1. We do this version of feel good inc, a great example of how a 5 can sound great used as a 5, it has that sound on the other strings that some people cant get on with but used in the right context it sounds ace! (dont listen on ipod/laptop etc) There is an open B under a lovely guitar chord where it all drops out that makes playing a 5 worthwhile all on its own http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Uv0rOcdqdA On the other hand I also love being able to learn a song once in one position then being able to shift a whole tone or more without any trouble at all.
2. Oh no is this not a good thing! I thought the w***er sign and similar ones were signs of appreciation as we get them at most gigs
3.
Like it... might even do it later, saves taking the amp out...
What have you got to lose if the pot snaps in half trying? well £1.28p but you know what I mean!
4.
Pete's next trick will be to tell us how to get 12 cups of tea out of one teabag...
I was not like this until you taught me your make do and mend philosphy in the gardening thread!
5. "Probably the last bass I will ever buy" filed under "never drinking again" and "I swear thats the last time I am sleeping with her"
6. They only ever fetch about half of what they should IMO! My 320 which has quite a few upgrades from the 310 sold for £250 for example
7. Changed my mind, little pan head self tapper screwed in to the stub, test it to see if the old pots work then if they do all you need to do is epoxy glue the knob to the head of the screw! There is 64 pence per pot at stake here!
8. Just in from band practice now, out tomorrow night in Bristol fit the weekend so not coming along too well really! Next week I promise......
9. No problem just off to practice right now but I will send you some asap
10.
Didn't quite work, the pads aren't thick enough to reach the strings! Trying to locate a mouse-mat.
PM me your address and I will send you a chunk of the foam I used, I have plenty spare.
11. I would get a little 1.0mm drill bit and drill the remaining bit then glue a tiny dowel of some sort into place then do the reverse to a piece that fits the knob or even the actual original bits if you have them? I tiny dab of araldite between the two and duct tape it all in place leaving it a good 24 hours and it will be as good as new! Good dose of servisol over everything and then keep a dust cover over it, I loved my old tnt
12.
could you not change how the speakers in the cab are wired together, so have two sets of two which should give you a 4 ohm cab?
350 watts through a 120watt guitar cab should sound erm well erm......
13.
Yep a mirror is one of the best practice tools, spend your first couple of weeks playing in front of one to make sure nothings going askew. You can keep an eye on your fingers as well as your bowing technique.
I have actually got a long mirror on the landing opposite where I practice so I will move out onto there
14.
Just a quick question - what strings do you have on your EUB ? If they are jazzers they can be very slippery smooth for arco work !
Spirocore weichs at half the purchase price of the eub!
15. Have you posted the picture over on the EBMM forum? that should move things along!
16. Cheers Milty, I am keeping up with your troubles too which are worse than mine but I tend not to post in off topic these days
17. Sounds like I need both more tension and more rosin to me then, thanks I will give that a go.
18. Ha I like that! Well if my wrist is still bad in a few months time I might sell a pre eb ray and possibly one five string ray and take the plunge,I have a conservatory but I doubt that would do it any good? I will have to have a think.
19. Now grand wazoo I hear used to like musician basses but now likes dingwalls, this could be the perfect hybrid for him?
20. I have been after a good version of Aint Nobody for a while, thats tomorrow night sorted Thanks
21. Update on the strings then, I like them! Not a great deal of difference at home but I think maybe I dropped on a better set of Stagg strings than many others have and last weeks practice I found it much easier to EQ. The feel on your fingers is much nicer and the bass has a good even output all over, now it has all the Stagg mods done I am not sure what would be worth trading up to other than a real DB?
