1. That's it the end with two screws and keep it level too
2. I wind the e string end in as much as possible as to use it as a thumb rest then put the g end slightly raised towards the strings in comparison and fine tune the balance across all the strings in a band setting,I have taken a bass with a legendary weak g to actually having too much output compared to the lower strings and then back to balanced. Get the e end set in as deep as possible first ime
3. I'd put a switch in too, might as well. A passive P bass setup and active musicman 2eq clone preamp would be cool with switching to run either pickup through the active or passive controls?
4. Which is why you can't see a key signature
5. unless it is the 90's Ray 5 sound you are after of course, nothings simple is it?
6. The ceramic pickup will make it sound less like a Ray more than the series parallel bit IMO/E
7. Some cheaper versions are wired in series so if someone had only seen the inside of an original SUB or OLP then they might of told you Rays are series? Full fat Ray always = parallel I wouldnt be able to tell that easily but as my main basses are now Ray 5s obviously they have the switch from series/parallel/single coil (phantom) so I have been able to compare series parallel first hand, I also have one ceramic and one alnico Ray 5 so the bases are all covered!
8. And again out of phase I dont know, +1 series is louder to my ears.
9. Series cuts through better but lacks that ultimate Stingray sound as far as the bottom end is concerned although that might not be an issue if you dont boost the lows all that much but I do as do quite a few others (Musicman20 is a bit of a fairy with his though )
10. Being Flea you would think parallel the same as a standard Ray with a single H?
11. Put a dribble of super glue on the thread, it will come out if you need it to no problem, that said I haven't had that problem. Are the pickup springs in place?
12. Wont be long before it kicks off altogether I guess the next step is to see how much the new necks are then try and beat them down to half of that ammount explaining why of course? not great though is it, what year is the bass again?
13.
how did I know that was going to happen I haven't, have you a link?
To be fair this is bent the normal way but the outcome is the same http://basschat.co.uk/topic/197957-warwick-thumb-with-a-bent-neck/
14.
I had a lovely Warwick, sold it, and bought and sold loads of basses in the space of a couple of years. I ended up going back to Warwick, they are brilliant in every way, and pretty much every bass feels the same, the QC and support is remarkable, something sadly lacking in so many manufacturers.
Have you seen the near identicle warwick thread?
15. All the ones missing a B string are mainly for home or studio use only which is a shame
16. So how will you get it to gigs? We just swapped our Micra (great cars, our second!) for a Focus which will fit a Db inside........hhhmmmmmm.
17. Thats a bit sh*t, have you posted on the musicman forum yet? even some kind of cost price or close to deal would be a start!
18. I am swaying too but there is no way I would sell my Stagg, its too handy for practicing and gigs where the acoustic either wont fit or cant get there transportation wise.
19. All my basses have dunlop straplocks and I carry one strap for them all, on the rare occasion I take just a hard case to a jam night I normally get to the folowing gig without the strap as its in a different case with the wrong bass now I tend to keep everything required for a world tour in a seperate bag!
20. You would not want to make a 70's Ricky unplayable....oh hang on.....sorry could not resist, as you were
