1. Stands a good chance
2. Yes that's pre eb, no fret marker on the 21 st fret, Leo's trade mark. You can see the slab body too and the skunk stripe although some ebmm versions do have a stripe.
3. I have struggled to find any clips of him using his pre EB Ray on you tube, anyone got any links? He has Stingray-esque sounding fingers to me, lovely sort of attack in short bursts.
4. He does like to swap his gear about doesn't he! I have not seen him on a Ray5 did he ever use one? every clip of him these days he has some kind of modern 5er, I guess its artists like Nate that could of put Musicman/ebmm into the big time if they had of gone for endorsements earlier? A Flea sig 1991 black Ray4 would still be a collectable bass now if it had been made (and Sterling Ball must know it!) Nate Watts Sig Classic4/5 would of been cool too.
5.
I love this clip. Mistakes and all..... https://www.youtube....h?v=hl-bVs1INtY
Looks like he could do it in his sleep, crazy Also another great reason for 5 strings clip.
6. I love them high notes, brilliant!
7. Pics of him playing it or he is a faker then!?
8. Do they make one in an adult size?
9. He might be new favourite you know, How does he make such small alterations to a line sound so different? Master blaster has 8 bars to the looped verse bass line, he only changes a pair of 8th notes to a triplet on the 3rd bar the second time round and it just works!
10. I would keep one of the 2x12s for sure
11. New finacial year brings with it new prices, old stock can probably be sold at the old price?
12. Just Nathan Watts, What more can you say? Jeez
13. If you ever find yourself up a creek you will be laughing!
14. Devour the site Lynottfan has linked mate The one I sold andytoad was a bargain, I doubt another one will come up for that money anytime soon it also sounded epic!
15. No one has ever learnt to play an instrument, we are all just at different points along the way to getter nearer, even the best players in the world will have a weakness somewhere. Interesting example in what Clarky said before is that I have found some jazzers or classic players might struggle to pull off a convincing Ramones style, that statement applies for all genres in all directions and only the very best players in the world could nail every style imo. Certainly not me that's for sure
16. Oooh I will check! I know it makes a nice noise when I brush it past the corner of or bed.
17. Ok let's leave it at that then, ps2
18.
Yep. I had CTS at 18! Completely gone now
There must be a w***ers cramp joke in there somewhere
19. We have both the Jam nights where it really is a jam, put your name down for bass and get thrown on with who ever to play something (I like these) and we also have ones similar to that in the advert where it is more of a showcase 3 or 4 songs by set groups. If you have 20-30 people waiting to have a jam then I find it hard to watch one person take up 20 mins on their own as a solo artist, there are plenty of open mics more suitable for folky one at a time performers IMO. I lost interest with proper jams after every one I have been too usually involves the idea that each regular bassist brings their amp every say 5-6 weeks, I have no issue with that but it normally turned out my week most weeks as the others were "stuck at work" "ill" "running late" etc but always managed to get there about 30 mins after all my gear was setup. The last local jam someone started and I agreed to the 1 in 6 week idea I think I did 4 weeks then the jam folded anyway! Back OT what I was getting at is that if someone is going to setup the whole thing other than your bass/guitar/drum sticks and vocal chords I can see what an arse that would be every week/month.
20. I have measured both the Stagg and my DB and the stagg has approx 10cm extra length behind the bridge, the scale length is about 5-6mm longer than the regular upright. Thinking out loud here then, so if you fit 4/4 strings designed to be weichs to the stagg the shorter scale length will make the strings floppier than the manufacturers intended so a set of 4/4 starks might give something more like a medium tension and mittels more of a weich tension, weichs then not being suitable. I have 3/4 weichs and they work well, lighther to play than my DB but not flappy or rattling etc. Hope that makes sense?
21. I thought about cutting a square of wood off the bridge to just move it up about 10mm and only need to countersink the ball ends by about the same thus leaving plenty of wood. If you made a new block then it would be easy enough to just drill the holes at a slight angle so the strings exit at the same angle as the factory spec one. TBF once its done most people are talking about 10 years for a set of Spiros anyway
22. I will have a measure tomorrow and see what's what.
23. Well I presume you will need 4/4 strings in any brand unless you want to do the alteration I did, putting 4/4 strings on will obviously muck the desired tensions around so it might be worth drilling the block out, once it's done you can fit anything then.
24. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/196792-spiros-too-short-l130-wasted/page__fromsearch__1 Here you go, I have since tidied up the frayed silks with some clear nail varnish.
