2.
I was once in a band where the keyboard player played all the songs in C!! The keyboard could transpose keys so he moved them all to C whatever the key. Not sure why as he was quite capable of playing in any key.
I dont know why we dont just make all songs in C?
 3.
I guess that's the origin of best before dates and use by dates.
That only works if you decide that the sandwich would last say 4 weeks in the freezer then put a date 4 weeks in advance, any you make after you know will last longer and can be dated as such, these were all made on the same day
 4. Where you happy with the bass before and indeed after? Did you research what others were fetching?
 5. Good reason for the fiver then! I'd like to see someone play it on a four.
 6. Have you put the foam behind the strings near the tail piece?
 7.
Well done Pete. That's the power of the upright. I've never been short of work in (whisper it softly) 50 years. Enjoy!
The guy really wanted an acoustic DB but is happy to give it a go, I think mine sounds pretty good with its Spirocores on and the mods done All in good time, If I had somewhere to put one I would be tempted to sell my black pre EB to fund one, I still love that Framus cutaway in the FS section
 8.
This is great news Pete. Been reading your 'just bought a EUB' thread and i'm tempted to give one a go myself. Never had either a DB or an EUB in my sticky paws before but seriously tempted. Best of luck with the demo
Do it mate you will love it, took me no time to get a tune out of it after that well the learning curve is a steep as you want it to be!
 9. To top it off you are going to tell us they have a keys player and all the songs are in C which is what he has the gadget set to anyway? My dad had a mate at school whos mom hated making sandwiches so used to make them all at the start of the month then freeze them (fair enough not for me but ok) she used to label everyones sandwich and the date they were for with little labels which took hours, but they were all made on the same day so the date was pointless and even better they were all cheese and tomato!
 10.
Ive got a Squier Jazz 5 string. I didn't want to spend too much in case I didnt like it, so I opted for the cheap alternative. I have to say, the Squier has a surprisingly good sound. Trouble is, our set doesn't have that many songs where a 5 would be suitable, so I havent given it the attention I could have. One thing I hate is 5's being used when the song doesn't suit it. I mean classic rock songs just dont go that low .Some people throw in low notes just cos they can. We dont play any modern metal or funk where the 5 would be justified. I really need to spend more time on it right enough and maybe suggest some songs that would suit it. I still find it quite weird having a lower string than the E where I spend most of my time
You need to think of it all different, the problem is all the songs you know are ingrained playing off the E string rather than the E on the B string, In the function band I rarely use the extra notes but lots of riffs are easier across the board
 11.
5 string basses have been around for a while now-I have wondered why we do not have a 5string bass hero? Is there things you can play on a 5 string that you cant play on a 4?
Try Aint Nobody by Chaka Khan on a 4 string, hard enough on 5 (I presume it was recorded on a 4 though? Cant might be wrong but dropping to Low B and getting it to sound like the record then getting the octaves on what would be the G string on a five now half way up the neck would be beyond many me included
 12. Ha what you like! The term session is probably a bit too posh really but we will see......
 13.
It's not being pedantic. My example was that everyone knows what notes you mean and it's not worth having a long discussion in the practice studio over whether it's an Ab or a G#. In my example the guitarist called out the notes and after F# I was expecting him to say G# and when he said Ab it threw me for a microsecond. When I said it was G# he looked at me blankly like he'd never heard of a G#... If you're practicing and you call out C# D# E#, 9 times out of 10 you'll confuse someone.
I agree but in that situation the rule of only using each note name once doesn't apply, practising at home and reading it from the score it is an E# If it were a punk band practice you would probably just shout out "5th fret, 3rd fret"
 14. Only had my stagg since Christmas and word has got out amongst the local musos, I have been recommended for a little recording session by a great female vocalist I have worked with on a few projects over the last couple of years. I'm still being held back by my bad wrist and a proper double bass would sound better I'm sure although my modded stagg with it's spirocores sounds pretty good IMO. The track is just a demo at the moment and a sort of buddy holly tribute song, I will link it up once it's done.
 15.
It doesn't matter so long as you all use the same one. My covers band usually choses the single version as it will be the one the majority of the audience know and it will be missing all the unnecessary guitar solos.
Likewise
 16. Who is next then?
 17. Awesome mate! Have you done any mods yet?
 18.
E sharp! PAH! You'l be teling us you saw Elvis working in a fish n chip shop next then ? .
I know crazy ain't it!
 19. I don't see why it's being pedantic, the E is sharp in the key of F sharp, it's just that it's the first time I have knowingly played one
 20. All my brain cells got used on reading ain't nobody and understanding that I had finally found an E#, the double sharps will have to wait
 21.
I think that's only for double bass.
Well I have one of those and have made some funny noises with it, maybe one of them was it?
 22. Still no idea where the double sharp (E##) comes in but I will look for the next 25 years
