the fun!
3.
Good questions. Despite the temptations of versatility, I seem to get on better with really simple instruments. 4 strings, one pickup, a tone control and everything else is either in your hands or just not there. That seems to work best for me.
A two eq stingray is worth trying, you never know you might love it! Single pickup and simple controls, classic bass that has been used in every style of music, in budget too
4. Last time someone dared question the ebmm build quality the thread was deleted!
5. Go on then will it be like Qi if it say "why" nee naw nee naw! Why passive why only one pickup? How many strings? 5 being the correct answer btw : lol:
6. It's crazy,I first saw it when looking for upright clips. As soon as I started on the double bass my respect for the good players went through the roof.
7. My upright still isn't loud enough without plugging the piezo in, I am getting a bit more volume now I'm trying to play with the side of my finger rather than the tips, probably best to not hear me anyway!
8. I have an Ozark, its good and I use a 1x10 cab with it for acoustic jams or into the pa if possible, no hollow sound at all and I think they are great for learning how to get different sounds, playing near the bridge can get quite a jazz bass esque sound for example. Very handy for practicing in the garden in the summer (both weeks of it in may).
9. I'd swerve the whole lot and buy a modulus funk5
10. I can't beleive there has been 18 pages of this sh*t!
11. After all my messing around I think I prefer my ceramic equipped SR5 now, the cheapest most messed with Ray I have owned is my go to bass now! Looking forward to pics of the new bass
12.
So someone drilled new holes for the Badass? That seems ... unclever, unless I'm missing something here.
If you move the whole bridge forward you can use more of its intonation adjustment I think? The first Stingrays suffer from this and the bridge was moved forward soon after to solve it, even Leo made mistakes!
13. Yes that's pre eb, no fret marker on the 21 st fret, Leo's trade mark. You can see the slab body too and the skunk stripe although some ebmm versions do have a stripe.
14. I have struggled to find any clips of him using his pre EB Ray on you tube, anyone got any links? He has Stingray-esque sounding fingers to me, lovely sort of attack in short bursts.
15. He does like to swap his gear about doesn't he! I have not seen him on a Ray5 did he ever use one? every clip of him these days he has some kind of modern 5er, I guess its artists like Nate that could of put Musicman/ebmm into the big time if they had of gone for endorsements earlier? A Flea sig 1991 black Ray4 would still be a collectable bass now if it had been made (and Sterling Ball must know it!) Nate Watts Sig Classic4/5 would of been cool too.
16.
I love this clip. Mistakes and all..... https://www.youtube....h?v=hl-bVs1INtY
Looks like he could do it in his sleep, crazy Also another great reason for 5 strings clip.
17. Pics of him playing it or he is a faker then!?
